Apparently Senegal changed its tax code in 2013 to offer foreign pensioners a 80% tax rebate on their foreign pension. In other word you get taxed on only 20% of your pension. The requirement however is that your pension gets transfered to an account in Senegal.

Has anyone any experience as to how local banks handle incoming transfers? It is hardly a good idea to save money on taxes on the one hand and lose it on extortionate bank charges on the other.

I only know of one other black African country offering tax packages to foreign pensioners and that is South Africa (not really a pussy country).

Just seems super inconvenient to call a bunch of places to try and find one close to where I am. I guess I could take a taxi if need be but I imagine one would be within walking distance (few blocks east of the Radisson Blu).

I noticed that some of the adverts give a neighbourhood as an indication for the location. So after the Google map sign it doesn't just say: "Dakar" but it gives a neighbourhood, such as "Yoff" (which is near the airport) or "Plateau" which is the business centre of Dakar and not so far from Radison.

NGor Island is a small island just North of the city of Dakar, near the Yoff airport.

(Not to be confused with the famous Goree Island, which is South of the city).

Many tourists, but also many local people visit the island, especially during the weekends. To reach the island you have to go in a large piroque, which gives some kind of a "boat-people experience" , or you can take a small private boat, which is more expensive.

I noticed that on the island there are always some working girls hanging around, waiting for customers.

This is on the "cheap side" of the island, on the right side, seen from the mainland, where the cheaper bars & restaurants are.

If you like to go with one of them they will take you to a room in a house on the island, which is available by the hour for that purpose.

I had the impression that most of the people hanging around there are smoking weed, it seems the island is (in) famous for that.

I was told most of the girls return to the mainland around 19.00 h.

I was for two days in Dakar, I went to Texas but it was almost empty and just old and not slim ladies inside. I left after on drink to the opposite bar, it was the same just old ladies. I found a young one and took here to my room, but after she had shower she did not look young anymore and her skinn looked awful.

We agreed on 20 000 CFA first but afterwards she started complaning it is so small money and bla bla. I gave here 5000 CFA taxi money to get her out of my room. Next day same. Texas filled with old ladies and the opposite bar I think is La Galeta.

With few not so pretty ladies. I left after on drink because the waitress betryed me with the exchange money and I complined and everone denied. I am very dissapointed about dakar, and the beer costs 4,20€ and the girls in La Galeta want to drink champane or wine.

Let me start to agree with others who say that if you don't speak French you will not find it easy to get into contact with the people there.

Very few people speak any or very limited English.

For example: even in the tourist capital Saly I did not see any menu in a restaurant that was written in English, or for that matter in any other language than French.

I can give some information about Kaolack and Saly.

Even though Kaolack is one of the largest cities in Senegal I found a very limited scene of clubs or places to meet women.

Probably because girls don't want to be seen in public with foreigners.

I think if you stay there for some time you will be able to make contacts, because well, I believe some of the most beautiful & gorgeous ladies can be found in Senegal.

They come in all sizes, shapes & colours, but most of them are very elegant & well dressed.

Also many of the taxi drivers, or those who carry passengers on their small motorbikes (Jakarta's) are eager to bring you into contact with "a sister" , a neighbour etc.

Anyway I found two nightclubs where you could possibly find a companion for the night, but they only start to fill up (if ever) after midnight.

There is the "Blue Bird" at the main road and near the Port and the "Hotel de Paris" there is the "Sine-Saloum" Nightclub.

BTW, in the daytime you can get good food at the Blue Bird restaurant, as well as at it's neighbour: "Brasero Chez Anwar".

In Saly I found the scene much livelier. After all it's LE "Petit France" of Senegal, much like Malindi is Little Italy in Kenya.

The place has been taken over completely by the French. Many have their own house there and everything is focused around them.

An advantage for sure is that you can get really good food there and the first rack near the door in the (French) supermarket is a wall of quality Champagnes. '.

For example at the Riviera Restaurant there is a daily 3-course menu (with a quarter of wine!) for 7,5 euro.

