My information is doubtless well out of date, since I haven't been back to Asmara, where I often worked, in some years. When I did work thereand it was a police state even thengirls were readily available and there were no issues at all in taking them back to one's hotel.

600 to 1400 really? Thats like 40 to 100 usd. Am I missing something? Its just really hard to imagine those prices in a poor country like Eritrea. Those are really expensive prices. One other guy posted that he had a girl there for 10 dollars a day. Ethiopian prices use to be 10 to 15 usd a pop. I just would like to get further clarification, as I am interested in visiting sometime in the near future. Also, a detailed report would be nice too.

I understand what you mean. The prices are as mentioned but at the time I was there there was a black market for exchanging money. It gave 3-4 time the amount of nakfa for usd compared ti the banks. Now days the black market is basically gone. The government cracked down hard on it a while back. However hotel and food prices are the same, don't know about the girls though. What you can do is pay them in hard currency 10-20 usd out to do it, but I don't know fore sure.

Well there aren't too many places in Asmara. It's easy picking up girls day time if you are not shy. The easiest places are Aiba and Warsay. Aiba is the place I mentioned. Just a 100 m or so towards airport from Asmara palace. It's a sort of brothel so you can find girls who live and work there. Most of the girls in the bar and nightclub are freelancers though. Warsay is about 20-30 min walk away or a short cab ride. Its a nightclub with freelancers and semi-pros. There are more places for action and hunting but the government keeps shutting them down. However they don't mess with the two mentioned. Prices vary. Everything from 600-1400 naf. Best is to get a taxi at Aiba and ask the driver to show you around, they are up to date about the places that are open. You can also try expo area, many nightclubs there but open only to midnight on week days since they are being shut by the government. Service wise Eritrea is much better than starfish Ethiopia. However ID is a must when bringing a girl and don't forget that prostitution is illegal, all though comon.

Avoid al la scala hotel the owner is not girl friendly. Most hotels are GF just make sure she's got ID.

P. S last time I was there was almost a year and half ago. Prices might have changed.

Don't know about visa. I got a national ID.
