I was staying at shamool hotel and can recommend this place. If I remember good I was paying 40 k for standard double room with free breakfast, but they also have rooms for 50 k and 60 k shillings. Don't book on their website because the prices is bullshit for foreigners. I remember it also. I just show up at hotel and get normal prices. I take uber back to airport from shamool hotel at 5 am in a morning and the cost was around 12 k shillings,(around 5 dollars) ,so another hotel want charge you 4 times more for transport.

Yes I am truly grateful for your reports and they probably convinced me to go on this adventure. There was such great detail in your reports and you seem like to hunt for girls they way I do.

I would really like to stay at Shamool but as you said thier online pricing system is ridiculous. I get the impression from reading on here that it's a lot harder to get a cheap fare from the airport than from the city to airport and as I'm arriving at 9 pm this limits my time and options. I would prefer to try an uber but the fact that I'm arriving at night and following safety advice I think its best to go with the hotel transfer, being that its not expensive and cheaper that the quoted airport rates as well as the fact there are reports of Ubers not showing up.

Also I rttff a number of times and The Shamool hotel seems like a great place to begin with but the email is bouncing back. There is an online reservation system but its quoting nearly double what's advertised online and what others have mentioned in reports here so I'm not sure what's up with that. .

I can cancel Travellers Home up until the day before check in but the reviews seem good, the price is similar to Shamool and the location is perfect. I may phone Shamool or just wait until I'm on the ground as I have only the first 3 nights of my trip booked. I haven't asked if TH is guest friendly but I presume so giving the area, either way I wll get this confirmed before check in, it just gives a bit more peace of mind choosing a hotel that has had good reports from other hobbyists.

Yellow fever is mandatory, but for palu / malaria there is no vaccine.

Preventive measures and drugs against malaria are among others in risky areas wearing long sleeves and trousers at night, use a spray with high DEET on uncovered parts, such as ankles, neck, . Sleeping under a mosquito net treated with DEET, or if you have a AC lowest temperature, and don't forget to use the prescribed medicine like malarone, or Lariam, Or Doxycycline etc against palu.

You could be very sick once you get malaria. You feel very miserable and your holiday will be screwed.

Typhus vaccine is also recommended.

Excuse me to disagree. You may be surprised how much local businessmen pay for a girl. Its their pride that they can afford a 100 $ or more girl and they can boast against their comrades. Also guys on a biz trip and not being able to roam the roads but just want after a meeting a one-hour fuck in their hotel room. For them a 100 $ ST shag is ok. Disregarding that the girls perhaps get 50% of that only. The difference goes to the pimp behind.

But the typical SingleMaleTraveller who did his groundwork on places and prices with the help of internet sites will pay the going rate as locals pay. Not only in Tanzania, but all over the world.

Local businessmen with little time for hunts, even locals who find a girl attractive at escort sites can pay that, hence making the girls confident about asking those prices. But escort sites are not a common thing of use for the buying local market. Hence the sellers are targeting the category of their main buyers (foreigners, business guys, others). With time such sites will get more fame and many girls will join, the prices will lower.

- the escorts you see on the websites are normally expensive. Because so far their main customers are at large foreigners. But, you can always negotiate, get the numbers text her and give your offer. If they are not having meetings they may think of accepting your offer. Locals use whatsapp groups and the pricing is way cheaper.

- even on the ground hunts in bars and other places, they start with such prices for tourists. Its your bargain which lowers that price.

- days are not the same, example you find a girl who really needs money so she's willing to go for any price offered.
