My first visit will not be my last visit to Gambia.

it’s my first time in gambia. and i have 5 days left. as i’m enjoying my holiday, despite many bumsters and other pushy persons, it will not be my last visit to “the smiling coast”. but i would like to underline, that to make a holiday in gambia requires much more energy, comparing to make a holiday in thailand. and if you find the correct way to conduct, to make holiday in gambia can be much more funny compared than to make holiday in thailand. (now i absolutely understand better why steve german wrote, that he only would come back if he would find 24 hours energy).

i would like to say, that you can see “the smiling coast” if you in your communication with a local person can go beyond the financial interests. however, every time i got success to go beyond money-issue when i talk with an african now.

i may admit, that i had got difficulties in the very first 2 days. especially last thursday –my second day in gambia, and in senegambia district- was a day i was cheated 4 times and my wallet was stolen! i had only 250 dalasis or something like that in my wallet. my advice to you who has the custom to carry wallet: never do that in gambia. (gambian banknotes are one of the dirtiest banknotes you can find in the world. no need to wear wallet to protect them, as the banknotes are already spoiled). wear a short trouser with many pockets, and divide your money you carry on you in different pockets. (so if someone with “long fingers” get your money from one of your pockets, you have at least money to the taxi in another pockets). never carry passport, many cash and credit card on you. you don’t even need to carry a driver license to show who you’re when you are in gambia. the police or security will never “aks” you anyway. (“aks” means “ask”). keep all your id-cards in the safe-box in your hotel.

of course, many persons come and “aks” me if i’m kind to buy a beer to them. i refuse them with a “no”, and a “no” is never enough to an african. they “aks” you “why”, and you have to explain. (i would like to say, that africans generally love to get explanations. and if you argue good, and if you are a storyteller as me, they will love you. in my 3.rd night in wow, a 29 years old woman approached to me. i told her, if she is a prostitute, i’m not interested in her. she told me, that she is not a prostitute. and she “aksed” my name and which country i’m from. i told her simply, that i can’t remember. i lost my memory. as she interested in me very much, she followed me all night. i didn’t buy any drink to her while she was chatting with me almost in 2 hours. she didn’t expect it either. i just talked with her. –all right, i’m a handsome man in his 30’s. brad pitt would possibly be ugly comparing to me- and we danced, while they played latin american sounds. i went to the toilet, and bought one beer to me, and one beer to her. we continued to chat. i had still no memory. she tried to get an answer about which country i’m from, what was my name, etc… but still, i told her, that my memory flied away like a bird. she told me, that i look very good with my red cap. then i told her that i could possibly be “the red hooded” and she could possibly be “the wolf”. she didn’t understand that much, and i told her “the red hooded”. she enjoyed to listen the story. and it was first time she heard that story. then i went to the toilet, and take a seat in a different place. she followed me, and she “aksed” me why i’m sitting here. and i “aksed” her who she was. -remember, i’m a guy without memory-. any way, a time later she suggested that we take a taxi to her place. as i prefer my place, we took to my place. and we had just a great time together. we spend approximately 12 hours in the bed, and most of the time –yeah man, it’s almost 10 hours- we fucked. believe me, i didn’t get lust to fuck any woman in 3 days after i fucked her.-she was a kind of nymphomaniac. after getting a little bit sleep, we suggested that we walk to her place, as we almost were neighbors. no talk about money. nothing. i gave her a mobile phone, which i bought to a price of 15 euros -or something like that- in denmark. we went to her place. while we walked, she was proud of to show me to everyone she knows. i met also his brother. –and it’s really her biological brother, not a fake brother as almost all africans use to have. you maybe meet many men who want to give you his sister, but the girl is not his sister. she is just a working girl. and the man who would like to give you his sister is a kind of pimp, even worse than a pimp: the man is some times the girl’s boyfriend. and i think it is worse than to be a pimp).

maybe you had got the same experience. you have to explain them, that you are not bill gates, and that’s why you have a tight budget while you make a holiday, and that’s why you can’t afford to give a beer to everyone who “aks” about that. i usually tell that, the number of persons who “aks” about a beer in a day is around 100. as a beer typically costs 50 dalasis (almost 1½ euro) in wow and in totties, i have to pay maybe 5000 dalasis (almost 150 euros) to the beer for african “friends”, and i can’t afford that amount money. then they can understand, that they can’t squeeze anything out of you. most of them leave you in no time, but some of them stay and continue to talk with you (without any expectation of financial things). and now you’re beyond economical interests, and you can get a genuine and real communication with the person you talk with. and now, you can see “the smiling coast”. but still, never loose your control. (never ever give your home phone number. never ever give your address, as it can be misused. even to give a gambian phone number can be disturbing enough. i gave my gambian number to a man, who could also allow himself to call me at 2:30 am. he doesn’t think, that maybe i am sleeping at that time of the night). and most of the time keep your hands in your pockets, as there are many people who have “long fingers”, that can go deep into your pocket.

