What was strange at least before in Tanzania, English language newspapers did not write anything about this kind of robberies. Crime section was missing totally. There was some web page where somebody collected this kind of stories, but I don't remember name of web page.

I have never been robbed in Tanzania. In Kenya, my phone was removed once from my pocket, but I got it back. A few times girls in Kenya have stolen from from my room, each time I have not been sure who it has been, since I have noticed only much later, and there has been so many girls. Money, extra phone.

I consider East African countries and places where I visit generally safe, Mombasa, Dar es Salaam, Kampala (Nairobi. Hmmmmm). In South America it is much more dangerous, there I have been robbed so many times, Brazil and especially Rio of course, Colombia, Argentina.

Sorry for your loss man, Nothing ever good happens when you are out alone in a remote area, by yourself. Where you drunk at the time? Drinking, or doing drugs, and going out late at night, by yourself, only brings out thieves. In the future you might also want to consider getting two phones, and use one as a burner. Take that with you when you go out, and leave your nice phone at home, in a safe place. Take only the amount of cash that you are willing to lose, or spend when you go out, night or day.

I hope you have learned something from this. Lessons are always learnt well when things like this happens to me. Just my 2 cents, and words of wisdom.

Well my work threw me a surprise and I was send to Dar es Salaam for a job. Normally I only stay somewhere for one night, but I decided to stay an extra night (I work freelance so have this liberty, could have stayed a week but it is high season for work now).

Visa on arrival went smooth. Although they had a computer outage, it was all solved with smiles.

Customs (for my work) was smooth, all smiles, as long as you stay polite (which I always am with officials in every country). A few jokes go a long way. At the airport all ATM's were switched off so I couldn't take out local currency. Luckily I had USD and Euro in abundance on me and the local company I delivered my goods too brought me to the hotel.

Normally I stay one night so am to tired to move out of my hotel because of my hectic flying schedule. I arrived broken at 01:00 am in my hotel, north of Coco Beach (my contractor had booked so no choice). I switched on tinder and withing minutes I had match after match after match. I never was successful on tinder in other countries so this was a huge surprise.
