Now done my e-visa number 5. Visa was alltime out after 1 day.
Flew into NBO Aug 21; had applied and received my e-visa in < 24 hours. HOWEVER, I was in same Customs line in NBO after deboarding with a couple who had not received evisa after a week. Lufthansa had still allowed them to board. I don't know exactly what happened as I was ahead of them in line but I am certain they would have been granted a visa on arrival.

I feel a bit fortunate as there is a POC with the local embassy who quickly responds to my email inquiries, and the e-visa (short) are all processed locally and not in Kenya. Unfortunately, I have been waiting over 2. 5 months for a 5 year visa and those are all processed in Kenya so sure if or when I will get that visa.

    eCitizen back online

I crossed a land border today. The eCitizen site has been online since the Aug 3.

I should also explain VoA at land borders. Kenya immigration officer will refer you to a cyber shop where a familiar will create an eVisa for you for a fee. Once you pay, the cyber shop familiar will hand carry the receipt to the immigration officer and the officer will give you a visa even before the eVisa is approved. You will be instructed to print the eVisa once its approved.

Anyone knows if I could still get a visa on arrival from EU with an EU passport and if I still need a nose rape certificate (aka covid test for the unvaxxed)?

    Kthx.
You could always have gotten a VoA if you cross via land borders. That goes for Uganda too. Even though you can use a eVISA at the land borders, you only needed eVISA if you flew in. Since the site is down, you can get a VoA at the airport now too.

From 9 May 2023 the Government of Kenya no longer requires proof of either COVID-19 vaccination or a negative COVID-19 PCR test for entry into Kenya.

When I arrive March 15 I was able to receive 140 shillings to the dollar in nairobi which was above the official rate then the President made a speech about the giving dollars over the official rate so the dollar is now before the offiicial rate I was able to receive 135 on Friday April 28. I guess Kenya has a big black on dollars they want dollars here.

    Protests Mondays and Thursdays

There have been violent protests starting Monday, March 20. I understand they will be held every Monday and Thursday. Nairobi, Eldoret, Kisumu and Kakamega are the most violent so far.

    No Need to Leave EAC

On December 8, I asked Kenya Immigration a question that comes up often between long stay travelers in Kenya:

Q: "After my Kenya 3 month tourist visa and 1-3 month extension expire, do I need to leave the East Africa Community (EAC)?

A: "We get this question often. You must leave Kenya and apply for a new Kenya visa; you are NOT required to leave EAC. ".

In fact, I apply and print my new Kenya visa before I leave Kenya.

Was leaving Tanzania on a 1 hour flight to Nairobi on the 29th of Novemeber (2022). I had the GH QR code handy if requested, along with my vaccination cert. The only reason I knew about the Global Haven website is because my travel itinerary through Kiwi.com, informed me that I needed to certify my vaccination. And complete it through the Global Haven portal. So I completed it.

At Tanzania airport, Tanzania Air had their staff pre screening passengers passports, checking vaccination status, before allowing you to get to the ticket counter. Ticket counter never asked to see a QR code, nor asked to see my vaccine card. They just concentrated on ticketing and baggage drop off. At Tanzania immigration, I had to fill out a departure card for my stay in Tanzania.

I get to Nairobi, and way before you are allowed to get to Immigration, staffers are just outside of the building asking for vaccine certs. This was a quick process that took seconds. They were not spending any time closely examining vaccine certs. I showed my vaccine card which was quickly glanced at and then I was allowed to go straight to immigration. I'm not sure if there were any individuals who volunteered to show a Global Haven QR code instead. But showing a QR code obviously wasnt required.

At immigration there were NO arrival cards required to be filled out (Like I had to do in Tanzania). I showed my 5 yr e-visa, was asked how long was I staying this trip in Kenya. Was then advised that since I have a 5 yr visa, I should go to the US embassy in Nairobi to get my passport stamped so I won't have to rely on the paper copy of my e-visa for subsequent visits.

Another thing I was happy about, is that no other vaccinations were required to enter Kenya, namely not needing a Yellow Fever certification. Entering Kenya was a very smooth process, same as it was entering Tanzania. Not having to wear masks in these countries, on their planes or within their airports was a very welcome change to what I was used to.
    Hi,

I flew from Bangkok to Nairobi on Kenya Airways. No yellow fever certificate was asked for on arrival in Kenya. However, on the return flight to Bangkok the yellow fever vaccine certificate was needed.