    dear fourniceight,

this is a long rapport. as you can see, it would take some couple of hours to write it down. that’s why to use internet at gamtel in senegambia (who charge you for 20 dalasis for 1 hour) is better than use internet at quantumnet (where they charge you for 70 dalasis for 1 hour). it’s because i use microsoft word to write the document, e-mails ect. i need only internet in a very short time, after i finished writing my document.

i would like to tell also, that i never paid more than 500 dalasis (for long time and 100 dalasis for a taxi) to any girl i have been in bed with. last night i chatted with a very sexy girl, who demanded to get 2000 dalasis for sex. i refused her. she went back, and the new price was 1500 dalasis. i told her, that i maximum pay 500 dalasis for whole night. she went back to her “sister” and came back. and the new price was 1000 dalasis. as i didn’t like her attitude (because she wanted i pay 100 dalasis to her “sister”, and her sister can get a taxi to home) i left her in jazz café and went to wow. as it was so crowded and too much smoke of cigarettes and marihuana in wow, i was sitting in the balcony. i felt sleepy, and went to my place alone.

actually i stopped to go to wow and totties. yesterday i went to west phil and to a club called “jokor”. i think that is the best place to be and to communicate with the girls. but as it was a cultural night yesterday, there were only dance and music (and i enjoyed the cultural night definitely very much). i left “jokor” approximately at 2:15 am when a rapper started to sing. i don’t like rap. rap means [CodeWord123] of ears, i think. but as it was still early for me to go to my place, i went to senegambia. but i think that’s the last time i’ve been in senegambia.

    best regards,

    kw

    kw,

this may be a little late for you if you are nearing the end of your holiday, but you are certainly overpaying for your pussy in wow or totties. it goes without saying that girls will charge less for a good looking young guy, but i am balding, have a beer belly and i am 60 yrs. old. i pay 500 for these girls with sometimes a promise that they will get a bit (200) extra if they perform well. granted i only take a girl short time but that never comes into the negotiation. as everywhere, negotiate the price before doing the deed.

gamtel internet cafe at senegambia is pitiful. you should try quantumnet next door to sarge's hotel. it is more than twice as fast as gamtel, although a bit dearer rates. i find it much less frustrating in there not waiting 5 minutes for a page to load as in gamtel. gamtel may have cheaper rates but you will pay more there for each session because of the speed of page loading.

sounds like you have had a good time so far. you have certainly learned the ropes pretty fast for a newbie. i take it that it's your first time in the gambia?

To all those men who overpay the working girls

I would like to say something to all those men who overpay the girls. Maybe you think you make a very good thing for the working girl. But the only thing you do is “a favour of a bear” (if I use a Danish idiom. As a bear can see a mosquito disturbing his friend, the bear hit the mosquito. Yeah, you can guess the mosquito died. But the friend of the bear died, too!) It could be true for a short term, that you make favour to the working girl. But for a long term you destroy existing “sex-industry” in the country. If I use another idiom we use in Danish language for describing the consequences of your behavior, I would say “you’re pissing in your trouser to get warmth”. Well, if you pie in your trouser you may get warmth, but after 5 seconds, you get f*cking cold, man! You think, it’s sorry for the working girl, and maybe that’s why you overpay. But, if you do that, there would be lesser mongers in the country, as working girls demand more money. (Remember, you buy a Chinese produced thing because of it’s price. How many people would buy a Korean car to a price as a German produced car like Mercedes? Not many, well?). So please, please, please: Never ever pie in the well you get your water from!

    Best regards,

    KW.

Comparing of Thailand and Gambia (2.nd part)

Here is the continuation of the comparing of Thailand and Gambia. Of course, there are some good things about Gambia. I would like to write them, too. (As I am an honest man who tries to be objective, I have to be non-partial. I give the right of Ceasar to Ceasar. But I take the things Ceasar doesn’t deserve from Ceasar).

    1) In Gambia it is much cheaper to drive in a taxi. From Manjai to Senegambia it costs only 50 Dalasis (65 Baht) in a yellow taxi. (Of course you make an agreement about the price before you enter the taxi). From Manjai to West Phil, it is sufficient to pay 75 Dalasis (97 Baht). For last mentioned drive, you may at least pay 300 Baht (231 Dalasis) in Thailand. Maybe more… (Recently tuk-tuk prices are raised in Phuket. It costs now 300 Dalasis to drive from Karon to Bangla Road/Patong).

