Went to Lila Brown last night (Saturday). Directly across from the Mamba Point Hotel. Arrived at 10:30, left at 11:30. Nice restaurant / bar filled with a mix of locals & ex-pats. Saw two possible WGs but no guarantees.

After that Club Gossip, the old Deja vu. Had originally arrived at 10:00 & was WAY too early. Returned at 11:45 & the place was quite full. The place ultimately got packed around 12:30. Not my thing: $10 US cover, $4 beers (okay), $15 margaritas (not okay). Music was loud; normal conversations were not possible. It was dark until about 1:30 when they turned on the strobes & dance floor lighting. At that point you could see the heavy smoke in the air and actually see the person sitting across from you. Service was good, no complaints there. There were several WGs inside (or maybe just local gals dressed sexy for a night out dancing? Had a few girls openly flirt with me inside but I was with my GF & it wouldn't be possible to talk to them anyway, unless you both headed to the restrooms (there's a small lighted common area between the two). The ladies room door is always open & I had several flirt with me from inside the ladies room (at the wash basin) as I walked by & peered inside.

Upon leaving at 2:30, outside was pretty packed as well. Cars were parked on both sides of the road for about a block. More importantly, there were many girls outside (lacking the $10 cover, I suppose) and even though I was trailing my GF as we left several gals openly hit on me. Some were quite pretty.

In conclusion: if you're young, get there after 11:30 & dance your heart out. If those days are behind you, hit the place around 2 in the morning (Fri / Sat / Sun nights; maybe others) & don't go in. The street outside has lots of opportunities & the parking lot has lots of opportunities. I would chat up a bunch of girls & take numbers, then maybe pick one out for the night. I would not pay more than $50 for the night.

Had dinner & drinks last night at Heinekin. Dinner for 4 girls & drinks for 5 totaled a little less than $100 US. Not good for mongering.

GF used Ivory Coast Airlines from Ghana to Liberia & they broke open the lock on her bag and stole a bunch of clothes (used) and shoes (used). The airline was essentially useless in compensating her. So, my recommendation is to avoid that airline.

Hopefully I'll check out Deja Vu tomorrow evening.

Bought a bunch of African shirts for my GF in Costa Rica why su amigas. Went to the factory in the center of Monrovia. Again, the only white face in thousands. Never felt uncomfortable & got the shirts for $15 & $20 US. The same shirts are going for $50 in Minneapolis. Not cotten but Lapis (sp? An African fabric. Anyway, she's happy & I just have to cart them back.

Can't book hotels on line, the girls come in shades of black, filthy dollar bills. Sounds like this is your first time in Africa. Any issues getting around off the beaten track what with the recent epidemic situation?

My first time to Western Africa. I've been to about 80 countries & I've seen a lot; little surprises me anymore. I was trying to give a picture of Monrovia for those interested. I've had no issues in traveling but I'm not much of a tourist person. I've seen most everything I have an interest in so I have no real interest in leaving the creature comforts (of Monrovia.

The Ebola issues are a thing of the past; it's now against the law to eat most Bush meat including monkeys & bats, much to the dismay of most of the locals but they seem to understand. There are igloo coolers everywhere with water & clorox for cleaning hands & most everybody does.

I'm saddened by the poverty but overall I'm very comfortable here.

Now at the Royal Grand Hotel. Arguably the best in Liberia. Normal price is $250 a night (USD). Through my contacts I got corrupted.You cannot book any hotel in Liberia online. None. The best you can do if you don't have a contact is to e-mail the hotel & work it that way. Trivago with their 250+ sites shows zero options for Liberia. So, if the RGH is outside your budget, research for a list of hotels in Liberia but skip the booking sites. The girls come in all shades of black, though the darker shades tend to be more prevalent.My new friend here is Bottom line: there are many clubs & bars where girls are available. They will want a lot like $200 but most can be had for $50 .

Obligatory Disclaimer:

One of my girlfriends is a native-born Liberian who was moved to Minneapolis during the refugee crisis 11 years ago. She has a US passport but not a Liberian passport (yet). This was her first trip home in 9 years. I'm with her this trip so all I can do is report from the outside.

Liberia:

Very poor with a GNP if about $500/ year. The families I met live in concrete houses without running water or electricity. Most are living on less than $100 a month. So far (day 3) I have only seen white faces at the airport & my hotel (a gazillion NGOs here). And I've walked among or seen 10,000 people on the street so far. This is a walking or crammed-mini bus culture. Probably not good if you are a prejudiced white guy. They think they speak English but I'll just say it ain't so. Yes the educated ones (a distinct minority) have good English skills. Most have two or three languages Liberian English & maybe their original tribal language plus American English that is difficult to understand. You will have to concentrate to understand them in American English. You'll be totally lost in Liberian English. So far I have felt very comfortable and very welcome.

Crime:

It's a poor country; act accordingly. Nothing flashy; protect your valuables in a hotel safe. All the locals say the same.

Money:

The Liberian Dollar. Right now about 88 $ Liberian to $1 USD. Everybody takes & prefers USD. None of the bills would be recirculated in the USA they are all filthy. I changed $1000 US for local money when I arrived. My stack of Liberian dollars was about 6 inches high. Amazing. No need to change money or maybe only a small amount for tips, though tips are not typically given by the locals.