There are many buildings with "Discotheque" written on the outside, but many of them are closed during the off-season.

There are three clubs that I can mention, in order of attractiveness: the DRC (I don't know what that stands for, but definitely not Democratic Republic of Congo), a dark, rather run-down hole where many ladies are eagerly waiting for you.

A bit more nice is the King's Club, also filling up after midnight and there is the Rolls Club. As the name suggests this is the nicest place I have seen there.

I did not stay long enough in Dakar to see many places, I can just say that the bars & clubs in the old part of town (LE Plateau) are really for the hard-core profs and "LE Patio" which is mentioned in many reports and is in the up-standard residential and expat neighbourhood near the airport, well, LE Patio is really a "Pick & Pay" for anyone's choice.

I noticed one more thing, there are some small beaches in the "Almadies" neighbourhood behind LE Patio and next to the "Phare des Mamelles" (there are two hills, named Les Mamelles, meaning: "the Tits") where in the late afternoon many young people gather for a sundowner or a surfing session and if my eyes did not cheat me I am sure one can make some interesting contacts there.

Let me report on my trip to Dakar. I spent 2 weeks in Dakar. Before going, I made a few contacts on Tagged and Hi5. It was not easy to communicate due to language barrier since I don't speak french. However, I found a few girls who speak some English. They gave me numbers to communicate with them once in Dakar and I did just that when I arrived. Others were hostile and didn't want to entertain anything to do with linking up for a drink. Once in Dakar, I met with girl who later on came to my room. After dinner and a glass of wine she took a shower and I spent the night in her pussy. Gave her transport money in the morning and that was it. We had two more meetings during my stay.

I also met a girl at a place were I was buying some airtime for my phone. She could speak English because she is originally from the Gambia. First of all. I hope you know some French, because it makes everything a lot easier. I know because I am not good at French.

Well the easy choice, is to go Patio, which is placed in the north eatern part of Dakar. Close to Almadies and Ngor (suburbs). Her you will find all sort of different girls in the bar. You will find ugly, beautiful, tall, small, big. Everything. I even saw a one-legged girl there once. Some of them semipros who have been there for some time. But all of them looking for a man to take them away from Africa. So they can give you a good experience. The trick is though you pay them for the sex. But I guess you don't have to, if they become your girlfriend. All though that will probably not keep them from asking money from you. Usually I would say you pay around 20-30-40.000 cfa.

If you. Go inside the discotek then you will fine some girls that are more looking for a one night stand. They are not that professional, so they might be cheaper. There you will also find locals, who are just there for a good dance.

Generally they are looking for love all of them, and would very much like to come back to you. And would also expect a bit, that you will come spend time with them again, when you meet them again in the discotek the next time.

The best time to go to Patio is around midnight. The place is open all week. But usually Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays are quiet so the discotek might not be open.

Downtown there are also some place to go. But I haven't really tried them. But try to go to the Viking.

And yes all the girls in the bars will ask you for something to drink. I guess that is standard for all the world.

All the taxi drivers know Patio. With a taxi you need to agree on the price before you enter the taxi (that keeps everything very simple) A taxi from downtown to Patio should cost you max 5000. He will probably ask you 10.000 cfa, but then you should just say 4000 so that you have something to bargain about. If he won't go to the price you want, you just start walking away and he will probably honk the horn at you, meaning he agrees on your price. If you are a local the price would be around 2. 500 cfa.

Hope this clarifies some things. Otherwise just ask again. I have a lot of experience from there. And will visit again here around September or October.

By the way. You might also try to ask a taxi driver if he knows a girl. The first time I got to Dakar, the taxi driver asked med if I wanted a girl, and he came up with a very nice young girl, that I still talk with. She was ready to be my wife if I wanted it.

And another thing. Be careful about the Senegalese ladies if you want her as a girlfriend. They are VERY fixated on money in Senegal. So it might be an expensive thing to find a girl there, especially if she doesn't have a job. (They will generally not steal from you though).
