    Gambian Trip Report

I just came back from a 2 week holiday in Gambia. This will be my second trip. Not as great as Kenya, but still a perfect spot for our hobby.

Before my departure, I made a couple of contacts on Afro. Got phone numbers and promised them I would make contact on arrival. Whatever you do, don't disclose your departure date or else you might get a shopping list. On arrival, I picked up an africell sim card at the airport, you need to register them now, but your passport should be enough to show at the office (at the arrival hall).

Contrary to popular belief, the Kairaba hotel is gf, however if bringing a girl in late at night, you need to sort out the security at the gate (100D should do it) and the girl will need to leave her I'd at the gate. I did this last year, but I didn't like the idea of walking a girl in miniskirts out of the hotel in the morning. This hotel is usually full of old European couples. Stay away from the Senegambia hotel, you will be charged 1500D for bringing a girl in.

Your best bet is to stay in an apartment near the strip. There are many. Use Google or pm me and I can make a couple of recommendations. Cheaper and no questions asked. I stayed in a huge apartment about a 10 minute walk to the strip or 50D taxi fare. Ask the drivers for their mobile and simply call them when you need to make a move. I had about 4 drivers' number. Prior to choosing this apartment, I asked the owner if there were any restrictions as far as guests, he assured me that I could throw parties and invite 20 people over night if I wanted.

I called the first girl, she me at the gate to the strip. Instantly, took her back to my apartment. After 10 minutes we were at it. This was not a working girl, I will explain the similarities and differences in a while. After a couple of hours, I sent her home via my taxi driver 200D, though the fare was only 100D. I never saw her again, saying that, she called me about 30 times and I didn't pick up. It was followed by insults. LOL.

The next night, picked up the next girl on my list. I was a bit generous, I bought her a fruit cocktail (50D) near Palma rima. Took her back to my apartment, did the deed. Sent her home 150D cab fare. Again, this one called me, then said she was 'stran'. What this means is she is broke and needs money. I ignored. Never saw her again either.

The similarities with these two girls is that they will give it to you easy the first time, then hit you with a story down the line about their sick mum, rent or some other bullshit. The trick is to move in and move out quick.

My next conquest was at Binis bar. There are a lot of working girls there. As a matter of fact, any girl on the strip that doesn't work there in a bar or restaurant is a working girl. I made friends with a guy at one of the local bars so he would always accompany me at night. He knows all the girls and he could tell me their profile and he would normally call them, and gave guidance on prices (pm me if you want his contact number). I picked up a girl with a humongous ass, she said I should pay her anything I wanted. I said ok. My 'guide' told me to give out 500D only. I took her back to my apartment. She had a mean head game and will tickle your butthole while blowing. She licked balls as well. LOL. Now this was a pro. The next day, I gave her 500D. She stayed till about 12 noon the next day. She told me alot about Gambia and girls and how they operated. I took pictures of her big ass, but she threatened she would kill me with voodoo if I posted them on the internet. LOL. I'm not scared, but I'm not posting them. LOL. Let's not ruin it for the next guy and his photo opportunity.

I never had the same girl more than once and I went for anything from tour guides, to bar staffs and other working girls. I even picked up girls I met last year and went for a second opinion. On my last night, I took 3 different girls to my apartment, one at 6pm. 9.30pm and the last one at midnight. The look on my security guards face was priceless. LOL. Didn't cost me a penny, just cab fare. Never once did I have dinner with a girl.

Why, I took the advice of my 'guide' and played it safe. I saw many with the same girl throughout the week. This can be avoided. How? If you pick up a girl from the strip, make sure your arrangement with her is strictly business. Don't ask for her number. I guarantee that every time you walk into the strip, every working girl sees you. Even though they are pros, they can approach you like a GF and you'll end up stuck with them throughout your trip. Dinner can cost up to 600D, but on occasion I did give out 200 or 300D on the pretext it was cab fare. You can try the waitresses at the bar, they will meet you after work, but will not walk into the strip with you, so they are not mistaken for working girls. Just keep away from where they work if you are with another girl. Or better still, get the girls from other areas, they too will not walk into the strip. The only thing is they will cling onto you.

