Drinks are expensive there and so are the girls. I have been to both. Bole, forget it. The Sheraton, no way in hell, the Hilton also no way. These places are way out of my price range. I know that there are some semi decent places that are hidden from the ferengi, but only known to locals, I just require a quite place to stay (no loud music after 10pm) and running water in the room. Any info on this would be appreciated.

Now for my 2 cents: Habasha generally find oral sex disgusting. Most, but not all *****s will not do it, but do receiving. WTF? Habasha are not so active when having sex, I think it's because of the extremely conservative country. This is because all the formal education has in the past, been done by the church there. They will beg from people that are not black, unless you are black and wear a nice suite, or if they hear you speak English. Overall Ethiopia is generally a safe country though.

So, yea I need help to find a cheap place to stay in Addis at the before mentioned place, and if anyone is interested to hook up with me in Addis then email me and I will return the email.

Bordels in Ethiopia

There is a road with bordels close to the City centre of Addis Abeba. Its a road with old flat buildings and you see about 50 small rooms with small doors along the road. At night some of them are illuminated with red light and some of the girls are sexy dressed. I never spoke to them, just was slowly cruising up and down by car. I guess I pop is 50 birr (3€) or less? I was remembered on a similar place Falkland Road in Bombay/Mumbay.

To find the road you start at Mesquel Square, look for Total Petrol Station you take this road (Ras Biru Str.) towards south (Cherkos) for about 400m, take next smaller road right, again about 400m, take road right. Its actually an area behind the old railway station.

Who knows similar roads with bordels like this? (in addis or other towns)

John, Many thanks for the update on the Massage spas in Addis - I had a similar experience at the Chinese place you mention. I also checked out the Thai Spa which is above the Thai restaurant just off of Bole Road near friendship and got an expensive (250 birr) great massage but no extras.

Have you checked out any others of the spas near the Swiss Cafe - there are quite a few?

The word "Arab" is always used with a negative tone. "Hindye" is a name give to Indians also used with some contempt as Ethios believe Indians are greedy. "Tiftif" or "Tiftifcoh" is a name given to Asians, means flat face and has a negative undertone.

In conclusion Ethiopians will respect foreigners, only at a distance,and if they see you outside of the control of their culture. Some whites think of this respect as same as they see in the Middle east, India and other parts of Africa. This respect is same as you find in say Japan. Your respected but held at arms length in suspicion. I don't how else I can describe it.

Ethiopians do not have a varying degree of treating foreigners. They see and treat all foreigners the same way.

Those who immigrated to the US however did not escape the general stigma casted against black people. Some took solidarity with African Americans, others refused to accept they are black.

Thanks very much for this informative post. You seem to have taken the time to understand a bit of the culture. Many it seems, do not understand that when you visit a country, you are a guest and as such should show proper respect, even if you are there to "bang" their women.