    2) As known, Gambia is closer to Europe. You can reach Gambia in approximately 5 / 6 or 7 hours from Europe. And you don’t get any jetlag when you travel to Gambia from Europe. You have to fly in 13 hours from Europe, if you choose to travel to Thailand. (And 15 hours when you travel back, because the fly direction is the same as the direction of world’s rotation).

    3) Most of African girls (not all of them) have big breasts and round ass, compared to Thai girls, who have small breasts. African girls have much more sexy ass compared to Thai girls, I think. (It is to my eyes a big carnival to get doggy style with an African girl. Doggy style with a Thai girl is only a fiesta, compared to the big carnival).

    4) You pay no “bar fine” here in Gambia, as there is no mamasan in a bar. In Patong/Phuket/Thailand you have to pay 500 Baht (385 Dalasis) to the bar, before you get permission to go with the girl. (Personally I prefer bars in Karon, where you pay only 200 Baht for the bar). Of course you pay to the girl in Thailand, too. The price for long term is between 1000 – 2000 Baht (770 – 1540 Dalasis), depends on how good you are to negotiate the price. (Now most girls in “Wow” and “Totties” demands, that you pay them 1500 Dalasis (2000 Baht), and it’s maximum price you have to pay for long term in Thailand).

    5) Although internet connection is slower in Gambia, it is cheaper to use internet in Senegambia. At Gamtel you use internet for 20 Dalasis (15 Baht) for 1 hour. In Phuket/Thailand you have to pay 60 Baht (80 Dalasis) for 1 hour.

    6) If you prefer a holiday with sun, beach and sea, Gambia is maybe better than Thailand. Personally I prefer Atlantic Ocean than Andaman Sea. There aren’t many tourists in the beaches in Gambia either. (The current situation is that there are lesser tourists compared last year. When I chat with local people, almost all of them are complaining about amount of tourists this year. It is maybe because, that the tourists can’t relax in Gambia as they can do in Thailand, because of too much disturbing things in Gambia such bumsters, guys who have bars in the beach inviting tourists all the time to drink in their bars, pushy taxi drivers, etc…etc… Well, I fell actually sorry for Gambia. Gambia needs more money (i.e. tourists). There is no industry at all in Gambia. The only industry in the country is “sex-industry” and tourism. Gambian people have to learn how to tread tourists. Otherwise, it could be much worse for the country. Too be pushy is absolutely not the way to get more tourists to the country, I think).

    Best regards,

    KW.

    I enjoyed your report Kurdish.

I have been in Gambia 5 times. If this is your first time, then I do understand how you feel. Africans are very pushy. I have not been in LOS, but I did have 2 long term thai girlfriends and I think the culture is very different.

On the positive side, Gambia is much lcoser to UK. Only 6 hours form Mancehster and quite reasonable package deals. I have not stayed at Sages but do know it. There are lots of better places away from Senegambia. The standard of Guest houses id low. I stayed atBakotu Hotel with Gambain experience. It is nice there. Only 500 for a girl to stay. With breakfast.

It is possible to meet local girls. Some are not pushy at all. But all are very poor. I must admit to being not exactly poor and I had a relationship with a very sweet sexy girl (26) from Bundung. I was very generous with her and her family. There were 8 women and 9 childrenin 2 mud floor rooms. She had a lovely younger sister who died at 20 while I was there. So you do get touched by tragedy and money helps there.

I have had *****s from Wow. Adn they are a waste of time. If you can sit in a bar in Serrekunde, you will find nice local girls. I met a very pretty 18 year old virgin (yes, really you bunch ofcynics) who gave me her best GFE all night for 400 Dalasi.

I have been really pissed off by the bumsters and the 3rd time I went I vowed I would never go again. You have to get used to that.

Would like to go to Thailand next.

Gambia could not be Africa's Thailand.

Well, here is a comparation between Thailand and Gambia. Then I hope you can certainly understand why there couldn't be another Thailand. (And certainly Gambia couldn't be Africa's Thailand).

    1) Thai people thanks almost in every opportunity. They are very polite. Even you don't tip to the waiter/waitress you can hear a 'kop kun kap'/'kop kun ka' (which means simply 'thank you'). I wouldn't say the same thing about Gambian waiter/waitresses (and generally about the people in Gambia). Now I just quitted to tip to the waiters/waitresses in Gambia, because they don't say 'thanks', but just a single 'okay', when you tip for instance 20 Dalasis. (Remember, that a daily salary for most people in Gambia is around 120 Dalasis. For 20 Dalasis most people in Gambia work in 2 hours. But it even doesn't take 2 minutes to bring what I'm going to eat in a restaurant).

