Here is an update about the nightlife in Abidjan :

The two most popular pick-up joints ( Saint-Germain and Jimmy's) for foreigners are to be found in the Zone4 area. It is very packed on friday and saturday and they can be a little bit too quiet from sunday to wednesday night, but there will always be some semi-pros inside.

Another popular and elegant nightclub in Zone4 is Scotch near the Rue Paul Langevin, it has a swimming pool outside but seems to attract more couples rather than single girls.

There will be many small bars also in the same area Zone4 but you would have to wait that the bar closes before you can take one of their girls :
- Foxy's with a few acrobatic and energetic gogo-girls
- Pti't Folies on the Rue Paul Langevin with a dozen girls willing to perform a dance while she sits on your knees
- Kiss Me bar and El Paso bar on the Boulevard de Marseille

The Cabane Bambou that used to be the most popular place is now only open on friday and saturday but not much happens inside. While I was there, there was a good reggae band but there were only 5-10 girls dancing.
The Moulin à Huile is closed and the Whisky àgogo has been replaced and is now patronized only with african customers.

in Treichville, I found a gem, the Meridien Bar. The boss is an Egyptian lady and that bar has some Moroccan prostitutes and some Fillipino Prostitutes. Apparently, the rate for the night is around 50.000 CFA which is 5 times the usual rate for one Ivorian princess.

Streetwalkers can be found at Cocody in front the Ivoire Hotel on the Boulevard Latrille, in the 2Plateau area on the rue des Jardins, in the Plateau area right in front the Novotel entrance and of course in the Zone4 at the Rue Mercedes and in all the small adjoining streets. The rate for these girls is between 5000 to 15000 FCFA and they can be brought to the nearby clean Kenty Hotel that rents rooms for 5000 CFA for one hour.

The local population was friendly enough but the Police is quite annoying; Every night, there are always some police controles on each boulevard. Whether they ask directly some tip to pay them a coffee or they will scrutinize your passport for long minutes before you give them a 1000 Cfa tip.
From Zone4 to the Rue Princess area in Yopougon, I have been controlled at least 6 times.... what a waste of time and it is certain that Abidjan will never attract tourists as long as the police keeps begging for money all the time.

Some other interesting nightclubs are "Vendome" in le Plateau and "Ritz" in Treichville next to the Midnight nightclub. In those clubs, local guys who want to look like P. Diddy spend a fortune drinking champagne and of course, it attracts many loose girls. Looking at those girls move on the dancefloor is worth the expensive airfare to Abidjan.

About the food, it is simply the best food that I have eaten outside Europe.

I returned from Abidjan last week.

The situation is very calm, and you don't feel the tension that was there some times ago.

I don't suggest to go there, for now.

Anything can happen, even a military coup.

The higienic situation is worsening.

Somebody is gaining a lot of money from the war situation, and the prices are increasing.

Even girls, at least those who know their "value", are demanding more.

Some has got a fixed boyfriend, who is paying for her car and her house's rent.

They will not have an "affaire" with another man, or they will lose everything.

I did not went to visit the night clubs and the "boites a nuit", but my local friends say that those in the "African" districts (expecially in Treichville's rue Princesse) are still operating and full of willing girls, but THOSE PLACES ARE NOT SAFE FOR WHITES (at least not for single whites: you can go there if you are with local friends).

The lovely hotels on the beach of Grand Bassam are closed (no tourists there), so it is difficult to take a week-end break.

I got a phone call from a former girl-friend, wo used to work sometime in some night club, and she says she was leaving for Togo, because she was offered to work in Lome.

We had a good-bye meeting, but this is another story.

I lived there for two years and hated every second I was there. Used to frequent a place called the Blue Lagon in Du Plateau. There were good looking women working there, but the damn place was expensive. About $5 for a beer.

If you are looking for women just go to the Hotel Ivoire. There are everywhere. I got into the elevator once and had three girls get in with me offering their services.
