Hi Max,

Since I am from your country, I can provide you some first hand information about what is expecting you.

You will not have much trouble to bring her for a month long visit (been there, done that). The officials will want you to bring them 3 last salary slips, sign an affidavit of support, a personal guarantee that she will leave the country on time and (not necessarily) they may require a bank guarantee to cover government expences if they will have to deport her on visa violation.

5 years ago I met a guy with a thai wife that was requested to provide all the above (+ 35000 of you know what in form of a bank guarantee).

If you will get serious with her, take all necessary steps to relocate to her country on a western salary and live with her for 3-4 years before consdering to bring her back as your wife. The naturalization process will take at least 5 years.

She will have tremendous problems in your home country.

The problems with the authorities:

At first she will be on a B/1 visa for 6 months. This means that she will not have the state medical insurance, you will have to buy her one in some insurance company that insures foreign workers.

She will get one authomatically when she will get the A/5 temporary residence permit.

Both of you will have many "toothbrush" interviews with the officials in order to extend it every year.

She WILL have a lot of language problems and considerable employment problems. You WILL discover that racism IS an issue.

Can`t say i have heard of the Giriama beach hotel, but you are right on top of the action of Bamburri beach. Please read the forum, you will gauge the necessary requirements. Yes, if you book a double, there should be no concern with getting the honnies to your place of rest/ practice.

i had a similar experience: when i met the girl that is at now my wife (in ivory coast) i fell so deeply in love that i went to my country’s embassy requesting for a tourist visa for her (i wanted her to come in europe with me for some time, before going further into the relationship).

at the time, the situation in ivory coast was really bad, with a lot of people wanting to flee away from the war, so the embassy’s personnel made their best to deny it (actually she could get a visa only if she was rich, with a permanent work, a lot of money in her bank’s account, an house and so on..) and i was so angry (and deeply in love) that i began flying to abidjan every month or so.

my professional life was going to be compromised, so we ended up with a marriage.
i must say that that was maybe the best decision i’ve taken in my life but, after more than four years of happy marriage, i think that, at the time, the correct thing to do was another one: i should have left europe and migrate to africa.

there are many reasons for this, but i’ll write down only three (to be short).

first, for me it could be easy to find a well paid job there, maybe with an european company.

my salary will have been sufficient to have a good life in africa.

my wife instead has a lot of problems to get a decent job here, because of language, of different schooling (her diplomas have no value) and even of racism.

if you’re rich, this will not matter, but if you aren’t then your girlfriend will be obliged to accept some low grade and low pay job.

second, even if she is honest and loves you, she could not forget her family, and she will want to help them (actually they’ll will think that she is obliged to do so).

if she has a decent job, half of her salary will return to africa to pay for shoes, schooling, medical care and cell-phones for them.

if she has no decent job, that’s up to you to find the funds.

please remember that her extended family will be very large (i actually have more than 23 nephews and nieces), and so the expenses.

third, it could be very difficult to find the reason and the time to return to africa and hunt for lions and gazelles (the ones you show in your photos) if she is living in your country.

she will want to return with you (doubling the ticket’s price), all the time you will be escorted by some member of her family, you will be obliged to live with her, so not time and no occasion for hunting.

i agree with speed13 and schuerzenjaeger comments, but it up to you to decide.

So that restaurant is called Bora Bora? Bora Bora was the famous nightclub there by the trail that comes out next to Sai Rock. It was notorious as the only place on the coast that did "strip shows," which in Kenya, of course, means stripping to a bikini. But even that is pretty land-breaking, since 15 years ago even the thought of a Kenyan woman taking off her clothes in front of other Kenyans was unthinkable. Now they have showtime everywhere. But Bora Bora had to shut down when tourism crashed in '03. On another note, that was the best time to be on the coast. I guess the nightclub is gone, but its legend shall never die :)

From my experience, the following advice i would like to share with you: Let your emotions settle first. You do not know this girls objectives and goals. Get to know her first over the phone, you will realise what you are dealing with over a period of time.

Has she a boyfriend/ husband, where is she now, in the clubs, looking for business? Mate, this may sound brutal, but i am talking solely from experience.
