i certainly do enjoy the quality and accuracy of most reports given by all of you. still fighting on the front of combat. i myself have been unfortunately relegated to the quality of. "peep joe" or "voyeur" if you prefer french terminology. not because i enjoy this condition but mostly due to some constraining aspects that have occured in my tedious life over here in scandinavia!

i have gone through things. in a few years time that most human beings would not cope with. but that is another matter. let us forget about that and proceed to the issue that matters and the reason i added this very humble comment!

i was earlier in my life among other things a former officer in the oil offshore business. i actually made part with great pride of the first prospection opperation for oil in the offshore waters of senegal during the winter 1992!

this gave me the privilege of meeting influential people and due to my broad knowledge of languages allowed me to enjoy my time in the beautiful and spiritual city of dakar!

allow me to say that i fully agree with you that most action is around the cap vert casino at yoff area. . this means around the airport vicinity!

the casino is the best spot namely if you speak french. they had during my stay the discotheque. if my memory does not betray me. downstairs from the gambling rooms!

the discotheque was for us womanizers one of the best spots i have ever seen around the world. and believeme i have travelled a lot around. and i live in sweden. which says quite a bit!

when i first came there at the evening of my arrival from geneva with swissair. i had gambled away all my money i had a suite booked by my company at a nearby hotel the diarama. i was invited drinks all night by the pianist of the casino that i had met while gambing earlier that evening upstairs in the gambing area. a lebanese young gentleman that perceiving my frustration after having seen all those cutie things and not having any "spendulies" showed a great act of male solidarity with me. and i had the best time of my life. when it was closing time i think 4 am (the chopper would pick me up at 8 am) the trouble was. how to politely turn down 8 gourgeus young ladies that insisted in following me into the hotel. that gentlemen is a peace of art itself! . i mean to do it in a way without hurting feelings1

well i managed to convince that i could only take with me a couple (both were refugees from liberia). and i was expecting the chief cook my country fellow (portugal) to give me a hand. . but he insisted in being happily married so i was all left alone. the ladies were a crack. i do not remember ever in my life having sex and laughing at the same time. it may sound to all of you ridiculous and disrespectful. but it occured a temporarily shortage of water supply after we all ended up in the shower. we were all soaked up with soap. and had to rub us off with the bed sheets. but it also was the state of mind of us all. probably. due to the treacherous influence of the intake of french champagne earlier that memorable evening!

i would like to give you guys some good advice. and my experience was that in avenue ponty you could make good eye contact with some pros in the cafe ponty. then there was a spot by the corniche -water front the kilimanjaro. where youssou n dour the best senegalese musician used to sing. plenty of students around. lyceenes. that means high schoolers!

there was also a club called le sahel near medina by the central mosque that was attended my numerous of non pros. young ladies of age varying from 18 years upwards and very friendly as most of them are if you are a gentleman! but. there is a catch. you should have some local young fellow following you. that helps you through a lot and gives you a good deal. do not misinterpret me. admission fees for the disco. !

i picked up a girl from there she became my guide in dakar daytime we used to go to the island of the slaves gore. a nice spot!

she had contacts with the french embassy and we ended up in fantastic parties with some influential people of the french foreign office. it was fantastic. i also had a good and privileged situation working in a very sensitive operation that could mean a lot to the political and economical future of the country. i was sort of a link between the americans and the french!

she was quite young. yacine hardly 18. i was 30 years. she had serious plans. but i did not wanted to commit myself. in terms of sex she was a debutant. she had not any experience she did not even know how to hold it. if you guys figure!

so i was a little bit supportive gave her some instruction while spending those exhausting siestas togheter at the hotel room (10 th floor with a magnificent view over the harbour and the coast line) and let her allways come home in the late afternoon. actually i insisted in that though she wanted to stay with me night long. and never asked me any money whatsoever. it was allways me taking the initiative to give her taxi money.

in the evening i was aiming for the big game. the ladies in the campus of the university of dakar. i had a professor. friend of mine and lecturer that lived there. and believe me guys. . if you ever get to that place you will hardly believe your eyes. is like an old political slogan " p. of all countries unite. "

at the university campus you english speaking guys you will have a gold mine. plenty of girls from english speaking countries trying to improve their. oral abilities in french. if you get it!

well i hope to have contributed with a little bit of information with this humble report. if any of you would like to get any info about other places in africa. or northern or southern europe just do not hesitate. shoot!

