Seriously - to any American cousins, don't be afraid: be sensible, follow Muri's excellent advice and you'll be smiling. The phone booth adverts have always been genuine too though in defence of them, and as with a "model"/walk-up you can simply leave if you don't like what you see. The apartment's ALWAYS been better than any walk-up I've been to on the 7 (I think) occaisions I've used phone box contacts, and I can honestly say that on all but 2 of those experiences I've been FAIRLY or VERY satisfied, and one of the others was average. Only once felt slightly disappointed. Indeed last time in Grays Inn Road was unbelievably good for £100/hr.

OK, well I have been a regular reader of the forum for quite some time. Now I have a chance, one night only of having a bit of fun. The Soho walk-ups are ten minutes stroll away. Look for doorways with little signs saying 'model', get upstairs, if you don't like what you see, keep on hunting. You will not be ripped off as long as you AVOID the doorways with ladies inviting you in: and don't allow anyone on the street to offer to 'introduce' you to ladies.

Chicago based Monger coming to London next weekend for business. Am told I will be staying near Covent Garden. I need to check a map of the area as this is coming together rather quickly and I am not exactly sure where I will be in relation to anything.

You are much better off calling one of the agencies than calling up the numbers on the phone booth cards. Most of the girls on the cards are NOT the girl you will meet; often they are photos stolen from Playboy or other magazines. Yes they still exist, and are plentiful. However, the councils are pretty smart at cleaning all the booths in most areas each day, and the new flyers only tend to get stuck up by the touts in the early evening. I added a couple of numbers to my phone contacts of decent ones to avoid being left "stranded". Of course the girls change in these places, but if it's clean and good service, it's likely to be same next time, and if you don't fancy the girl you can leave, no obligation or hassle.
