I think you know French very well, so you can feel safe in Abidjan. I know only English (no French, but I try to learn basics).

I will visit Ghana at the end of December and I start to think of visiting Abidjan as well. But I want to avoid any problems so I would probably avoid to walking in the evening.

Is the city safe during the day? What about safety in the evening/night?

What time streetwalkers start to 'work'. Before sunset?

I will start my trip in few days so I will be very glad for all opinions.

In order to get laid in Ivory Coast, you don't need to be fluent in french as the color of your skin or the size of your wallet will impress them more.

French people have the reputaion (and the habit) of being stingy, so I do even believe that your english accent will please many girls.
I saw some Spanish sailors who had a lot of fun with girls altough I could barely understand what that were trying to say in french.

But please, please, I beg American punters not to overpay girls as they do in every country. You could be generous and offer some gifts or some drinks to the ladies, but no need to act as if you were paying for a Us ebony pornstar.

Someone asked me if the Saint Germain disco is similar to the Florida disco in Nairobi. It is not at all the same : Florida is full of prostitutes, dozens and dozens and they all expect some money from one of the many punters inside.
Le Saint Germain is more like a nightclubs with a few hardcore pros (maybe 10 that will ask you for money) and many girls interested in meeting a white man (maybe 25 that will ask you nothing). It is not as crowded but there are no tourists at all, only a few expats (who never pay anything), a few soldiers (who never pay anything), so around 10 guys and 30 girls. On friday and saturday tough, it is a lot more crowded and more fun.

In the zone4, there are dozens of bars with virtually nobody inside except the waitresses. One only need to go inside, give his mobile number and that's a free date for the next afternoon.

No museums in Abidjan, no safaris in the country, no sights to be seen except maybe the nice beach of Bassam, means that there is no reason for ordinary tourists to visit this country (good news).

I stayed in Abidijan a couple of nights in 2002. Stayed at the Hotel Palm Beach and there were plenty of women hanging around there. The only hang up I had was the language. If I spoke French I am sure it would have been one of the most fun places on earth.

Absolutely no reason to be scared of Abidjan.. It is Heaven on earth for the one who is looking for freebies. My friend and I have met 51 girls in two weeks, it is That easy to score. I have been 16 times in Thailand, also ventured in manila, Angeles City but it is never as exciting as Abidjan.

Streetwalkers are plenty in Zone4 Bietry and expect around 5000 or 10 000 CFA; you can bring them to the nearby hotels Kenty, Golden Hotel or Chic Hotel, all located on the Rue du Canal. They dress very provocative but they are not really good looking. Who needs them anyway since mostly every girl in disco will be willing to sleep with you.
Kenty and Golden hotels have short time rooms but they also have larger suites an appartement available for 30.000 per day (no swimming pool btw).

On saturday and sunay afternoons, you could meet some girls at the popular swimming pool of the very nice Wafou hotel.

regarding pickup joints, Taxi Brousse and Saint germain are still the two most popular nightclubs. In those joints, there are always some girls who will follow you and expect nothing but your phone number and a taxi fare.
In Treichville, there are also some upmarket nightclubs (Ritz, Afrodisiak), mainly for Ivorians but any white guy will be welcomed.

As I have said before, Ivorien girls are sophisticated and a thousand more prettier than Cameroon, Congolese, Kenyan (yukkk) girls.