I have lived in Dakar for 2 years mid 2003-mid 2005 and I will try my best to clarify. Dakar is a very expensive city, it is an African city, As a visitor, day to day expenses are comparable to what you will find in Europe. Some hotels have been mentioned in previous posts. Ganalle is a superb choice and would be my top recommendation, will cost around $70 per night. I know the lady who owns La Ganalle, a wonderful French woman with her Lebanese husband. It is bar none the best place to stay in Dakar. Their hotel bar makes a great headquarters. Before I was living there, I always stayed at Hotel Al Baraka. They have nice rooms for $55 or so but I will never stay there again as they cheated me on my bill. Sofitel and Novotel are very expensive, perhaps $120-$150 per night and definetely not worth it. All of the hotels in the $40 and under range are dirty brothels.

The scene in Dakar is a little difficult to explain but I will try. I guess there are two kind of hobbyist. There are those who like to travel to places like Brazil or Colombia and share their vacation with a beautiful girl on their arm and a sure piece of ass at night. If this is your style (as it is mine) then Senegal is not the place for you. The other type of hobbyist I assume is just interested into spotting a fine specimin and sampling her. If this is your agenda then Dakar may be paradise on earth, even moreso then places like Rio or Havana.

I am always interested in only finding nice girls that I share something in common with and want to date for a few days. This is impossible in Dakar.

5PM-11PM - Pub like bars like Le Viking or La Grenelle - Beers $2, laid back pub atmosphere, any local girls in any bar in Dakar are for rent. Treat like you are picking up a girl at home, satisfaction guaranteed, These are respectable bars so no riff raff. Pricing negotiable in the AM. As a rule you only have $20 left (10000CFA) and give to her. If you have to shut her up give her another or a pack of disposable razors. This rule applies unless otherwise noted.

11PM-5AM. Africa Star or Black & White. $4 beers. Disco/Nightclub atmosphere. Girls here stricktly prostitution. Many agressive refugee drug addict girls. Not recommended as trouble may brew. (girls in with police, pickpockets, etc...) Definetely worth checking out

All Day

Near any hotel that is under $40 per night. Refugee girls, very agressive like animals almost. Yucky

11PM -5AM Thurs-Sat - French Bars

Bar Texas, Skynet, Alexandria

Lots of french people, lots of french marines, lots of local women trying to meet one of the above. Girls allowed into these bars are known by staff so chances of problem are greatly reduced. Every girl u see wants to meet you.

La Scala

Same as above but much better. By far the best club in West Africa. You will make friends with people from your country when you are there

These are the bars everyone goes to when everything is closed. Usually hoping weekends 4AM-Noon. Best on is La Siren. Dark Aley Scene. Excellent chance of getting pickpoketed, robbed if not on toes. Blowjobs in the bathroom kind of place.

Top 50, hole in the wall bar owned by greasy lebanese guy. Small bar, you sit alone at the bar drinking your $4 beer, There are 10 girls sitting at the bar with nothing to do. Pretty cool once the alchohol kicks in to be hanging out in a bar dancing, only you and 10 gorgeous women, all dreaming to be with you.

White girls:

Bar Alexandria on Fridays has a Cap Verdean band and many brazillian looking gals there. There are two beautiful sisters well known in town Zoina and Kathy, they are *****s just like the rest but their skin is different color. I knew I screwed up with my typing earlier. Decent hotels near the Place de l'Independance include the Teranga, the Novotel, the Lagon II, the Croix du Sud, as well as the Ganale Hotel (cheaper, smaller but clean and nice). All have a pool except for the Ganale and Croix du Sud (I think).

Do what I do - I usually stay at the Ganale (to save money) and walk over to the Hotel Independance to use their roof-top pool for a reasonable fee - you don't have to be a guest at this hotel to use their pool.

Other cheaper hotels near the "Place" include the Hotel Miramar and Hotel Farid, maybe Hotel Nina. But beware of the cheapest places such as Hotel Provencal (right on the "Place") or Auberge Rouge, both of which rent rooms by the hour to the working women and their customers. Remember - you get what you pay for.

Even the more expensive hotels such as the Teranga should offer special rates. Ask for the government rate, tell them that you're on a special mission for the US Embassy as a foreign aid consultant for "USAID," which is why you don't have an ID. Worked for me the last time I stayed there.

You have two realistic options - one is to bring back the girl to your hotel for the night, the other is to bring her to one of the short-stay places such as Auberge Rouge or Provencal. I usually go for the short-stay first, then bring the girl back to my hotel the second evening that I am with her.

As for St. Louis, best is to stay on the island itself. Try Auberge de Jeunesse, "L'Atlantide" on the north end, Avenue Jean Mermoz, best place in town to lodge dirt-cheap and meet other travellers, but may not be the best place to bring back a girl. Better hotels with a/c include Hotel du Palais and Hotel de la Poste, both old-style colonial hotels. Two luxury hotels that are on the mainland rather than the island are Hotel Mame Coumba Bang and Hotel le Walo, the latter has a decent nightclub.