Hotels:

Expensive. First night was at the Palm Springs Hotel. $180 a night with a casino. It would be difficult to impossible to sneak a girl inside; I don't know how they would respond.

Now at the Royal Grand Hotel. Arguably the best in Liberia. Normal price is $250 a night (USD). Through my contacts I got a decent reduction. They all say they have high speed internet. Not true; excruciatingly slow & most attachments download corrupted.

You cannot book any hotel in Liberia online. None. The best you can do if you don't have a contact is to e-mail the hotel & work it that way. Trivago with their 250+ sites shows zero options for Liberia. So, if the RGH is outside your budget, research for a list of hotels in Liberia but skip the booking sites. I found one site that listed about 4 pages of hotels with e-mails but damned if I know what I did with that site; it was by an arm of the government promoting business, I think. Then e-mail them directly. I e-mailed 4 hotels before my GF confirmed I had a room. Two responded 1-2 days later. So you'll have to plan well ahead of time.

Flights here are expensive & long. If you want to combine countries it's difficult. My GF started off in Ghana then for $800 US got a flight from Accra to Africos to Sierra Leone to Monrovia, Liberia. I'm not sure of her return route. I went from Louisiana to Houston to Chicago to Brussels to Monrovia. Quicker to go to Thailand. My return route is Monrovia to Dakar, Sierra Leone to Brussels to Frankfurt to Houston then home. Pain in the ass.

Girls:

They are either fat (older) or quite voluptuous. Big tits & asses. Almost always. They dress sexy and seem quite open to foreigners. By foreigners I mean chubby old white men like me (63 y / o). Although I have a lot of time alone here I haven't pursued any but they are quite easy to strike up a conversation with and to flirt with. I thought many if not most of the young girls (say in their 20's) were quite pretty some flat out gorgeous.

The girls come in all shades of black, though the darker shades tend to be more prevalent.

How to have fun:

My new friend here is the head of security at the hotel. PM me for contact info. Bottom line: there are many clubs & bars where girls are available. They will want a lot like $200 but most can be had for $50 for the night (all USD). Be careful of the thieves & scammers. He has offered to assist in selecting the girls and / or talking with them to protect the monger (that's his job security of his customers). This is important he said there is no problem checking a girl in with you particularly if he has helped "clear" her. They do not want problems in the hotel so only one girl at a time. I had no problem checking in with my Liberian GF.

Additionally I think no westerner would be comfortable taking public transportation or renting a car in this country. Taxis are few & far between. So hire a car & driver. Also available at my hotel for about $50 for the day. If I were to return solo & not have my GF's sister driving me everywhere I wanted to go I would stay at the RGH (Royal Grand Hotel), head down to the (protected) outdoor smoking area & ask for a car & driver then negotiate my deal.

Bring an unlocked phone. You can get a local sim card (I don't know how much) but one of the boys there will take care if it for you. Then you can buy time for get this - $1. 00 US for five days of unlimited calling (to cell phones in Liberia only).

Finally I'll try to add additional information as the week goes on.

Spoke to two girls last week and they were scared to death. Schools and business locations were shut down most of last week so I imagine the night clubs were also shut. Considering how easily you can contract the virus by touch, mongering is the last thing on anyone's mind now.

Was in Monrovia for work last week. Stayed at the Golden Key Hotel on Robertsfield Highway for $160 a night. Old but decent and clean hotel with complimentary breakfast. Very girl friendly as with all the hotels in Monrovia. Visited the Hill Top Bar on Broad street. Apparently a lot of government officials hang out here. Lots of nice girls and all available. The owner of the bar is a woman too. Pick a nice 20 year old. Very nice and skilled in bed but weak blow job skills. See attached picture. Sorry no nudes as she adamantly refused.

She mentioned club theéjà vu and club temptation as other venues one can meet cute girls. Walking around I saw some nice and curvy women. Liberian women are incredibly curvy and sexy.

I did go back to Monrovia and to the Mamba Point Hotel. I found out it was not too difficult to talk to the girls cleaning the rooms. One declined to roll in the hay on religious grounds. But strangely was willing to bring a friend from town which I declined. She then advised which of her colleagues might be available. Again I did not show obvious interest but insisted she was the one to be. On my next visit I will press her further, along with her recommended friends on her blind side.

The bellboys (upstairs) at the MPH also connected me twice.

But staff are cheaper and certainly cannot give trouble. The Casino at MPH has some 20 chicas all of them "f*able'. I wish I can find a way to hook up with one or two.

The bellhop was willing to hook me up with chicas but I had to focus more on work as well as deal with TD. My experience in other countries has been hotel staff are available, but our hookups took place away from their work place and my primary accommodation (Ghana and Sierra Leone). Beware though! MPH has cameras on each floor and the entry hallway. Plus, the manager has a habit of popping in to check on the room cleaners. But I did notice that one of the cleaners would hang out in one of the rooms down from mine. If it wasn't for the smoke and musk smell, I might have pursued something with the lady who mostly cleaned my room.
