I heard mentioned on another thread that choosing one where a keycard isn't required for lifts is something to be aware of.

Are there any other details that a newbie should be aware of when choosing a hotel to cater to this activity?

I usually stay at the Pullman during my visit to London, but always with family. No keycard required. No security standing by the elevators as well. Amba Marble Arch is also another option. But you might probably get weird looks from the middle eastern people staying there. No keycard but wouldn't recommend.

The walkup in berwick street above the fish and chip shop has several floors of women. Usually a Thai at the first floor and others on the top floor. I went there for many years when in the area as it was mostly OK till the bad ass Russian blond turned up. But other Russians were OK and Greek women were good. But they move on after a few months so don't know whet the staff are like now. But generally speaking its worth a try.