I've only been in St. Louis once, several years ago, but you should have no trouble meeting girls and having a good time here.

Don't know if you will find a "inexpensive" hotel with a swimming pool near Place de L'independance.

One that comes to mind is the Sofitel Teranga right next to the square and it has a pool as well as Le Mandingo disco right outside the front door. When I visited, it was pumping with lots of loose babes.

I stayed at the Novotel (with pool) not far from the square at the bottom of Av. Albert Sarraut back in July and they charged me CFA80,000 the first night, then 63,900 for the next 2 nights. Can't say what the current rates are though.

The walk along Av Sarraut in the evening is interresting with the SW's pushing each other aside so as to get to you first. Saw one real beauty amongst the mostly undesirable ones there but she had just been taken by a punter ahead of me - damn!

I'm back in Dakar for a couple of days sometime next week and intend to stay in the Almadies area.

I have stayed at both the Ngor Diarama and Le Meridien President, but neglected to mention them since I thought that Cardinal II was only interested in staying downtown. Glad you took the time to point out all of the options available in the Ngor area close to the airport.

There is a bi-weekly newspaper called Tam-Tam available in some restaurants, hotels and offices. In the latest issue, there were four distinct advertisements from female providers for 'massage relaxant'. The girls do not speak English and seem to describe themselves quite accurately on the phone. They also live in outlying suburbs, near the airport etc. so they take a taxi in to see you. This is included in the prices quoted: 10000, 15000, 20000.

The service includes a 'rug and tug' and in my view is at least as enjoyable as a standard fuck from an average provider. Maybe I was lucky the first time since my provider was 20 years of age, lovely breasts and nice personality. She was 15000 and I tipped her 5000 extra for good service - which she said was totally innecesary. I told her that it was necessary since she was so delightful. SHe enjoys seafood and has accepted a dinner date. Unfortunately she was on the rag, so a 69er was out of the question. She blew me at times alternatively jacking me off with massage oil. Heavenly.

Saw little of note on the streets. I am decent looking but I found girls here are harder to approach than elsewhere in Africa. This all depends on where you think the "center of action" is. Plenty of action downtown but it's not a nice place to be unless you must be there for business purposes.

Have just spent some time in the Ngor area not too far from the Cap Vert Casino and can say that the Ngor Diarama charges CFA40,000/nite (~US$80) this can be negotiated to 35K or better. Le Darkasse (good name!) next to Skyner night club has rooms 25K to 30K. Le Meridien President opens at CFA 130,000, Club Med Almadies about half this. All are girl frendly.

The Almadies/Ngor area has some good beaches with good looking babes aplenty in the day time and there is lots of action around the Cap Vert Casino area. You will find SW's along the Casino road after dark and there is a rather dark area south of Skyner where a BBBJ can be had for CFA5,000 (~$10) but the quality is variably low, then again maybe I'm a bit critical.

After 11:00PM the paino bar at Cap Vert Casino is the place to start. Good lookers are available, and if you don't score then around 1:00AM just move downstairs to the disco because this is pussy heaven.

The trouble is most girls here are pro's and the starting price is way too high, usually CFA100,000 plus. Generally it can be negotiated down to CFA30,000 but expect an argument at payment time.

If the French language is natural to you then you could probably do better, and then again the girls I spoke to said that the French, Belgiums and Italians actually pay this much - doh!

Skyner Night Club down the road has a good selection of semi-pro and amateur girls that go there, again after 1:00AM is best.

Yes, the Meridien Hotel is girl-friendly, indeed virtually every hotel in Dakar (in most of Africa!) is girl-friendly.

One thing to note that I've written about before (but is worth repeating):

Sometimes at some of the better hotels, if you show up late evening with a girl on your arm, the front desk may ask that the girl leave her ID card at the front desk. Guys, this is for your own protection, not to harass you or keep track of your activities (the hotel staff could care less if you want to screw your brains out every night). This way, if the girl trys to rip you off and run away, or give you a bad time and run away, you can call the front desk downstairs and they'll refuse to give her back her ID card; or, if she steals your wallet and sneaks out a back door, the hotel staff can call the police and show them her ID card.

Chances are that most of the girls who you might meet already know about this requirement and will be prepared for it.

I returned to Dakar. After being disappointed with high drink prices and other inflated charges in some bars, I scoured the town center on foot and located one area with a reliable presence of girls on the street: Av Albert Sarraut, the main street east from Place Independance, starting at about 9 pm.

The girls I found there were not lookers in terms of face or sexy clothing... but great bodies and great service. You can get them for about 10.000 CFA although asking price may be much higher.
