I will be in Ghana in a couple of months. I plan maybe to drop by Ivory Coast/Abidjan as well because I understood the girls are very beautiful there? Or is it a myth?

Well, girls are beautiful, but I believe that Ghana is full of beautitiful ladies, and it is SAFER!!! I'm not jocking, Abidjan is becoming more dangerous, month after month, and everything, including girls, is becoming more expensive.

Where are good beaches in Ivory Coast?

Best beaches are near the Ghana border: there is a small town called Assinie Mafia that has a lot of small bungalows villages, on the lagoon.

If you go further west you'll arrive to Grand Bassam, which is a wonderful place and has some good hotels on the beach (look for Quartier France, which is the old town on the small strip between the sea and the lagoon).

There are beaches even at Abidjan, and one of the best hotel (sorry but I do not remember the name) is on the beach.

Anyway, the most beautiful beach I've seen is about 300 Km west of Abidjan, near San Pedro, in a small bay called Monogaga, where the sea waves are small and it is easy to swim, but it is difficult to get there easily, if you don't have a local friend (or maybe girlfriend) to escort you. You must take a bus from Abidjan to San Pedro, then a taxi.

I remember that it took a whole day for the trip, and those were better times, with a limited number of police stops on the road.

Beaches with action or should one bring a girl to the beach?

I've never seen a beach with action, you should bring a girl with you, but meeting a girl in restaurant or in any other place is easy.

However, I understand from some views that leaving Ghana and go to Ivory Coast/Abidjan is a waste of time?

Well, if you enjoy Ghana, stay there. I started visiting Ivory Coast in 1998, and every time I arrive there I see that everything is going in a bad direction.. I remember that about 8 years ago I visited Ghana and it was, in respect to Ivory Coast, a third world country. Now I see that the situation in Ghana is becoming better, and in Ivory Coast iti is becoming every day harder. The war has resulted in increased general poverty and worsened higienic conditions. And the new ruling class, illetterate but rich, is destroying the country and increasing the prices (even the prices for girls is increasing..) In any case, you must speak french, or you're lost.

Thanks for your PM asking me to put my 5 cents worth down here.

I agree that security is a problem there. I am aware that many of the girls are tall and darker skinned a little like the Sudanese color.

I would suggest that if you are a non African looking man, that you take one of these steps.

Organise and hire a driver/body guard through your Embassy in Africa. This person will be trustworthy. You will then be able to have confidence in going where he recommends you to go.

or

Skip the Ivory Coast and head straight to Free town Sierra Leon. It is a safe paradise for beautiful women and many look some what similar to the Ivory Coast women.

That sounds as an alternative but is it really true that the girls are similar? I'm extremely impressed with the Ivory Coast girls I have seen on AI! My experience:

1. At hair dresser, plateau (centre of town): the shampoo lady insisted in shampooing my hair before haircut, and as it was extremely hot around lunch time, I accepted. No one in the salon but me, the hairdresser (a lady) and the sampoo lady. She kept me for a while, talking to me nicely. What do I do, where I stay, if I am married. She is in her 30s (probalably late 20s), with a perfect body and delicate face. I could feel the heat in her. So we decided to talk nicely about boyfriend/girlfriend issues (still shampoing for more than 10 mn) and she asked if I liked african ladies like her, and I admited, asking her if liked me.

After I had my hair cut (by the other lady), she got my coat and gave me her phone number. Regarding accomodation, I did stay in Novotel, Le Marly and Le Wafou.
Le Wafou along the lagune has seen better days, but there is a very nice swimming pool, a good restaurant, it also seems to be a hangout place for the expat crowd, BUT they do charge 5000 FCFA for overnight guests unless you book the more expensive Double room.
Le Novotel has comfortable rooms, it has a nice swimming pool where I have never seen any swimmers, but the location is bad if you want to enjoy the nightlife as you would have to cross the bridge ( police control from 9pm).

Rates for a girl do vary but it seems to be a lot cheaper than some other African countries : Streetwalkers 5000-1000 FCFA shorttime, 20000 long time and the WG inside the nightclubs are mostly around 20000.

I have been wanting to visit Cote D'Ivoire, the girls are simply some of the most stunning in all of Africa and therefore the world but unfortunately the security situation there is so dangerous at present, especially so for an obroni which makes a trip there for a newcomer to the country an extreme risk. Hopefully the current political negotiations will bear fruit and start to resolve the current crisis in what used to be one of the most prosperous countries in all Africa.
