ATMs are few and unreliable. I used the one next to the main gate of Family Kingdom / Papaya restaurant and the Ecobank ATM at the NP fuel station close to the Congo Cross roundabout. But the amount of money that you can withdraw is very limited. My advice would be to carry USD or EUR with you and exchange to local currency when you need it. Credit cards widely accepted? In some hotels (e. G. Family Kingdom) you can exchange currencies at the reception. You don't necessarily get the best rates, but at least you avoid being conned. I hope you have better luck than me in Freetown.

At River #2, you can rent little cottages for 250 k SLL and enjoy the beach. For pros and semi-pros, hang out on the beach Saturday night and ask the staff where to look. There's a corner where they generally hang out.

Trying to find this place, Roland's beach or beach #1, on google maps but no success.

Beach #1: On the road from Makeni to Lunsar (on the way to Freetown) look out for a sign 30 minutes out. Turn left and follow the road to the "beach". The name of the village is Lungi Acre.

Roland's Beach: On the Magburaka highway, turn right about 15 minutes out of town. Seriously, just ask anyone and they will direct you.

Both beaches are seasonal and underwater in the rainy season.
