Muslim religion laws may forbid unrelated women and men not to sit and have coffee or be in bars together, but Morocco is pretty relaxed. Of curse you can sit and have a coffee etc with a Moroccan woman. You will find many girls in bars and night clubs all over the place and they are there to meet men. Yes, you sit together and talk to each other, have drinks, yes, Muslim women do have drinks in bars and night clubs and bars and enjoy company of men. Regarding Taxi back to apartment, I have had the women's friend Taxi ordered and both do sit in Taxi back to apartment. But do read some of the cons in Marrakesh and maybe in Casa too where it may be better to go separately just in case the girls maybe in a con with Taxi / police etc. No problem in Agadir. Life is a lot different in modern day Morocco. What you are quoting is the Muslim laws about the presence of of unrelated girl in a private space is illegal. True and majority of the hotels apply that rule. If you take a woman to a hotel, you have to get a separate room. Reason why mongers use an apartment instead. Even then, you have to give some money to the security guards at the apartments. That's all they want, money. The King has given women a lot of rights in Morocco as he has two daughters and knows. A blind eye is turned to prostitution as it is a big contributor to the economy (sex tourism). You can walk with a Moroccan woman on the street, no big deal. I have also sat with them, and chatted them. Just be respective to the Muslim traditions and don't start feeling the girl in public and kissing her deep!

Prostitution illegal what a crap. There were official moroccan Army brothels in Layoune in the 1990's where I served as UN civilian Staff.

You must understand prostitution is illegal in Morocco, not only that but being in presence of unrelated girl in a private space is illegal! So you must be aware of the huge risk if caught by police, you will be in deep shit. More over it is not fun being in prison cell in Morocco. In other forum I heard some police raids has recently taken place in Marrakesh. I will never set foot in Morocco for mongering but the country is great for site seeing and great tourism destination.

Three people might be informants and trick you in some blackmail.

1. the prostitute.

2. the taxi driver.

3. the security guard at the apartment.

I initially wanted a villa but apartments in Gueliz seem to be better according to the forum so I've found a few on AirBnB. How do I go about approaching the landlord about bringing girls back? Do all apartments have a security guard present that questions you on arrival?

An issue is I am partially sighted and also do not speak the language so quite nervous regarding finding girls and not being seen doing so etc. I'd be grateful if anyone has any reliable contacts of girls they've seen before? Also if you could point me in the right direction regarding accommodation. I will create a detailed report after the trip for everyone.

As previously discussed do not ask landlords about bringing girls back as they won't want to risk implicating themselves, be more subtle, ask if the apartment has a discrete entrance or a security guard. Most of them will have security but they'll most likely look the other way if you give them a small bribe (try 100 dirhams). Sometimes the security guard lives in the same building so may be sleeping, so you may try sneaking the girl in quietly and sending her off before everyone wakes up but ofcourse this is risky. Another option is to book a hotel for your first night and then walk around until you find someone who can "get you whatever you may need", they can show you girl-friendly apartments but will usually expect a commission for themselves, the same guys will have a list of girls they can get you in touch with (again, for a fee). Ofcourse there's always the chance you'll get scammed but that's Marrkech for you. Another option is simply asking the hotel desk if you can bring a girl. Some will outright refuse, others will want bribes for each staff member that sees you bring her in (this could get costly), when I stayed at the Corail Hotel in Gueliz they simply wanted you to take an extra room at a somewhat inflated price (600 dirhams back in 2013 when I stayed there).

I do find Agadir a bit more laid back and cheaper but for non-mongering activities I do enjoy Marrakech much more. As for getting around, taxis will always over charge tourists but try to settle for max 30 dirhams during the day, 50 dirhams at night, but you may find yourself paying more. Generally I got by ok with just english. Sometimes takes a little effort and some girls are reluctant to go with someone who speaks no french or arabic but you should manage to find a big enough pool to pick from regardless. Avoid looking nervous, act like you do this all the time, never admit you've never been there before, and have the number for the local police saved on your phone. Anyone gives you trouble make it clear you're calling the police, the locals would be in a lot more trouble than you when it comes to mongering, so chances are they'll stop harassing you.

Now I may have made Morrocco sound dangerous, but I'm just preparing you for the worst case scenario with my warnings. Just take some precautions and you should have a great time!

Language is an issue if you can't speak French and Arabic but that can be fixed with google translate. Its not ideal but it does the job. When I get to Marrakesh I usually get myself a sim card and top it up with credit with allows me to make local call and also date so I can use the internet.
