In between other erotic pursuits during a recent stopover in London I paid a visit to the Forever Crazy show, a traveling version of Parisian Crazy Horse cabaret. It was no easy task-nobody in town seemed to sell tickets (I. E, nobody near Leicester Square) and the Forever Crazy website said the show was sold out on my only night in town. I found out from a seatmate that "Kelly Brook"-someone with whom I had no cultural reference point-was a big draw and probably accounted for the size of the crowd.

I finally decided to just show up at 6:00 and see if there were any empty seats. There were three, and I booked one in the front row to the tune of 80 quid. It was an amazing seat, and I would do it again if I could.

First things first: Were there going to be any "pink bits" on display? Unlike Raymond's "Festival of Erotica," or "Erotica 2000," which flashed labia almost immediately and soon entered into an all-pink-all-the-time mode, the Crazy Horse girls were carefully covered with a kind of stick-on flannel that hid everything gynecological, but not much else.

Oh well-once that issue was settled I could sit back and enjoy the show. And it WAS a great show! It didn't break new ground, but celebrated the Crazy Horse style. Many of the numbers were new to me. Every act was done with grace and energy. There were no slackers in the troupe, believe me. The "Chain Gang" number was little more than a sweaty gal lunging repeatedly against rubbery bars, but it brought the house down. The opening and closing ensemble numbers were just as spectacular as they always were in Paris (or Singapore, or Moscow).

It was two hours of nearly-naked dance perfection. A hand-dancing number ("Up and Over It") was superb. I did, however, wonder at which point one or both would get naked, but when I understood their hand-talents I realized that it wasn't going to happen.

I scanned the web for reviews and found many that quibbled, or nit-picked, or snarked. What a bunch of LOSERS those critics are. As I gazed at the packed house, approximately 50/50 male-female, I couldn't help but wonder, "Where were you when Raymond's needed you?" Perhaps the barricaded girlie-parts made it more acceptable to the couple-crowd.

My hope is that the success of FC will engender similar shows in London, but I'm not getting my hopes up. I sense a blueness of noses spreading an anti-erotic pall over London. Let's hope I'm wrong.
