Posts: 390New trend in Mombasa, prostitutes in burka ...?
I found this report on the BBC website:
(full article here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/6291100.stm )
Prostitutes are known for their skimpy attire, but Kenya's coastal port of Mombasa is witnessing a controversial fashion makeover.
The twilight ladies, as the city's residents refer to the sex workers, have traded their revealing outfits for the more austere buibui - a loose, floor-length gown and head covering favoured by Muslim women.
Walking along the city's main red-light streets at night, one comes across many of the buibui-clad prostitutes.
Although most shy away from speaking to the press, a few are willing to talk.
"I'm better off wearing the buibui so I look respectable. I can avoid arrest. I am just trying to get some money to live on," one says.
Another claims she wears her buibui to hide her identity.
"I know I am sinning, but I'm forced to because I am looking for my livelihood. So to me, it's acceptable," she says.
Most of her customers are local men, not tourists. She says wearing a buibui helped them to more easily pick out women from the region.
But the phenomenon is causing a stir in the predominantly Muslim city where religious women are required to cover their bodies from head to toe.
Some female residents say it is a big disgrace.
"I feel so embarrassed that sometimes I contemplate removing my buibui and throwing it away. The buibui has lost its respect," Mariam Salma says.
Another resident, Asha Hussein, claims the sex workers are not native to Mombasa.
"They are not Muslims. Most are from Somalia and Ethiopia. They wear it to avoid public humiliation," she says.

Posts: 4050I'm becoming an avid reader of this board in anticipation of my September trip to Kenya and you guys have me drooling over the photos. I'm sitting here in one of the pussy capitols of the world in the Philippines, and I still cannot get the images out of my head.
Well done! Keep the photos coming.

Posts: 94I'm not yet on the ground (what is a very pity for my balls) but I have these elements of information: A clear map of the zones where the risk of ethnic conflicts (competition for the land and may be the black ass) is high:
http://www.diplomatie.gouv.fr/fr/con...271/index.html
(This map doesn't include the isg forum).
The situation for the Mungiki political violence is more complex. Last killings of Mungiki members occured in Kangema (center region of the Kenya)and Mathare district in Nairobi. The "trigger happy" behavior and the violence of the police against innocents caused the escape of hundreds of people of this district.
In Mombasa the police shot recently at gangsters (non-Mungiki).
It is thus necessary to get informations about the places to avoid. Places as Mtwapa/Mombasa seem to me completely saved by the phenomenon :)

Mate,
Although events are of concern, election time is nearing - hence the violence - this is true to tradition in Africa if not sectors of our world.
If you are travelling to Kenya soon do not worry yourself too much as you are a tourist and not politically connected. Your main concern is towards your own safety, in other words: Be aware of your surroundings, do not make yourself a criminal target.
The criminals do not indiscriminately attack you for no reason, they watch and chose their victim beforehand particularly if they suspect you are carrying large amounts of money or displaying your jewelry.

The ass might be Ok, but the difference between hips and waist is marginal.

Caucasians has actually genetically more in common with both East and West Africans than what East and West Africans has in between. How this can be is a long story that the scientists has a number of theories about, and I'm sure that there are more pressing things to discuss here :) !

Guys,
If you're looking for mixed blood, Africa is your paradise because several studies on the variation of ADNmt in the human populations have confirmed that it is in Africa that there is greatest genetic diversity.
If mixed blood means beauty, it is logically in Africa that you will be likely the most to find beautiful women, an men but I believed to understand that nobody was interested by this subject here:).
Good hunting ! I'll arrive to Nairobi the next week !