    2) A Thai girl take a shower before and after sexual intercourse. I had 3 different Gambian girls. None of them took a shower. Not after sexual intercourse either, even though these girls informed me, that they are Muslims. (Well, if you are Muslim, you have to take a shower at least after intercourse according the religious rules, and you have to make it sure, that every single inch in your body would be washed).

    3) Thai people are very friendly, even they don't have any financial interests in you. When you for instance refuse to buy a drink, so it is 'no poblem' (it means 'no problem'). I couldn't say the same thing about Gambian people. When you refuse them, they continue to push you until you give up or until you are going to be rude.

    4) Maybe a Gambian GFE is better than a Thai GFE, I have no idea about that. (I don't dare to get a Gambian girl friend). But a Gambian friend means extra expenses during your holiday, while you can get a Thai friend without spending even a single baht.

    5) Thailand is known as 'Land of Smiles', and Thailand deserves this name 117 percent. You can see people smiling to you almost everywhere in Thailand. Gambia is known as 'Smiling Coast', but I have very big difficulties to recognise 'smiling coast' because of Gambian peoples big efforts of squizing more money out of me.

    6) Restaurants are much more cheaper in Thailand, compared to Gambia. You can get at least 2 times more food and drinks in Thailand than in Gambia. (And of course the service is on top level in Thailand. The service in Gambia is failed).

    7) Thai people are very honest. I visited Thailand 3 times, and I had more than 30 Thai girls to my room. I had never ever conclude, the Thai girl stole any money from my wallet, from my pocket, etc. (I made some traps to the girls to measure their honesty). Unfortunately I concluded Gambian girls steal. I would underline, that to steal is very very bad both in Buddhism and in Islam.

    8) Thai girls have very beautiful hair. Some of them have long hair to belly and it's very feminine I think. Gambian girls have only artificial hair.

    9) Thai people know that money from turism is very important. They tread turists as if the turist is a king/queen/prince/princess. I wouldn't say the same thing about Gambian people. No matter how they admire your skin colour and your financial power, you are only a 'white pig'. And they can also show this opinion if they can't reach to squize some money out of you.

Well, I am going to finish this comparision right now. I could possible continiue some other time.

    Best regards,

    KW.

The scene in Gambia (in `Wow` and `Totties`) is destroyed now.

It's very hard to find a prostitute in `Wow` and `Totties`, who demands to get less than 1500 Dalasis for sex. (As I read in previous posts, should it be satisfying for the girl, if you pay 500 Dalasis to the girl for whole night). Thank you very much to all those who paid more than 500 Dalasis for sex in The Gambia. Now you destroyed the scene for your fellow mongers. I hope you feel very happy now!

I have now spent 4 nights in The Gambia and I got experience with 5 different girls. (But I got sex with only 3 of them).

In my first night in Senegambia, I went to Jazz Cafe to get a cup of coffee. Later I have been in `Wow`. Some girls approached to me, but I refused them with my reason. I told them, it is me who choose the girl, but not the opposite. If I'm ill, I go to doctor, the doctor doesn't come and asks me whether I'm ill or not all the time, does the doctor? It should be same with a prostitute, I think.

After spending a couple of hours, I remarked a very perfect ass. I remarked the girl with that perfect ass is going to leave `Wow`. I followed her. When she remarks me at the stairs, she stops and talks to me. On the way to a taxi, I propose to pay 500 Dalasis for sex whole night. She accepted. We got a yellow taxi to my place and when we woke up, I paid her 500 Dalasis as aggreed and 100 Dalasis for tip. The sex was very good. Specially doggy style with her was a real carnival for my eyes and for another very important organ of me.

That was my first night in The Gambia. And my first and last time for paying 500 Dalasis!

I can't understand men who flies in 8 hours or more to The Gambia and pay the same price for sex as it is in London, Berlin, Copenhagen, Stockholm, New York, etc etc. What is the logic of that? And why you destroy destinations for cheap pussies by giving the same money as it is in your home town? Why? Why? Why?

    Rates and conditions at Sportsman

A single room costs at Sportsman only 700 Dalasis. Sportsman is totally girl-friendly. When I talked with the staff, a man called Joe told me, it's not their business if I bring 5 girls at the same time. I pay only for the room and nothing more.

