Why are you nervous? Your trip may not be the same as mine or others. Women have feelings like men. They see a fat or old tourist, you best believe they are charging him more. Unless that women is in need of quick money or playing the long game with you. A lot is involved in a trip. Are you adventerous? Are you afraid to walk up to women and talk to them on the street? Some men are caged animals and want to be spoon fed. While others like to go out and hunt. To me, it's not that complicated. Find out where ground zero is and go from there. You start there and then span your horizon. The game is the same in any country. This is not complicated. I am at the point of mongering that I don't want to be around other tourist / foreigners. I didn't travel across the world to hang out with other tourist. That's just me and others are different. Sometimes your best information are from uber drivers, bartenders, and doormen / porters. Having a good personality goes along way.

I can't stand arrogant people, arrogant people are always ignorant. The same things can be said without treating others like shit, without teasing and without feeling like God. Maybe when Neddy started poking his nose out o f his house they treated him at the same way but that's not a good reason to act the same way.

In my humble opinion, some of us could best serve the community by being a little bit less sensitive. When we have a community treasure like Neddy who is unpaid yet still takes the time to share his hard earned and invaluable experiences with us, that is an act that should be cherished and not picked at because a few students are unhappy with the delivery of his teachings.

Maybe he tires of giving the same advice over and over and maybe we cannot understand how he feels unless we are in his shoes (and we aren't). We don't all have his experience which he readily admits came to him along with many failures and losses. We all will experience losses and failures in the Land of The Dark Continent. But it is guides and experts like Neddy that leave us invaluable crumbs of wisdom that can enhance and quite possibly even save the outcomes of some of our own adventures.

Neddy is like Indiana Jones. He is the one who went the furthest and in some cases achieved the impossible. Don't bite the hand that feeds us please. He may not always have the best patience with all of us and especially those who don't RTFF or ask noob-like questions. Who knows, maybe Neddy can even tell if someone is not going to make it in Africa and he already knows / feels it but he doles out advice anyways? Not up to us to determine or to complain when his contributions are so valuable.

Took a late afternoon walk to get my bearings and see what is open. In daylight as I don't want to look lost at night. La Chaaz seems to be back up and fully rebuilt. It is a nice spot with reasonably priced food and drink. The Boardroom a short walk away and then a walk to Ambience. There was another place called Durban Club nearby, going to make a full night and see how I judge the places.

Monday night I went for a bit of food at Samaki Samaki around 10 pm. Even then there were some ladies trying to make eye contact with me. Most seem to congregate around the central T-shaped seating area in the main room. Only 6 that I could see and 2 I would take a swing at. Sadly I was working that night so could not take anyone home. Both here and Q bar are way overpriced for beer and food.

Next night off is NYE. Will try and sample a good night out.

Arrogant or not is not important for me. But Neddy gives always good advices if it comes to Africa or Madagascar travels. Now, if you are arguing that Neddy is not worthy to post here or if you think he is not wanted here or if he is spamming or giving us false information then you may have something to ***** about. But stop right there because we all know this is not true. This forum is not a place for sensitive egos. Just share, ask, give, and report. I for one, love reading Neddy's posts and find humor in all of his responses because they are from the heart.

Let's all cherish valuable contributors like Neddy because they are the ones that make this forum great.

In my humble opinion we are lucky to have an African continent legend like Neddy on this forum to be giving us all advice and sharing pieces of his actual experience. Maybe some readers of his info would benefit us all by being less sensitive to his scoldings of those who are light years behind him in knowledge. Neddy should be cherished for what he is. Someone who has fearlessly accomplished everything we all want to do and still unselfishly takes the time to reach back and dole out advice and ideas / concepts to the rest of us. Imagine how many silent readers / lurkers are benefiting from Neddy's posts yet 2 or 3 kids in the class whine and try to send him away because they were not uplifted and stroked by his delivery? Come on smart guys. Don't bite the hand that feeds us fo so many years.

I for one am a veteran of Africa and I encourage Neddy to please continue your valuable contributions sir and please disregard the oddball snickerings from the peanut gallery about your lack of sensitivity in some of your deliveries / teachings.

I for one, enjoy your sense of humor and your ability to show us how our mindsets should be when we are in the land of the Dark continent that can and will eat us alive without having our stern wits about us. In most of our eyes, you are an MVP and those who attack you over their psychological insecurities on an online forum are simply too sensitive. We won't stand for the cancel culture on this site. Ah perfect timing. I went to Ambience tonight to look for Corner Bar. I thought I was being stupid and could not find it. So the boarded-up place next door was the place? Dang. On that street ladies of negotiable affection were lined up along the road. (my uber decided that was the route to take LOL). Nothing took my fancy over there.

I just arrived yesterday in Dar. I haven't been to Sinza yet, but in Oyster Bay area everything is open as usual (Q-Bar, Elements, Samaki Samaki), so I am pretty sure in Sinza is the same.
