Not a traveler to Liberia so no help there. I did look at visa's and tickets. I considered Liberia, Sierra Leone, Ghana and Gambia for my most recent foray though all but S Leone (Freetown) require physically shipping my passport to the consulate which I was not interested in. I did get an e-visa for Kenya (as I did with TZ), thinking MBA but flights were about 50% more expensive compared to flights into Dar, TZ for me; I ended up in Dar, again. Perhaps MBA later this year with no regrets as Dar is target rich.

I had also considered DKR, Senegal as no visa requirement but tickets were equally expensive with MBA and I am not a francophone, so there would be that. I received a return call from the Sierra Leone consulate that the caller assured me a visa would be issued on arrival; would definitely want to confirm that with the airline but Freetown would be a close pick behind MBA. FWIW.

As real as it gets! Depends on the country. In Liberia and other West African countries, it is about being seen with a "wealthy" foreigner and with a white person. Whiteness is a social construct and there are shades of whiteness. I would get even more attention if I was whiter still.

    Bernard's Beach

Spent two lazy afternoons at Bernard's beach. Never a dull moment there. Here's an incredibly bizarre experience that can happen only in Africa, and only in Liberia!

The standard protocol is to walk near the beach and smile at everyone. Liberians are gregarious people and will invite you over. Families, men, women, everyone. They will share their food and beer and you do the same. There are several natural pool formations at Bernard's beach which is more relaxing than being in the waves.

This 22 year old was with her older sister who waved me over and we hung out in the water and chatted for some time. The chubby older sister was all over me sliding and rubbing against me and getting the younger one to take our photos (not a fan but an effective way to get your bodies closer together and hold tight / grope). I was trying to get the younger sister to come in the water and so insisted that we take a photo of all three of us, and then a photo of me and the younger sister. When I tell the older sister this, she goes "ok, I will call my boyfriend" and sure enough she yells and this guy shows up and takes our photos. Go figure!

The BF was out chatting with some guy on the beach and then joined us in the water. Just what I wanted since I could now focus on the younger sister. We got comfortable very quickly and I cupped her little boobs the entire time that she sat in front of me in the water. She didn't mind me playing with her bottom but was uncomfortable with me touching her pussy. (She told me later that she was shy in front of her sister.) Funny enough, the older sister's BF tried to do the same (to his girl) and she just moved his hands away. And so this poor fellow was chatting with his GF from far and ogling at me as I was snuggled up with my girl lovingly cupping her boobs and playing with her nipples. Again, go figure! Everyone was happier still when I gave the BF some money to get beer for all of us.

Finally, around 6 pm, we got out of the water and the girls offered me their towel since I didn't have one. They picked up their bags and started walking towards the lagoon where there are some bushes for privacy. My girl just pulled my hand and said, "come". I took my clothes and walked over with the two sisters behind the bushes. The BF tried to follow but the older sister told him to just stay there! As soon as we were behind the bushes the girls looked around and seeing no one in eye shot just stripped naked and started wringing their clothes. I did exactly the same. The girls eyed me over and I did the same. The chubby one was pretty hairy and my girl had light stubble. The older sister tapped me gently just above my privates and did the same with her sister. "Naughty," she laughed and moved few feet away. I helped my girl dry up meticulously and she did the same. I don't think we missed any spot on each other's bodies. I pressed my dick against her belly but she gently rubbed my balls and said "no" and pointed to her sister. We dressed up and walked back to the beach where the unhappy BF was eagerly waiting for us. I avoided all eye contact with him; I know how painful it is to be snubbed like that. While I got their numbers, as always, they never worked and I was not able to reconnect in the last two days I had left. The older sister did return my call as I was on my way to the airport. Maybe next time. No sex. But who cares, it was a long fun afternoon.

On a side note, the Badoo quality was abysmal. In the past, I have pulled a couple of 7's and one 9 from Badoo. But this time, the pickings were slim. I met one 28 yr old lady at a beach in the city but she wasn't my types. She did give me a nice semi-public HJ on the beach (near CBD) though which was fun.

    Lagoon Find

Was walking along Tropicana beach late in the morning when I saw a bunch of ladies in the lagoon on the other side. They waved me over and invited me to swim with them. When I explained that I didn't have my swimming trunks with me, they said, "no problem, just come". I undressed to my briefs and jumped in the somewhat cold water. They helped a little by splashing water on me. I warned them that I will have to punish them, and one of the beauties stuck her bottom out. The slap must have hurt because she vigorously rubbed her jiggly bottom while laughing away. We played around in the lagoon and three of the girls stuck to me while the others went away. The one with the spanked butt asked me who I liked and I said I liked all of them and I would love to get to know them better. The first one actually just fell on me and we were belly to belly playing in the water. Holding and sliding against each other was a first-time experience for me. And it was amazing. She noticed that I had a stiffy and the head was out of my briefs, and she pointed that out to her giggling friends. After an hour of full-on groping and sliding and rubbing and chatting, I settled in with Diana (in the photo). I fingered her with my right hand while my left hand was wedged deep between her bottom with one fingertip inside her rosebud. Her eyes rolled when she climaxed in the water and held on to me for what seemed like forever. As I lay on my back in the shallow water, she straddled me while casually chatting with her friends until I erupted between her butt cheeks. We hung out for almost three hours before I had to walk back to my hotel to get some water. I got her number and tried calling several times but it was switched off.

    Liberia

I received my Liberian visa in person from their embassy in Conakry, Guinea, which is located in north of town near the new giant Chinese mall. Very simple: dropped off passport and retrieved it next day with visa.
    Good tip!

I met a forum member in Conakry who did the overland route from Sierra Leone to Conakry and back: he likely can give you details.
Can you PM me his details?

