I went to Burkina Faso these days and was quite satisfied. Thanks to the help of XXL the first girl met me just at the airport. It turned out, she was really fantastic (I will do an extra report later).

That we are the "personalization of a bank" is a matter of fact, but that they "feel flattered by the appearance" of old ugly mongers like us I would rather doubt! However, it is obvious that they never fail to cheat us with the same old stories ("my grandma is ill.....")! Conclusion: Always keep that in mind, don't be naive, play and pay - that's ok! And particularly: Never trust a naked bus driver! IMHO, of course!

Labadi, not only african countries. I've experienced similar also in SE Asia. I think you are right about conflicting feelings. Maybe many of the ladies are being used to be regularly abused by men, so when a guy treats them nicely, is honest and show them respect they are overwhelmed. I am regularly nice, but I am careful not to invest more than I get.

A 60 year old collegue of mine was working in an east african country, married a 19 yo "princess", got a new job in a west african country, where his wife very soon got friendly with a local tennis coach. One morning his wife "found" him dead in the bed with several stab wounds. Local police put it as suicide, in spite of most of the blood was found on the floor and no knife was found.

I take that as a lesson: Enjoy the time. Be nice but not stupid. Honest but not stupid. Respectful but not stupid.

I know about those feeling and I will go back to Africa. Next time to Burkina Faso. But I will never again send money for "my grandma...", "I am so ill....". My short expierence is: Come back to the same girl and she will be nice to you as she was before. They don't expect too much (they mostly have a lot of life-experience which is no bed of roses). I treat them with respect, thats important for myself and I guess, they feel it.
