on msasani peninsula there are several massage places i've now seen and some i've tried. staying away from the nasty looking ones reviewed before here. ddon't need the trouble.

* touch spa each location seems ligit, nothing extra. there's a touch spa everywhere it seems.

* the three thai places on the peninsula also legit as far as i can tell, very good therapeutic massages.

* headline hair salon in the mayfair plaza (corner on the left) in mikocheni you can get an oily massage with extras. shower. girl is pleasant and very accommodating. get your hair cut, too.

Well as far as I know Tanga, there are two clubs. One called La Cassa Chica its very near to the harbor and another is Chichi Night club which is just in town, all these are not high standard night clubs, few foreigners are visiting and please beware of robbers and pic pockets. It seems quite easy to get in contact with all sorts of girls, BUT:

Yes, its very possible to visit serengeti for not more than 500USD but that depend on season. May is a mid season in Tanzania few more tourists are visiting this country so you might get the serengeti 3 days package for less than 500. From dar its easy to reach Zanzibar (my home town) you can either take a flight cost you about 50usd (20 min flight) or take a ferry boat less than 30 USD (90 minutes). Visa is possible at the airport or at the border

Sorry to ask an off-topic question but am at my wits end. Will be in Tanazania / Dar mid-may. Can't believe how expensive safari in Serengeti is for me solo (about $2000USD). A lot lot more expensive than masai mara. Any tips / contacts where I can do a quick short cheap ($500USD) Serengeti trip (3 days)? In which case I would do Dar-Zanzibar- (fly).Serengeti- (fly / bus).Mombasa- (bus).Dar. I am guessing that if I take bus from Dar to Mombasa I can get Visa at the border (I am australian) and when I return back to Dar then I don't need a visa again as Kenya / Tanzania have an agreement that allows you to travel between the two using single entry Visas.

Hi guys first post so please be gentle. In reply to Vanilla a lot depends on where you want to stay. The Two Trees or Two views (cannot remember) in Sinza (not to be confused with the Double Tree Hilton) offers a very comfortable and discreet experience for around 50, 000 tsh but that is for 24 hours including breakfast (if you are a generous guy who is not jealous you could get her to book in, do your dirty deeds and allow her the privilege of staying there the night with the chance of entertaining further customers in comfort thus reducing your charge for her services. Believe me some of the girls are happy to have a comfortable bed and a decent shower.) There is a bit rougher short time place a few metres past there. No idea of the name, but comfortable enough.

Mikocheni has numerous well used places which are normally fully booked as soon as it rains due to the fact that bosses can take their secretaries using the excuse to their wives that they cannot get home due to flooding! They tend to be basic but comfortable for a short time experience.

Another alternative for total discretion is to cross over on the ferry to Mikadi beach where a small Banda will cost you in the region of $15 or less depending on the season however the queue for the ferry can be a total pain especially during the rush hours unless you go as foot passengers.

The usual haunts of Mongerers here such as Q Bar do offer rooms but charge for the full night.

As mentioned earlier it is worth offering the lady a full night in the hotel / bedsit booked under her name, on the understanding that the charge for services provided to you are discounted.

There are many guest-houses all around varying from very basic to a bit more comfortable where you can go & do your thing ST.

Some of them even have a court where you can park your car, so they open the doors, you get in quickly and after they close the gate nobody will see you are there.

Sorry, I can't give you concrete addresses now as it has been quite a while since I've been there.

Depends what you want to do. For mongering reasons for sure no need to go to Zanzibar.

I would recommend you to visit Lamu in Kenya instead, same culture, same background. Much smaller and more true "swahili" culture since less exploited by mass tourism.

But also no mongering / party place, but a very nice island to spend a few romantic and laid nights with a hottie of choice. Nicest beach in Kenya.

Can be reached by bus (I recommend Thameed the night bus (office in Mtwapa!) , or otherwise Tawakal). Just make sure you get a seat in a big bus, since they operate also medium-sized ones.

Alternatively you can take fly540 from Malindi for very cheap money.

Lamu is definitely not dangerous.

I lived there and left in December and stayed on the coast for 2 years.

My friend did this trip just two-three weeks ago, he went from Mombasa by bus to Malindi, and then by plane to Lamu.

He told me that Lamu was nice place and very safe.

Easiest way to get to Lamu is if you are in Nairobi, there are direct flights to there and back, no need to sit in the bus.

By the way, in the Malindi there were some problems in the Casino, this group which wants independece for Kenya coast attacked to the casino, police shot many of them. This same group made problems during elections. But somali radicals have been quiet long time.

Similar to the question below, I will be landing in dar for 3 weeks. Was initially very keen to do the safari but too expensive (serengeti) and I've already done it before in Kenya. I will definitely make my way to Zanzibar as it had been a dream. But is Zanzibar just as good as Mombasa or is mombasa way way better and cheaper that I should make my way there for 2. 5. Weeks. I like beach. GFE, partying rather than just getting a quickie in a massage / brothel.

My personal opinion is that you should fly to Mombasa, to the north coast. You can get cheap flights from Dar to Mombasa.

I think Mombasa coast is best mongering place in East Africa.

Zanzibar is quite quiet place, I have been only one night in the Stone Town but I think that is where most action is in Zanzibar.