I wanted to see a single room, too. There was air-condition in the room. A very large bed. Actually the room was also very large. (Shortly: It was not bad).

Sportsman is very close to Senegambia. You can walk in a few minutes and you don't need a taxi at all.

For booking a room you can contact Joe (Phone number: +220 7801089) or Derek (+220 7711218).

    Best regards,

Rates and conditions at Sarge's (Tafbel) Hotel

As I wondered whether Sarge's (Tafbel) Hotel is girl-friendly or not, I just personally ask the receptionist at Sarge's (Tafbel) Hotel about the rates and conditions in that particular hotel.

The Hotel charge you extra 1500 Dalasis (Sic! It is one tousand and five hundred Dalasis!) for each girl (and for each night) you bring to the hotel (and it doesn't matter you book a double room or a single room). So, it would be very expensive to stay there and monger. If you book a single room to yourself, it is 1400 Dalasis and for the girl 1500 Dalasis. Total damage is 2900 Dalasis! (Jesus! It's more than 90 Euros!)

Here are the rates for winter 2007:

    Single room - 1400 Dalasis/51,85 US Dollars/43,75 Euros/28,57 GB Pounds
    Double room - 1960 Dalasis/72,59 US Dollars/61,25 Euros/40 GB Pounds

The receptionist at Sarge's (Tafbel) Hotel informed me about the control the hotel-staffs make. They knock on your door and check if it is the same girl you pay 1500 Dalasis for each night.

Staying at Sarge's (Tafbel) Hotel is something like staying in a military camp or prison. Avoid it!

All mongers of the world, unit and protest hotels which charge for sky-high `joiner fee`!

General information about The Gambia (February 2007)

Here are some information about the current scene in the Senegambia area with references to some questions and requests:

    Tropocat,

It is definitely not necessary to hire a local guy. If you hire such a guy (I will guarantee that he will be a bumster if he is not a bumster already in a very short time. And you waste both your time and your money). In my second day a guy who works in a chance bureau asks me if I am interested in local and home girls. And he tells about a place where many decent girls make party. As he worked in a change office, I didn’t think that he could be a bumster. And we take a taxi, and meanwhile I ask about the girl. He told me, that the girl is 20 years old and she lives with her parents. But when we arrive to the place, I could see, that it’s a kind of local brothel and the age of girl was 27. Besides she was not `the queen of the village` as he told me. Any way, I just paid for the taxi (and it was 200 Dalasi, and nothing to him. He expected that I also pay something to him. But as he wasted my time with his lies, I would not pay any money to him).

    Fourniceight,

I appreciate your information, and once again you are right, when you write: `If you can find an honest local here in Gambia, he's either under 2 years old, or pushing up daisies. Never, never trust a Gambian. Ever!`

Never ever trust a Gambian. But prefer a Gambian prostitute than a prostitute who comes to Sierra Leone, Liberia, etc when you are in The Gambia. (I had a very bad day yesterday with a prostitute from Sierra Leone, who expected to get 600 Dalasi for making only `massage`). When you hear some prostitute speaks about `massage`, don’t think that sex was implicit in the word `massage`. Make a very clear deal before you take the prostitute to your place.

Always remember: you are a `white pig` in Africa. It doesn’t matter how your skin colour and your financial power would be admired.

Never ever carry your passport and other valuable things in your pocket, when you go to the action. (After I got a very bad experience with the prostitute from Sierra Leone, I went back to Senegambia. I paid 300 Dalasi for massage in my room to that ***** from Sierra Leone). In the late of night I have been in Totties, and somebody steal my wallet when looked a dance competition. I was lucky, because I had only 250 Dalasi in my wallet, and my passport is in the safebox in the guesthouse.

Be careful all time when you are in Senegambia, but be specially careful Thursday night, as it would be more crowded compared to other nights.

    Fourniceight,

Once again you are right when you write: `Africa is Africa and LOS is LOS`. I would also write about the differences between The Gambia and Thailand:

    1) Thai girls have beautiful hair. Gambian girls have artificial hairs.

    2) Thai girls are much more honest. It would be a miracle if you find a honest Gambian girl.

    3) Prices in a restaurant in Thailand is much more cheaper compared to the restaurants in Senegambia. Thailand is much more modern and developed compared to The Gambia.

I hope above would be useful.

    Best regards,

    KW.

A good Job opportunity for a local.

It seems that a lot of new comers come to Gambia for the mongering experience. Like myself, I will come for the first time in June or July. It would nice employment opportunity for an honest local to become a mongering tour guide for us new comers. If anyone knows of such a person I would be willing to hire them especially if they could be also hired as a driver.