There used to be direct government busses from Conakry to Freetown but they don't run anymore. You can now take a 7 places taxi from car park 'Bembeto' in Conakry to downtown Freetown.

I read a recent report from a traveller who crossed the land border from Guinea to Sierra Leone and got his Visa on arrival without any problem. This in contrast with a recent visit I made to the embassy of Sierra Leone over here. They where throwing all sorts of obstacles. I had my yellow fever certificate with me but that wasn't good enough. I should have made a copy. As if they don't have a copy machine in the embassy. Then I needed a letter of invitation and of course an email of my hotel confirming my stay. And a letter explaining why I wanted to visit Sierra Leone and a letter detailing my itinerary. On top of that they charge you 100 Euro when you can get a VOA for 80 USD. Sometimes you wonder if they really do want tourists to visit their country.

Liberia is very high on my to do list. I haven't gone yet for the following reasons.

    1) Liberia is one of the poorest countries on earth. The GDP per capita is lower than that of Somalia but the prices for accommodation are outrageous. However, I believe once on the ground one will be able to find something half decent at a decent price. I did find this place. The Liberian Beach Guesthouse 25 USD singles and 35 USD doubles. https://www.tripadvisor.co.nz/Hotel_...do_County.html.

    2) Flights where expensive until now but I saw recently that you can fly with Royal Air Maroc from Brussels with Air Maroc for 433 Euro. That's not too bad.

    3) Safety but that is for a large part a subjective feeling in contrast with objective crime levels.

I don't necessarily always agree with Neddy. I for instance have a different opinion on the Gambia. I was there 2 weeks before he wrote his damning report. But I have learned a lot from him and I still do today and if he ever does publish a guide I will be the first to buy a copy.

    Flat chest + Round Bottom

Connected on a popular dating site. Met up for a soda and a good conversation along the beach. When I casually asked her where she lives, she refused to tell me because I could be a serial killer. Few minutes later I joked that she could be a serial killer and (pointing at her very flat chest) actually a man dressed up as a woman. She acted offended and ran off. Only to come back 30 seconds later, take my hand, and put it under her skirt. "Check me" she said and I obliged. She gripped by arms and hugged me while my fingers explored every nook and cranny under her skirt and inside her knickers. Two minutes later, she was so wet that I could barely feel her pussy. We fucked in the afternoon and while she had the perfect bottom and loved doggy, she was just too wet and big for me. Its funny how skinny girls often have large pussies and plump chicas have the tightest ones.

As for Monrovia: there's no place on earth like it (an American colony! With antebellum cuisine on every menu. Really.) Anyone who says they travel does not want to miss this country — it is unique. The girls were exceptionally willing, accessible, and accommodating. A note of caution for guys who like to boss around and otherwise exploit the vulnerable: Liberians (male and female) do not take shit. Safety: no more unsafe than Angola. Costs for hostelry: I surely would not want to try to stay here on the cheap, but I'm no expert on low-budget travel. Guidebooks are absolutely useless for Liberia, at least maybe an edition of Uncle Neddy's the Dirtbag's Guide to Africa gets into print.

    Destination choice

My original plan was to take a cheap flight to Guinea Conakry and travel from there over land to Sierra Leone. But I will need a multiple entry visa for Guinea as I still have to catch my return flight in Conakry and the usual tourist visa is single entry. I phoned the Guinean embassy but the lady at the phone didn't seem to comprehend my questions so I'm going to visit the embassy in person to get the right answers. And anyhow I still would need another visa for Sierra Leone.

Then by accident I saw a flight from Royal Air Maroc from the center of Europe to Monrovia for 412 EUR. That's a bargain considering the fact Liberia is one of the more expensive flight destinations in Africa. But there are many possible reasons why one wouldn't want to visit Liberia. Housing is one of them and from what I read although not as bad as it used to be the security situation is not the best of West African countries. The police is pretty corrupt, there are many unknowns and not a single decent travel guide to be found.

That brings me to the elusive Bradt guide of 2015. Or they intended to but never printed the edition or they printed it in very small numbers. You can't find a copy of the book anywhere. I searched for the book through bookfinder maybe the best search engine to find a new or second hand book online. Not to be found. You can also not find a single review by a reader. Not even on any of the different international Amazon websites. Strangely enough, since 2016, the writer Anne Kennedy publishes an e-book guide on Liberia in her own name but not Bradt.

I have the Lonely Planet for West Africa. For budget housing it's useless.

Thanks for the info on horizonsunlimited. I didn't know the site. The search engine for housing / month was also interesting but as a newbie in a country I don't think I immediately would rent a place for a longer period of time. I would want to know for sure if I like a certain city and what area I would like to stay at.

You going to be hard pressed. 30 $ in Monrovia is a pipe dream. Liberia is one of the countries I researched. But accommodation prices are outrageous. I suspect its going to be cheaper outside Monrovia. I'd go to Robertsport. Prime surf spot. If I were you I'd go to Sierra Leone instead. Better developed. Go to sweet mothers guest house. The rooms should go for 30 $. WestAfrica in general is more expensive when it comes to accommodation. 20 $ and up a night minimum. And Liberia is a USDollar (pegged 1:100 to the Liberian Dollar) based economy versus Sierra Leone which has the basically worthless Leone as currency. I'll contact my intelligence network. I'll let you know if I find a cheap? Guesthouse. I guess the lowest you can go will be 50$...

    Mamba Point.

Will be staying in Cape Hotel in the Mamba Point area. I heard there is a casino next door. Oceano? Does anyone know whether it's worth visiting. Any up to date information on the local club scene in and around Mamba Point will be greatly appreciated.

I heard there were big demonstrations this week. How is the security situation right now. Should I take any precautions when moving around at night.

    Thanks for your advice!
