Just back fro a short trip. Spent one night at the Concorde before heading up country and was due to return there later but the place was so full of cockroaches that I decided to go elsewhere and ended up at the Hilton. Also the price for a decent room in the Concorde is quite hight now - for what you get anyway. OK so the Hilton is expensive but at least its quiet. There are girls there but you have to be careful as the bar is also a popular spot for after work drinks and you could end up hitting on the wrong person. Also 'working' girls are not there every night. Actually early evening seems most popular as well as afternoons at weekends, and I guess they move on after having scored. Most of the girls that 'work' there seem to go in pairs and once you have hooked up with them, getting back to the room is not a problem. I brought one girl back from a club late one night and she did not have any ID so i had to slip the security guard 50 birr to let her in. Generally any girls you meet there will charge a lot as they know you must have money to stay there in the first place. Not sure however if I will use the Hilton again. I think the Concorde has had its day so the search is on for a suitable alternative - clean, reasonably quiet (a man has to sleep), guest friendly and not too expensive. Oh and not miles out of town. Any ideas?

As is widely reported on this board, bj's can be hard to find in Ethiopia, especially with a one off meeting. You stand better luck if you see the same girl more than once I think.

I have been in Ethiopia several times, mostly with good experiences. But I stayed away from the places with a lot of white men ("faranj"), since the girls there will offer you a service for a exorbitant price which normaly correlates negative with their behaviour in bed. If you tell them, you are in the Hilton or Sheraton, the price will even be higher (but not the quality !).

I found nice girls at any places of the huge country: Some just in the streets waiting for a taxi, others in a cafe - whereever. Just be open, friendly and charming. Some of these girls never gave a blow-job, but any of them was so kind to do it for me. May be I am good teacher , but the first BJ is a special event by itself.

I never got a anal action. Most people are religious and will tell you, "our culture" doesn't allow them to do this. In fact they are affraid and I share their feelings by noting their body in relation to mine.

Interesting experience. For me picking up the prettiest girls is the easiest because they are more likely to be materialistic. A little bit of old-school flattery and cheesy pickup lines that wouldn't work very well in Western countries seems to do the trick here.

It all boils down to attitude and approach. Generally I find that the really good looking women will wait to be approached as opposed to directly approach someone or flirt. This makes them appear arrogant but in reality that is not always the case (e.g they do make eye contact especially if they fancy you). It's just that the fact that they're hot gives them choice and they're not always desparate.

You are right it's difficult to find girlfriend type of girls here. Even on Monday night there were alot of people. There is for sure easy to find a girl, but unfortunatelly not very pretty girls. The pretty ones are mostly very arrogant and do not even flirt.

Hmm I seem to see a lot of reports like this coming from folks used to the Asian and S. American scene. Obviously something happens there (I've not had the opportunity to find out for myself yet) which sometimes makes them find mongering in Africa difficult.

I've never had problems in Addis and the GFE's I've had there can only be topped by the ones in South Africa. Generally I think Ethiopian girls are extremely beautiful and I know I'm not alone in believing this. I also find their attitude a lot nicer than most of the other nationalities I know.

I guess it boils down to your approach to mongering. If you turn on the charm and try to be nice these girls reciprocate in the best way possible. If you behave badly then you shouldn't expect much.

Remember, Ethiopians are a proud race with a rich cultural heritage and don't take lightly to be "talked down" to.

I guess you was just lucky or had a better sens what girl you should choose. I had two Ethiopian girls in Dubai. They looked great that is true but sex was boring. Not even kissing allowed.
In Addis I made the same experience with the first girl I had from Concord Disco (Dome)
The second girl I had also from the Dome was even more worse.
The third girl was also bad (from Memos).
Than I changed my flight back home. In the night I just went to Concord to spent some time there. But, I definetely don't want a girl again. Some girls came and approach me to talk with them. I agree with Makhu, i have been frequenting addis and have never had a problem with a girl. Ethiopian women are very pretty and can be found everywhere. Recently i went to a new branch of Milk house on bole road and picked up a very pretty 20 year old, great GFE and fantastic in Bed. Had her twice for 200 birr (including her taxi fare back).

Regarding GFE type girls, a bit of charm will do the trick. I have been quite lucky with none bar girls. On my last visit in June I walked into a leather shop in Dumbell Shopping Centre and started chatting up one of the sales girls, she spoke good English so conversation was easy, anyway I asked her out for dinner and she agreed. Nothing happened that nite but took her out a few days after for a drink and ended up shagging her a few hours later at no cost. She became a good GFE, excellent in Bed with all the right noises, spent a lovely week with her. Was in Addis last week but could not find her, she didn’t have a mobile, had given me a neighbours land line number but no trace. Perhaps she returned back to Nazareth where she came from.

there is definitly no need for malaria protection in Lalibela, Mahku is right. In Gondar you should have it (not a difficult thing with DOXY - cheap and good if you don't plan to get grilled on a beach)

I've been reading all this 'the girls don't perform' stuff but I guess I was just lucky. I almost never had trouble finding girls that were great in bed, great looking and great GFE.

I found girls at:

The Concord disco, like everyone else
Milkhouse
Coffee places on Bole Road (like New York New York)
and hooked up after hours with a hotel receptionist.

Also note that in 2 tries at the Sheraton disco I couldn't find anything worth taking home.

I never paid more than 200 birr.

Places I stayed and brought girls back to:

Hilton. It's expensive of course, but it can also be a hunting ground itself.
Ibex. It's a bit out of the way but medium priced and nice enough.
Concord. Convenient but noisy in the rooms and lots of roaches.
Ghion. Has a $15 joiner fee. Rooms are just ok, nice grounds.
Imperial. Out of the way, sort of near the airport.

By the way I went to Lalibela and never heard about needing malaria protection. It's at 2500 meters altitude so probably not a whole lot of mosquitos anyway.

I just spend 1 week in Addis. I had planned to stay 2,5 weeks but after 5 days and 3 girls I decided to leave Addis. The girls performace was bad and the city boring. Well the last two days were good and the girl number 4 was really good. But, didn't change my flight schedule, because the city as really not much to offer, from sightseeing point of view and to Lalibela and Gondor I don't want to go, because I had no Malaria protection.
Well, what can you do in Addis.
Good place to eat:

The old Milkhouse (dinner)
New York New York (Lunch and breakfast)

Good place for pros:

Memos
Concord Hotel
both start late. After 23:30.

Good place for sightseeing:
Mt. Entodo
National Moseum
and some Churches in the city.
Nothing real exciting, you can do that in one day.

Internet is very slow and expensive in Addis.

Hotel, I was in Concord, was nice and not too expensive, just some Mosquitos or flees or what ever had bite me there.
