Many thanks for the suggestions and I would if I could explore those possibilities but alas my situation prevents that kind of roaming. So I am left to the massage with structured visits during the day.

You're right, Global Hotel massage is nothing special. Very few 'massage' parlours in Addis because sex is so readily available. Concorde Disco, Memos, Milk Bar, Hilton. Just go for it.

I ventured to the Global Hotel based on recommendations on the board and found the extras OK, the massage OK and the ambiance lousy. Overall, I would say that it is good place for a quick massage and some extras. If you are looking for a little bit more ambiance, better massage, and extras, I am not sure where one goes in Addis. Anyone out there have some ideas?

a quick trip thru' Addis

A 24 hour stopover on what was a holiday - Id el Fitr.

So a good massage with HJ at the Global Hotel and unluckily nothing in the evening as time was short and the town was dead!

By the way - there's a new (I think) ice-cream place close to the Concorde hotel - which had many lovely ladies in the afternoon - a place for checking out in the future.

Planning on making my first trip to ethiopia and was wondering how is the monger scene for an african american man? Any feedback would be helpful.

Others have responded, but I thought I would add that the scene is wonderful for African-Americans and just about anyone else. Pros and normal girls are quite approachable. You need to be respectfull of the girls and their society, and they will expect you (rather than they) to be somewhat assertive in making your intentions clear.

I (an African-American) have had one long-term girlfreind who was a student in Addis, and I've also turned to the pros now and then. I prefer to find girls at the places Ethiopians frequent rather than Memo and other Western oriented clubs. The atmosphere with Habesha music and Habesha dancing is great.

This is my first time posting on the board and am new to Addis. Can anyone make any suggestions for an excellent massage and extras. I have noted the information on the Global Hotel in the thread. Does the Global Hotel offer 4 hand massage? Are there others that are highly recommended - clean, with attractive massuese? Has anyone checked out the Boston Day Spa?

I can confirm that in West Africa girls are very eager. I visit Gambia and had more girls then my capacity. Ethiopian girls are a conservative and thus who are not, you need to know where to find them. Also accommodation cost triple then in West Africa and no beach or natural attractions. Uganda is is the same with full of beautiful girls but theirs nose is in the sky.

Yes the pros are available, but in West Africa and Kenya you get all of the girls at any place and any time for free. JUST PLAY SMART

Stick to Kenya or go to Ghana. Both have plenty of beautifull girls. In Ghana you can pick them from the streets (markets, shops, busstops, Legon University, etc.) during the day or take them from the streetside cafe's or disco's at night.

Afribone - your report mentions West Africa. I'm chosing between Ethiopia, Nigeria, Ghana or Kenya for a 7 day trip in mid-November. I've had good experiences in Kenya, consequently I'm tempted to return there, but I'd like to experience other north and west African locations.

I'm after plentiful mongering (day and night) at reasonable prices, cold beer and decent hotels. I'd appreciate your opinion on which country would meet my needs. Thanks.

Desalegn Hotel is opposite the European Union Building. The road is refered to as "EU Road" since very few streets in Addis have street names.

I got the impression the girls were available but would not come to your room if you were staying at the Desalegn. Some other arrangement has to be made.

This sounds like a great recommendation. However, I would be interested in African protocol (I am still an African virgin): in most other parts of the world, picking up a waitress is possible but she never comes back to your room in the same hotel in which she works. Are the waitresses in the Desalegn approachable for sex and if so, should one be staying at a different hotel? Is it the norm in Africa not to worry about this issue?

In the past I have had 2 encounters with staff at hotels and both in the hotel where they worked - once at the National where I caught th eye of a pretty waitress and a male friend of hers arranged for her to come up to my room. The other was years ago at the Crown, this time with one of the floor staff who came into my room when I was packing to see if I needed 'any help'. In the first instance money changed hands, in the second it did not.
