Well, there is really not a lot of activity in this forum. Thought I'd add a bit here:

Hotels:

Have not tested them and only stayed at the Meridien which is a totally overpriced and lousy hotel built in the 60's or 70's and has never seen any update since then. The bad news is. There is not much competition for them in Libreville. Have not seen any hotels of international standard that are newer around here. The good thing: The Meridien is GF so no much hassle to bring somebody, except she'll have to leave her I'd with the security guard over night.

Clubs.

Most of night life is concentrated in the "Louis" area. Plenty of nightlife venues there.

La Licorne: Awesome place with the cutest girls ever. Highly recommend. Some expats, not very crowded. The pizza place next to it is quite good.

Cotton Club: More upscale venue that asks for 5. 000 CFA entry. Great selection of women inside. Seems to be the hangout of the expat community. Bursting with activity on Fridays / Saturdays.

Tropicana: Right opposite the airport, on the beach. Nice atmosphere, decent food, next to it there is a venue with plenty of girls and music bursting. Beware of burglars though.

Generally food and drinks are on the expensive side compared to other African countries. But the women are just great. I have had only one I met the first night I stayed here. Decided to stick to her since she was fantastic. Never asked for money. I gave her CFA 10, 000 anyway as taxi money in the mornings.

Transport: Taxis are crusing back and forth on the main street. Within city limits you pay between 1000-2000 CFA.

All-in-all, there is not much to do in Libreville and if the girls weren't so hot I'd give it a pass. But they are. So enjoy.

Well folks, I can now answer my own question (post below). The answer is. Absolutely nothing.

What was once perhaps the gym + sauna at the Laico Okoume is closed and under development by some architectural outfit from Beijing. The website description can best be described as "aspirational".

Wasnt able to venture further afield. Maybe next time!

Hi folks,

Will be first time in Libreville in a couple of weeks. Been offered accommodation at the Laico Okoume. I note among its facilities the attractions of sauna and massage. Now if I was back in Asia I would know exactly what to expect. But what can I expect here (if anything)?

Hope to get a chance to "explore" elsewhere, but its always nice to get on-site service for those times when you can't be arsed to venture further afield.

Also, what is current price guide, and preferred currency, for taking a girl back to your room for an hour or so?

This beach resort. Well collection of shacks is quite good fun.

I was there last week with my crew, 2 guys and two girls, but we are not "together".

I did not fancy to party, but my friends experience was interesting.

We stayed in le Maridien, and confirm it is expensive WOW.

We went to Baracuda, for a meel, as originally we were bucked in, and refused to stay, and went to Le M. But went back to Baracuda, for a drink, and a meal. The main waitress was very nice, and looked like my current girl in Dubai. I told my friend that she was very nice, and if I was looking I would take her.

Our local contacts set up a club visit for 10h30 that night, and she with a friend came along. I assume the idea was one each. Fine bu my, but I was too tired, so cried off.

To cut the long short short my friend took her back to hotel, Le M, and she stayed 2 hours. He paid her 150US. I told him he was mad. But not my money.

In the Lobby there are several WG, sitting, and hoping, but none that took my fancy. However one did approach, spoke good english, and if I was in the mood, would have taken away. Not certain if she would have been happy, with my negotionatial skills (! ), ie 100 US per full night.

Saw one stunner walk out at lunch time, sith a smile on her face, and almost told her to do a 180 nad cum back with me.

The place is very friendly, and very safe.

The best place to stay in Port Gentil is Le Meridien and it is 2 1/2 stars at best. The only saving grace is that the food there is very good and it is very close to another very good restaurant. Port Gentil is very expensive for everything except the companionship. The best place for high quality companioship is Le Gallion, a nice club with pool tables in one section, a small disco in another section and a nice bar in another section. Port Gentil is safe, very expensive by anyone's standards has a nice quantity of beautiful companions (professional or semi-professional), but it only worth visiting if you are on an expense account. You will have to wait until the price of oil drops by $20-$30 per barrel for the prices to drop, but the all of the things that make Port Gentil a good place (safety, food, quality of women) may go away as well if this happens.

If I remember correctly I gave my cuties in the morning just some 'taxi money' and all of them were quite satisfied with that. Port Gentil is quite a fun place if in a typical dirty haphazard sort of African way. When you go out for the night there is certainly no shortage of types of places to visit, classy, seedy, lively, basic, its all here.

Immediately outside the port gate is a bar called Dockers. It is basic, but the beer is cool and adequate. If you only want one or two beers before going home then this place is fine. It is also a fine place to have your first beer of the night, somewhere you can line your stomach and get you in the mood. Here you will meet the local pimp called Eddie. He will exchange money (although not at a rate that will make you smile), advise you about where to go in town or on the beach, and then he will take you there, often returning to collect you later. The best thing about Eddie is that he is reliable and honest. When you are only talking about a few quid, who cares if the rates are not the best?

Eddie has now taken me to have a Chinese massage four times and I can't complain. Last night I got up early and headed out by myself. I had a beer at the Dockers with some other guys who happened to be there, then got dropped off. I had taken the opportunity of taking half of a recently bought Viagra pill, so when I got my clothes off in preparation for the massage I was standing proud. This time the second of the two Chinese girls worked on me, and I must say, it was almost identical to the massage given to me by the first, which is to say, pretty good.

At the end, the girl left and I re clothed myself, pushing my erection into my underpants.