Here is the downside, I came across 3 girls who were circumcised. I was put off to be honest, and you will come across it too, but not in all cases.

Secondly, Gambians hate foreigners. Yes. Shocking, but yes they do. However, they love foreign money, so expect everyone, I mean everyone to be extremely nice to you. From the regular girl, to the working girl. They will be nice, and if you are stupid enough, start a relationship and even suggest marriage (I saw a lot of that). The moment your aircraft departs, they are with the next tourist. They will even maintain their local Gambian boyfriend who is fully aware of what they are doing and will take a step back while you are around. The girls are the same with their boyfriends when they go off with the old and fat European women. So don't waste your time thinking you have a girl friend.

The bottom line is it's a great country, not Kenya, but a great place for a short break. Regular girls are not freaks (I only got BJs from WGs) , most don't even drink alcohol (apart from the WG). But when they see you, they see money. Be smart, stay safe and enjoy the food, weather, julbrew and the girls.

    Thanks
. Sarges hotel is not g / f. You should have booked a guest house there are really nice one's in kotu near the bardala park hotel. Most hotel's will not let you take a lady back to your room unless you pay 1000 dalise thats about £20 the.

    Kute guy

Thanks for your report; well done. Will seriously have to consider Gambia. Brought an English speaking muslim girl back from Ghana (not her country of origin) on visa with the advantage that she was raised in a culture of polygamy being fully acceptable. You've raised my interest level.

    Yes I meant per week.

The locals don't care if you are enjoying the local ladies at all because Gambia is actually a sex destination for women. That is white women go there to get some black action. Every few metres you will see a 50+ yr old woman with a black guy.

My advice to you, if you want to have many ladies is that you make it clear somehow that you are not looking for a relationship. Being a small community if you [CodeWord140] off one or two ladies they could make life difficult for you.

    Can't belive that
Think Kute Guy means per week. My old boss went there in 2010 and paid roughly £95 / week in the quiet season. Take into account inflation, currency movements etc and it sounds about right.

Good report, Kute Guy. Have a few questions though if you don't mind me asking.

Itll be my first time "paying to play" outside of the UK so I'm curious more so than anything as to whether or not its common there / its visible that men desiring a taste of the local ladies on offer go there for this reason.

And if so / its known about, are the gents there for this reason treated in any way differently to the boring sit on the beach doing fuck-all all day types?

I notice on the dance floor you mention nobody battered an eyelid, what about outside of the club / bars?

I'm more than keen on going, purely as it'll be cheap and my first time with a dark skinned bird.

    Paradise

    (£1 = 50 dalasis (GMD) local currency)

Anyone that has been frequenting Gambia has obviously been keeping a secret from this forum.

Having personally travelled pretty much everywhere in the world, I think Gambia is an amazing country for mongering but with caveats.

This is a muslim country but nothing like other muslim countries I have been to. This is an african country but nothing like other african countries I have been to. Yes I am generalising but this is based on my experiences. Muslims and christians inter-marry without issues. The women are often married off at 13 or 14. Have 2-3 kids and then divorce their cheating / abusive husbands. Its absolutely safe to walk around at any time of the night on the streets. I never felt unsafe. But people I spoke to did have their stuff stolen every now and then so you do need to keep your wits about you. The country is SUPER cheap. A beer costs £0. 5. A local meal costs £0. 6. If you go to an expensive restaurant it will cost you £4-7 for a meal.

The main tourist area 'The Strip' is full of in your face touts / hustlers but I think they are harmless. So if you like black women you will be in heaven in this country but its a very small community so if you play around and try and have a different woman everyday with a 'good girl' then you could have some problems.

