Posts: 500I was in Addis for 3 days last week. This was my 4th trip and there were a couple of new twists this time. This was the first time I prepared in advance by contacting some girls before departure. And this was the first trip that I didn't take anyone home from Concord. Also, it's my sad duty to report that prices seem to be going up.
Flight: From Dubai on Ethiopian for 1700 dirhams, taxes included. Until last year this flight arrived in Addis at about midnight, soon enough to go straight to the hunt. Now it gets in at 7:30 in the morning, so I lost that first night of mongering in exchange for saving on the night's accomodation. Emirates is now flying to Addis, but it only goes 3 or 4 days a week.
Visa on arrival is now $20, much cheaper than before. Also, they give you the entry stamp at the same time so you don't also have to wait in the immigration line.
Hotel: Hilton this time. It only cost $120 this time, compared to over 150 last year. Yes, I know it seems exorbitant in a place like Addis. But I'm willing to pay this rate because the Hilton offers lots of conveniences for me. It has a good pool and gym. There are money exchange places with reasonable rates, a place to get cellphone SIM cards and airline offices there. The Milk House, a good place to start the evening or even find your company for the night, is in easy walking distance. Also, working girls can be found in the lobby bar and the poolside open air restaurant, though while I was there I didn't see any great quality. Having all of these things handy saves me time. So especially for a short visit I'm willing to part with some cash since time is of the essence more than money. 2 new hotels, Ibis and Novotel, are being built near Meskal Square. But judging by the construction I saw, the stated opening date of late 2006 is way too optimistic.
Phone: I 'rented' a SIM card for my Nokia phone for 50 birr per day at one of the souvenir counters across from the little traditional coffee stand in the lobby. Just go to one of these places and start asking. Buying a SIM card outright costs 440 birr, worth it if you're staying longer. I got a load card for 100 birr, way more than enough for my 3 days.
Bars and girl stuff: I noticed that Heart of Asia has some pretty good looking Ethiopian girls so I got a few email addresses. In the end I only wrote to 2 and one of them replied, which was enough for the time I was there. She ended up being a real winner, cute as you like with a tight, petite body and tight in other good places too...Even though she came right to the hotel without hesitation, it did take some work. But after a little wining and dining she was an enthusiastic debauchery participant. Having a regular kind of girl sort of curtailed my exploring of the bars, but I was able to get away for one night.
MILK HOUSE is as good as ever. It's an expat watering hole that attracts a fair number of working girls. The night I went here about a fourth of the tables had girls making eye contact at me. I took a girl from here after meeting her early in the evening, going out to check other bars, then coming back here to find her. I had actually seen the same girl at New York Cafe on Bole Road the same afternoon. But at the time I had to run off to meet my regular girl. So it seems the Bole Road scene is as good as ever.
CLUB MEMO and CONCORD didn't have hardly anything I wanted to touch or look at. Guys at the Milk House told me that in the pre-Easter Lenten season there aren't as many girls out, something I forgot to consider before the trip.
You guys coming here after Easter may find better quality here.
LA GAZELLE is a live band place on Bole Road most of the way to the airport. I took my girl here but I also noticed some unattached women around. It's local music and a local scene. The girls coming here won't expect to meet foreigners but it could still be a good hunting ground.
The girl from the Milk House cost 300 birr short time, after first wanting 500. She wouldn't budge below 300. From reports here and talking to expats this seems to be the norm, at least at foreigner-oriented establishments. Last year's 200 birr for the same kinds of girls from the same places seems to be a thing of the past. She was worth it though, gorgeous and great in bed.
I wish I had more time for Addis and other parts of Ethiopia. Too bad it has to compete with Asia and South America for my attention.

I'll be in town starting Thursday morning for a few days. Any mongers in town let me know and we can have a few drinks and compare notes.
Surprised to hear about 60 to 100 bucks for a woman at Concord. When I was last here at this time last year I was still paying 200 birr (about $23). A couple of years ago there was one girl that asked for $300. After I stopped laughing about half an hour later she got the customary 200 birr.
Anybody been to Nazareth? I'm finding some good contacts from there. It almost looks like daytrip distance from Addis.

Bootyman,
Try the Hawi Hotel Debre Zyat Road just 100 Birr per night, it's nice and the staff are very friendly and helpful. You get decent rooms with double bed hot shower. There is also a very good Greek restuarant a few metres away where you can get excellent western or Ethiopian food for around 20 Birr. I know the Concord and I don't bother going there for women, they want too much money sometimes $60 to $100 a bang!. I just hire a taxi for an hour and cruise around town I always end up picking up one or two real beauties for half an hour of fun and games.

Posts: 8Addis is a nice place for mongering if you're not too demanding and willing to change to the local way of doing things. I have been to addis many times and most of the time I was pleased.
Hotels I have stayed in range from the sheraton (only once) to Plaza Hotel which I realy liked until they hike up the price to 250 birr. Classic Hotel I find to be the best hotel for the money 155 birr. Private villas are ok too. If you're staying in hotel and don't want to bring your guest there, many smaller pension are ok for a quickie.
Everybody knows about concorde and memo, if you're adventureous you will be surprised by the the quality you can find in Piasa (eg. Blue nile bar) or Nazeret Pension which is a very good spot. also the many smaller places all over addis in Hayawlat area and.
I met this shorty down in Nazeret Pension and kept seeing her regulary It is true after the first time they become very open and will do any thing you want, and will have a good time for sure.
Flo woha (hot bath), near hilton, is something I tried and I love it. I go there after midnight like 2 or 3 in the morning when nobody is there and you don't have to wait. take somebody you know and have fun bathing in the very hot water and fucking underwater and on the bench in the room. it only cost 12 birr per person for 45 minutes.
Does anybody know of a hotel in th 150 birr range that is realy good for the price?

Posts: 37Getting laid in Ethiopia? Was there for three years. Memos and Concorde are guaranteed. Advantage of concorde is that even if you are not staying there, you can get a room on the night at any time.
Early hours, head to Hilton lobby bar. Not much ever happening at the sheraton. Then the Milk Bar, if it is still working. Lots of fun and plenty of good looking girls.
For more adventure, check out the small 'whiskey bars' all around town. Always distinguished by christmas lights in the window and curtains on the window. Check out a few. When you find one you like, and particularly a girl you like, stick with it. I went to the same place for about six months to get fucked and sucked by the owner's sister. If she feels comfortable with you she will be a lot more free. Take her out for a meal or a drink.
After much whoring, the lesson I learned is that if you bring her home, she really appreciates it. If you are in a hotel, take her to your hotel room, and more than once and it will pay off. Ethio girls suck, but never on a first date.

She is stunning you lucky so and so! I went to Concord Hotels Disco but the girls were asking for up to $100 a bang. So I stuck to cruising in the Taxi and picking up the odd gem on the street plenty of them about.

Posts: 143Chief this IS Africa! AIDS (and a plethora of other less nasty but very horrible stuff) is everywhere... shouldn't have to tell people to be careful. Me? I wouldn't go bareback if you held a gun to my head. Ok, maybe a 9mm would make me but you know what I mean!
My experience is all WG's in all third-world countries have local boyfriends who they go and fuck without a condom right after they've done you and taken your money. Shit I used to be one of those boyfriends (unknowingly, of course) so I know.
Scary stuff.
Play safe!
