Dear fellow, thanks a lot for the useful and dectailed information I hope to use as soon as possible.
There is something anyway that sounds me not clear:why do you suggest to use our own car instead of a taxi?
I have never been in Sierra Leone but in Ghana I have experienced that taxi is cheap and plenty.
Is any particular reason to afford other outgoings to rent a car with the risk to get lost, to provoke accidents, to be targetted by road police?

I can wholeheartedly confirm what has been said here about Sierra Leone.

The place is peacefull, the beaches beautifull and the girls everywhere.

I just want to add four places that have not been mentioned in the previous reports:

Porsh Nightclub: In the east of Freetown, on the so-called highway to Bo on the left side when coming from Kissy. Very nice place, excellent lightning (UV and fluoro) and sound, and above all, packed with a moving young crowd. Mostly non-professionals that will be very happy to make new friends.

The owner is a nice rastaboy, just ask for him and he will give you a tour and a nice welcome.

Krio Wendys: Right in the centre of town, on the corner of Bathurst Street and Pademba Road, close to the famous cotton tree.

Open air bar with the sound system, the dancefloor and the tables on the sidewalk and right on the street. Nice warm-up place before heading to nightclubs. Park your car right there, get a cold beer, lean on your car and observe the scene. Mostly middle class friends and couples dancing and drinking away with some semi-professionals. You can find real gems here.

Club/bar in Lumley (does it have a name?). Driving up from Lumley roundabout to Malama take the first street left. After 20m on your left. Very local place, outside a bit rough but packed with girls. All far less professional then in the clubs in Aberdeen, meaning normally better GFE for your money.

Bendus/Sweet Mothers Guest House: On the extension of the beach road, behind Atlantik Restaurant. Cheap (12.000 Leones = 3$) per hour. But don't expect it to be spotless. Some friends have complained about being sucked out not only by the girl but countless mosquitos.

If you carry a laptop, play safe. see www.truecrypt.org, a very powerful encryption software. It's freeware. Just make sure you read the complete manual to avoid thinking you're safe while you're not.

This time I will take again both video and still. For the still I will force a flash and for the video I am taking two portable lighting source of 200W each. You will see the light in my room from your home country and if you will listen carefully you may hear the girls too

I have been in Africa more then 15 years never had any problem with porn by the officials. They never test the memory card for its content. It will take years to check every traveler.

I forgot: You have more shots of this little tripod? Looks excellent! Maybe some where we can see "it" working?

Thanks to people like us they will find out sooner or later. And they are always trying to find something. The whole issue is at the moment very much confined to SEA but the issue of sex travellers is already coming up in Kenya. Myself I have been searched many times, mostly they look either for smugglers of black market cash or diamonds/gold. Also a reason why I opted for the xactio because it saves on sd-cards, not on mini-dv. If you carry a camera plus a tripod plus lots of tapes, they get suspicious thinking that you are a journalist and want to see your accrediation. If you say you are private, they might just want to have a look at these tapes to see wether you filmed the presidents palace etc.

If it involves local gals the story might be more expensive. In plus, you are not hiding faces so they could easily construct a case if they get the link with ISG. I know it is unlikely, but Belguel probably thought the same. And more and more people are getting connected to the internet and discover ISG. Juyst hope it is not the Tanzanian Militant Muslim Anti-Porn Office (TaMMAPO)...;-)

At least switch cards/tapes when proceeding through customs so the one in the camera shows nothing but Elephants and flowers.

Anyway, hope to see some, no, lot's of action shots once you are back!

The photos indicates an amazing potential, If you wish to upgrade the mobile camera to super-compact dedicated camera I can recommend Casio brand. (300US$)

I will use my own in two weeks from now during my trip to Tanzania.

I use a Sanyo Xacti which I can really recommend. Better then any photocamera as you can shoot mpeg-movies/stills. So you don't have to bother with an autotimer . (http://www.sanyo-xacti.com/produkte/....asp?Xacti=CA6)
In additon a small tripod, about 10cm high.

Due to the bad light conditions the stills are not good quality but hey I cant be bothered to carry additional lights.

But please make sure you hide your shots well when leaving Tanzania and
when entering your country. Porn is illegal in almost all African countries and some day they will catch up as some custom officials in Asia already have.

This is how the night ended up:

4pm. Paddys nightclub. Have to make a choice now. Otherwise the beer will take over control. "nice fishnet top you wear". Ok, let's pick this one. Looks relaxed. If not to say submissive. Enough. Of we are to the guesthouse. "hey, this fishnet top is not only a top.

A special group of women to look out for are the Fullas (not sure about the spelling). They have some North African blood down the line so they look a bit different. Not that easy to catch though as their families are normally much more tradiitonal. But hey, we are at ISG, so obviously they were on my list.

Most of them are in buiseness and trade. You find these little kind of groceries all over Freetown that belong to them. Comparable to the Pakistani shop in London that never closes. If you need candles, condoms or a coke, they have it.

So there was this beauty and I needed to buy condoms. Fuck, I thought, how do you gonna talk to here if you just bought condoms? So I skipped the condoms, bought a bottled coke and ask her if she is a Fulla.

"How do you know?"

"Well, only Fulla Women are that beautiful".

Big smile.

I was about to go when she said that I need to bring back the empty bottle otherwise she would have to charge me extra.

"I come back for you, maybe with the bottle".

Even bigger smile.

Of course I went back, I think a day later. (Obviously I completely forgot about the bottle, but I think she didn't care much...)

Got her number and made a date later for the evening. (Always exchange numbers even if the date is fixed as people here do not synchronise with GMT)

Since then, she has been a regular after work fuck.
