Just unexpectedly lost my job yesterday so need a holiday somewhere. I don't have to worry about the self quarantine upon return now.

Have seen flights from my local airport in UK to Dar via Amsterdam for £750 return and tempted to book it.

Only thing I'm afraid of is if I get there and the bars have closed and country gets locked down.

Can anyone guess the chances of this and how things are on the ground at the minute?

Also where are masks compulsory if anywhere? Lastly I know I need to apply for a visa to save me getting one on arrival, don't think I need a yellow fever shot but is it recommended? What other shots should I get and should I just buy the malaria tablets at home or over there.

I entered Tanzania without any problems.

Visa on arrival is available.

Stay at KingD hotel for 60,000 a night.

Found a nice slim 20 year old girl at Coco Beach.

Damage 30 k for 1 h.

Hi, can you tell me if you had a transit through Nairobi as it seems all Swiss Air flights have a 1 hour layover there but I can't find info on whether international passengers are allowed to transit?

I applied my visa online.

Processing time was 2 days.

Validity 2 month.

LOL this isn't Zimbabwe. There's plenty of ATMs in Tanzania, especially in urban areas like dar. They usually are stocked with cash so you shouldn't have a problem with your visa or Mastercard.

Pounds are also exchangeable for shillings if you opt to come with cash. They get a much better rate than dollars.

If Nairobi doesn't open by mid August which the first time I get reasonably priced flights to Dar and I don't have to self quarantine on my return to England for 14 days I'm going to head over there.

Is there any German or European that have flown recently to Tanzania on June. Am asking because for what I know German borders are still closed for countries outside the Schengen area. I'm quite confuse about it because they are selling flights to Tanzania but I don't know if the authorities will allow me to board the plane.

If you were required to have visa, how did you (or how will you) get it?

I got the visa online through the Tanzania Immigration website costing $50. They said it takes around 10 days as far as I can remember but mine was issued in less than 48 hours. A simple straight forward process. Apparently there is also VOA but messing around at night when you land in visa queues doesn't make a lot of sense when there is an easy online process. I would much prefer to land with visa in hand.

-if you do not cross the endemic countries on your flight, you will not be asked about certificate. The cost is 50 $ on arrival if they see that you had to get the certificate and you don't have it.

Hi, I'm arriving on the 7th July and will message you, hotel booked in Sinza and transfer quoted by the hotel Travellers Home at $20. I would prefer to try an uber but the fact that I'm arriving at night and following safety advice I think its best to go with the hotel transfer, being that its not expensive and cheaper that the quoted airport rates as well as the fact there are reports of Ubers not showing up.

Also I rttff a number of times and The Shamool hotel seems like a great place to begin with but the email is bouncing back. There is an online reservation system but its quoting nearly double what's advertised online and what others have mentioned in reports here so I'm not sure what's up with that. I can cancel Travellers Home up until the day before check in but the reviews seem good, the price is similar to Shamool and the location is perfect. I may phone Shamool or just wait until I'm on the ground as I have only the first 3 nights of my trip booked. I haven't asked if TH is guest friendly but I presume so giving the area, either way I wll get this confirmed before check in, it just gives a bit more peace of mind choosing a hotel that has had good reports from other hobbyists.

I was staying at shamool hotel and can recommend this place. If I remember good I was paying 40 k for standard double room with free breakfast, but they also have rooms for 50 k and 60 k shillings. Don't book on their website because the prices is bullshit for foreigners. I remember it also. I just show up at hotel and get normal prices. I take uber back to airport from shamool hotel at 5 am in a morning and the cost was around 12 k shillings,(around 5 dollars) ,so another hotel want charge you 4 times more for transport.

I can see a lot of hotels around and most are friendly!
