Thanks Hibernian. It's taken me this long to get my butt over there after all but thinking I was retired! Wasn't sure what to expect after all the enforced "changes" since I was last in Edinburgh to be naughty. March last year. To be honest I never noticed anything different, at least at Scorpio. Stunning blonde with nice boobs greeted me and I wondered if I could swap my booking! Emma appeared however and once in the room she absolutely took me to heaven and back. i'd dispute your claim on edinburgh's saunas bronstein. somewhat inclined to agree with come again on this; freefall is absolutely what they are experiencing and his analysis of the entire situation hits the proverbial nail with pin-point accuracy. i would struggle to present a better assessment of the present situation than come again. presently i book, privately, the ladies i used to visit in the saunas when on my regular trips to edinburgh. these ladies still work in the assorted big name establishments but agreed to make private arrangements with me after some recent uncomfortable visits to several establishments since the end of the former licensing scheme; one of which i documented in this forum. predominately we meet here in edinburgh hotels and once, thus far, at my invitation, to my home city on the continent along with a free private viewing around the gallery. without exception, they tell the same story of very quiet saunas; comparing them to ghost towns. with the occasional busy day increasingly rare. and of a slow but gradual exodus of local, talented ladies who are then replaced by, largely, and to the apparent exclusion of other nationalities, romanians, who may or may not be here of their own free will; i suspect not of their own free will in a large number of cases and suspect the police conclude same and that is the true purpose in their actions against the industry more broadly.

there are new reviews for the saunas but who writes some of those reviews? i am increasingly sceptical when browsing at least some of those. there is even one on this page now which is primarily a cut and paste, with some alterations added, of another post, on another site, with a different name but is demonstrably the same individual and their writing style recurs under various names on the other site as well. always with the same subtext: come to newton sauna and the writer also makes claims about how much better than blair street it is and how bad their management is; personally speaking, as i wrote before, it doesn't suit me but it is not so terrible either and i am not comfortable in any of the saunas now waiting for the knock on the door in the night that may follow. this was a bizarre conundrum for me as everyone knows of the long historical connection between these businesses but then one of the ladies from blair street that i now see privately, explained about changes the new management team had implemented and it appears to be a case of sour grapes on the part of, to quote her, "one sad nutjob".

i am delighted to have made my own arrangements with the ladies; it works out easier, i'm here in the hotel when i visit edinburgh and they can come to me, works out more expensive but better quality of experience and no rushing to get out of the sauna room afterwards. also, very much happier knowing that the ladies get all my money and i am not a party to sauna owners who lifestyle piggyback on the ladies earnings. disgusting.

I dropped into LSS yesterday. This was the first time since January. I was shocked by the appearance of the girls all dressed in black. This appears to be a kind of uniform. I was disappointed by the choice. Only one from 5 was of interest. The disappointment was probably accentuated by comparing with my last visit when the choice was much better.

Natasha who said she was Russian worked willingly in the room. She was an intelligent conversationalist and did a good job. I gave it 6 out of 10 on my scale. I feel out of touch with the saunas. I have commented before on the premises, the layout of which is often not ideal. An example I can think of (not LSS) from my last visit there, I felt that I was in a rabbit warren. You go from a tiny reception to a tiny and unsatisfactory lounge, down stairs round corners to what appeared to be a remote room. Having said this, if the quality is good, then small can be beautiful. My impressions are of course influenced by my visits to top quality establishments in Berlin, which I cannot forget and which is only a short flight away. There is a limited choice in Edinburgh.

I haven't posted on here in a while, mainly due to the fact that I haven't been visiting the saunas for a couple of years. I was slowly getting more and more disappointed with the standards of both the girls and the premises. I have subsequently been doing the Independent route.

However, I had the unexpected opportunity to pop into Blair Street today. The first mistake was, going there! The reception was lousy, but the selection of girls was also rubbish. Six were in the lounge, and they just chatted amingst themselves. I did not feel welcome. I was the only punter in there, I know it was only 10 am, but I felt an unnerving sense of unease. I did something that I have never done before. Stood up, got changed and walked out!

The whole experience reminded me why I stopped going to saunas in the first place. BBS wouldn't normally be my first choice. LLS was always no. 1 - but I just happened to be around the corner.

My second mistake? Well, that was not coming on here and getting the latest reviews. Had I read up before hand I would certainly have saved myself a room fee at least.

The very fact that the comments below appear to be both sparse and infrequent, kind if tells me more about the sauna scene in Edinburgh today than any comment about individual WGS.

Clearly, police pressure is working. They hope that the punters feel scared off, and in that the girls stop working. There was not one British girl in the lounge this morning. It reasons why.

A lot of the Independents I visit are ex Sauna workers. They all complain about the same thing, feeling like an outsider in their own place. They are muscled out, to accomodate the girls from Easter Europe. As you all know, there is nothing worse than ending up in a room with a girl who can hardly speak my tongue. There is no connection, thus not enjoyable. In fact, it can be hard work at times.

Getting down with a local lass, or British / Irish is a rarity. It was hard two years ago. I believe it is nigh on impossible now, mainly because they know the risks involved should the sauna be raided. It doesn't quite matter if your name gets into the papers if your family live a 1000 miles away.

There is a stigma attatched to being Eastern European. Even the girls themselves know it, hence why they often claim to be Greek or Italian. Greek usually, because nobody speaks it. They are getting wiser now, by often claiming to be, for example, half Romanian half Spanish. Like, it makes it more acceptable (One of the attractions of the saunas, was the ability to ogle at the girls on "show". And then you make your selection. A kind of power trip really. "I am going to shag you!

The selection process is slightly different when booking independent escorts. Mostly, it is by word of mouth. Ironicslly, the scene has gone underground, which suits all concerned I think. I always insist on speaking to them by phone. In that way I know I am getting someone who I can converse with. I also know my money is ALL going to her, and not into some dubious racket. Some are better than others, but you learn through time. Most of them actually move on, down south normally. There are a few lap dancers who are great fun to be with, but you know they are only here shirt term.

As for prices, I know that its a wee bit more expensive. Whilst you might pay a £100/ hr for room / services in a sauna, you will get a much better (and friendlier) service for £20 more. In addition to that, there are no bells telling you your time is up and certainly no threat of a police presence.

Sadly, despite many great times in so many saunas all over the world, with so many beautiful fun ladies, I fear that the Edinburgh Sauna Scene is rapidly in decline. Free fall! Its only a matter of time before they are forced to shut because of a criminality element.

From the terminus walk down to the bottom of Broughton Street and turn left onto London Street. The LSS sauna is but a short walk from here. Newtown is in Hart Street, 5 minutes walk from here. Note that both saunas are at basement level. YMMV.