The first night I landed, I had three women. Met one on the street, she was dressed smoking hot and I just stopped her and she accompanied me to a live band on the beach which had beds. She led the entire interaction and we were on the beach making out. Within a few minutes we were in my room and making out. No sex at this stage. She said she couldn't stay as her parents were expecting her and she would be back the next night. Sure enough she was back the next night to stay over but by then I had met someone else (I had told her to wait for my phone call to confirm arrangements but she was too eager). We never talked money but I think she was expecting around £5 for the whole day.

I ended up meeting an amazing girl the first night when I grabbed her on the street and started dancing with her on the street. I wanted to try different girls everynight but ended up having a great time with her for the entire week. I paid her £7 for each night she spent with me. Money was never discussed though and every now and then I bought her a dress or something (£4). Pretty much EVERYONE (incl police, army, etc) knew I had shacked up with this girl so it was impossible for me to move on to another girl as I did not want to embarass / disrespect her although I had made it clear to her that I was looking to have fun with other girls on my trip. My one was really great to be with, never a dull moment and cared for me like I was her everything.

You have working girls from neighbouring states (liberia, sierra leone, senegal, etc) coming into Gambia and they are a bit hardened (I've been told) so definitely avoid that. All the action happens on 'The strip'. Senegambia. The club 'Wow' is best avoided to be honest as it really brings in rough people. Thursdays are rasta night so DEFINITELY avoid that night. I prefer classier places like poco loco (near duplex. About 15 minute walk from the 'strip). My other fav was Binis. Really nice music and I think most expats go here. There is also Aquarius and toties which were nice but not as busy as Binis. Binis, Totties, Wow, Poco Loco are open 7 days. Duplex definitely wasn't open most of the week besides later in the week. Everyone seems to go to Sizzler. A beach Reggae party every Sunday. Because I was shacked up with just one girl all week I didn't check out most of the venues. I would post her pic, etc but she is not a working girl so want to protect her identity as she is quite well known and frequents the clubs pretty much every night.

Just to give you an idea about how open they are. She was pretty much having dirty sex with me on the dance floor and no one batted an eyelid. Girls are all scantily dressed as its a HOT country.

If you find a trustable local you can ask them to introduce you to a good girl. One who never frequents the strip but is still up for fun as she needs to support the family. Again, I am guessing the prices as

For food, I highly recommend Paradiso's chicken and chips. A bargain at £3 and very tasty. Taxi will cost you 600 GMD set price from the airport to senegambia. On the way back I got a taxi for 300 GMD.

I stayed at Princess apartments. It's location and staff are excellent and they do not charge for bring back guests. I paid about 6500 GMD. BUT something to note is that Gambia has an electricity problem. During the day. 7 days a week. The electricity will not be available most of the time (7am to 7pm). In my 7 days I think I only had electricity 3 days. From 7pm electricity was available everyday. Princess apartments has a generator but they don't put it on. Meaning that tasks like going to the toilet, etc can be a challenge as the sunlight does not reach in there fully. TV / fans and AC does not work during the time there is no electricity. There is no internet access. There is a very large lockable room where I kept my luggage / valuables.

Palma rima is another place people stay which is about 20-25 mins walk from the strip. Transport around is very cheap and if you are game (I am!) you can catch shared vans and taxi which costs just 7 GMD.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Gambia for everyone.

Arriving on Monday 19th Nov 2012 (just now got a great deal UK-Gambia for £130 return incl taxes and baggage!). Would love to meet others who are in town. Just researching where to stay and prefer staying by the ocean and close to the hustle / bustle / action / nightlife. Any tips on reasonably priced accommodation that is girlfriendly? ($20usd?)

    Info wanted

    Hi there!

Going to the Gambia at the end of October for the first time.

I don't like to take girls to the place where I'm staying for privacy reasons. Also I don't like to pay guest fees, that's ripping off!

What is a good place to rent a room if you need one for one or more nights?

How is the Gambia for shopping for men's clothes like shirts and trousers? I'd like to travel light and buy that stuff localy.

What's good stuff for taking to the Gambia? I have a 30 kilo allowance for luggage. Would be a shame to waste it so I'd like to take some stuff for bartering, giving away, etc.

    Thanks for any input!

    Mono
