The reason why there are so few details here on the Cameroon board is because they are not needed - women are EVERYWHERE and virtually all of them are available.

You don't need to know which discos are hot, or what is the best time to be at the disco, or any other details like those. You should be able to pick up a girl in any bar, disco, restaurant, cafe, supermarket, shop, etc. You don't have to be forward or say or do anything in particular - just show even the slightest interest in the girl (a smile, nod of your head) and the girl/girls will probably be all over you. I've even been able to hook up with girls in the middle of the day just walking down the street.

If in doubt, take 5 minutes and read all of the back posts written about Cameroon, by me and others, and you'll see that everything I wrote today has been written before - nothing new.

I'd be happy to write more details about my experiences in detail, but that would take at least a week and I'd probably get fired. But no need to read about the experiences of others - go out and make your own experiences! And always use a condom.

OK, I hear what Frank Africa says, and iits hard to believe. However, I have corresponded with two young Cameroonian women. Both of these were found through pen pal sites (found using Google), and both of these girls were propositiioned for sex without them having ever seen me.

Much to my surprise, what was done on whimsy resulted in promises from both girls to have sex with me.

Even Brazil is not this easy (and Brazil is VERY VERY easy to find free sex).

I am quite interested to see how Cameroon meets my expectations. Maybe Frank Africa is correct. If so, no wonder XXL points out that there are not really hard core girls like Brazil, Cuba and other places I have mongered. If anyone has specific locations for truly hot hot hot ladies, let me know. Otherwise, no more questions from me.

I will know Cameroon in a short 6 months. July-August, however, means three weeks in Brazil,and I intend to have sex with at least 40 different women.

This conversation about the mores of the Cameroonian woman are fantastic, and truly make me want to expereience th place. But, there is still a paucity of practical information like the best discos, the best time to hit the discos, etc. In addition, how forward does a Westerner have to be to pick up a girl? Do we just sit araound and wait or do we need to show our interest in a direct manner?

Africa is literally an entirely new world for me, and )although I am going to learn this first hand no matter what is written) I would love to hear more about people's experineces in Cameroon.

Both XXL and GoodEnough are right, and GoodEnough is correct in pointing out that the difference seems to be semantics. I think what it is is that there is no social stigma for an African girl to have sex regularly with different men (except in the smallest villages), but there is some stigma to being seen as a pure hard-core prostitute (i.e. several partners in the same evening) - which may be why there are very few hard-core hookers in Africa (although there are some). Even in the livelier "pro" scenes in big cities such as Dakar and Nairobi, most 'working' girls will have sex with one 'customer' all night, not 8 to 10.

And there definitely is a difference between Cameroon and the West generally about sex - in Cameroon and most of Africa, their view on sex is open and healthy - having sex is no big deal, a normal part of life, nothing to make a big fuss over.

I remember back to my Peace Corps training days, where we were told that the attitude in Cameroon is that no one should sleep alone, so if we were to get stuck out in the bush in a small village for the night, we'd be put up in the house of one of the village big men, and then one of the teenage daughters would be sent in to sleep with us for the night, and that it would be rude to turn down such hospitality!

By the way, I know of at least one "brothel"-type place in Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire, but it is all Moroccan girls and well-hidden, so it is tolerated. There are several Western-style massage parlors in Kenya (and a few in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania) where one can receive sex along with their massage. There's also a brothel-type setup every Saturday evening in a hotel bar in Dar es Salaam that features only girls of Indian ancestry, for Indian men.

To support one of XXL's points, the only available girls in Zanzibar are not Zanzibari but are from mainland Tanzania, Kenya or Uganda, while there are several Zanzibari girls quietly working the streets in Dar es Salaam. Most working girls that I ran across in Ouagadougou were from Ghana, most girls in Lome were from Ghana, Liberia or Sierra Leone, etc.

I do not want to get into a protracted debate over semantics. However, I was not talking about prostitution per se, but sex. My experience is that African women revel in their enjoyment of sex, are not embarrassed or hung up about it, and find it a normal, and expected outcome to a good evening. African men, at least those that I know well, seem to share similar attitudes, and many consider it extremely macho to have children with several women.

My point was not about the commercial sex industry, which is not well organized, and in fact, is barely organized at all. Rather, I find the "typical" African perspective about sex more open and altogether healthier than typically found in Europe or the US. This conclusion is based solely on my experiences and those of my friends, so it's strictly experiential.
