Cheap in every way with beer at 20 LE and girls top whack 600 LE – a lot less if you a good negotiator. Looked in there for a browse the other evening. F/M ratio of 20:1. Some absolute gems, new to me and well worth further investigation.

They went down from 800 to 600 LE? Nice. I might drop by this weekend for some Chinese dishes.

I don’t share the current depression sweeping over the Cairo mongering front although I agree there are major shortcomings and as time goes on things haven’t improved.

On the street scene. Maadi kerb crawling in crazy traffic in the hope of spotting something attractive who will jump in your car isn't my idea of fun. Must admit I’ve never tried it but know the areas well and from what I’ve seen the odds are against a good find and don’t think it worth the effort.

As for the “massage parlours”, call me awkward but I can’t see the attraction of going through all the hit and miss palaver of finding some scruffy flat just to get a cheap HJ from some overweight Egyptian female. Apologies to those who like this sort of scene. To each their own.

My personal preference, and not without its faults is the Far East/Zen Zen/Maharaja bar in New Maadi. Plush it ain’t but neither is it tacky. Just a plain down to earth trading post with plenty of girls of from Africa and China. Some Crufts candidates but some gems. ‘twas ever thus. Friendly staff, who look after their expat customers well. Cheap in every way with beer at 20 LE and girls top whack 600 LE – a lot less if you a good negotiator. Most customers expats but a number of locals as well.

All action is off premises and I’ve never had a girl from there who didn’t have a place of some sort of her own. The unwritten rule is that the girls can’t go overtly touting for customers so be prepared to make the first move. Pool table but no dark cosy corners for auditioning unless the cigarette smoke gets particularly dense.

Might seem I’m damning with faint praise but Far East provides a welcome and hassle free oasis in the mongering desert.

Omar: You are right; most MPs in the Mohamdessin/Giza side of town seem closed, except for Tehran (I tried them last week and seem to be buisness as usual).

But if you are looking into Nasr City, I think the MP business is flourishing in that area. Check out the large number of ads in Al-Waseet and look at the phone numbers provided.. they all seem to be located in Nasr City.

I tried calling the Chinese Center in Dokki but no answer. Give it a try: 3762-3425; 017-1514797. Please report back if they are open.

That's too bad - looks like I'll be in Cairo for a week in early November. I will need to stay somewhere an easy cab-ride to the Marriot. Does anyone have suggestions for a reasonable apartment I could book for a week, or a nearby GF hotel that will allow girls in for a bit of baksheesh?

How long would it take to get from the new Maadi area to the Marriot?

Advice much appreciated.

Communting here is a ***** and to be avoid. Best to stay around the area you are working/playing in. Marriott is in Zamalek, near downtown, Dokki, and Mohandiseen - where there are a variety of hotels.

From Geylang to Cairo? You must be having a laugh.

Anyhow, the Marriot is next to all major hotels so there should be no problem getting there. Bringing a girl to your hotel should pose no problem if you take the necessary steps - do not walk in together and, if you ever get confronted, tip the guards 20 LE.

Getting to New Maadi from the Marriot will take about 40 minutes depending on traffic. You probably will not need an apartment or hotel because the girls have their own place also in Maadi (Chinese or African). If you want an Egyptian sharmuta you will need your own place of course.

Actually, I think there are a few really hot looking Egyptian WGs out there, the problem is, you have to be a Gulfi for them to even look at you. I've seen some really hot ones lately at the Marriott and at Location the other night.
