Gambia is hit or miss but boy I had some sweethearts there. Top shelf. Every night out was an adventure. A couple of years ago Time Inn was swinging. But it got progressively worse.

In January this year Time Inn was a shadow of it's former self. A couple of girls but nearly no customers. Probably the cancellation of European flights did a lot of harm. They had a largely European clientele in contrast to Britannia's local customers. I think when all the charters are up and running they'll start taking off again. I just read Air France is initiating The Gambia as a new flight destination.

The winter tourist season 2021-2022 will officially commence Friday, 22 October 2021 with a regular Gambia Experience flight, which will fly direct from the United Kingdom to Banjul International Airport (BIA).

Gambia Experience flight will be followed by TAP Portugal on Sunday, 31 October. Air France joins the route for the first time and expected to land with tourists at the BIA on Monday, 1 November at 16:55 hours.

TUI (UK) direct flight from Gatwick and Manchester will be received in the country 2nd and 3rd November at 20:00 hours each day respectively.

In addition, on 3rd November at 21:30 hours, Correndon Airline from Holland will jet into BIA while TUI Holland and TUI Belgium flights will commence on 1st and 23rd December respectively.

Further, Rainbow International flight will also commence in the month of December too, but the date would be announced later.

As preparation in high gear for the resumption of the season, Adama Njie, director of Marketing GTBoard on behalf of the board and Ministry of Tourism and Culture, called for collective efforts of stakeholders and individuals to make it fruitful.

Thus, the season will officially kick off on 22nd October after a long break caused by the coronavirus pandemic. The DoM stated that further update on arrival times and other flights would be announced as the season progresses.

One of the reasons I like the Gambia is that they have quite a lot of direct flights coming from the EU and through TAP airways and it's connecting network you can fly from virtually any EU country. And there is a wide choice of air bnb's at reasonable price / quality if you search around a bit.

It's also safe. I guess there's not many African countries you can roam around at night without thinking you are doing something stupid. That means a lot to me. Admittedly there is a small amount of petty crime (got pick pocketed myself at the turntable) but aggressive robberies with guns, knives or sticks are very rare. Nearly unheard of. Also the police isn't that bad. I don't say they would never ask for a gift but my impression is they generally leave the holidaymakers alone.

I get the numbers of the girls when they show up, the next day I contact them and enjoy them in the morning or the afternoon. That doesn't help for the night but your days are less boring.

Hey mate! Don't discourage yourself. You did just fine. I know August September is hell you visited at the worst time. End of October cooler weather breaks and then its cool in the night and the weather just perfect till March / April. That's why a climate chart is your best friend. It is what it is. Came when and where I did because it was the best of a bad option at the time, with Covid.

Pretty interesting night out Friday with a mad Scotsman and a cool Aussie guy. Barhopping back and forth between all the various hotspots. First time checking out Aquarius. A few girls in there, but it was mostly made up of tourists, expats and the Lebanese crowd.

Ended up back at Britannia at 4 am and the party was still going strong.
