I've been at the Laico Ledger Bahari Beach Hotel for meeting for a few days, unfortunately not staying here. It's a nice spot, beside the sea, with a good pool. So far one cleaner has given me her number (she volunteered it). In the late afternoons a few people come from outside to use the pool, including quite a few young women. I get the impression they are happy to just come and enjoy the pool and the sea breeze, but with one eye out for hooking up. I'd say if you were staying here you could have a very good time.

No. My guests were in my room only for a hour or a bit more. In any case, it was less than two hours. So, I believe that it was not required to book for 2 guests.

That is a difficult one. If you do decide to do it, I would advise that you ensure that everything of value is locked in the room safe. Also, I would meet her somewhere before hand to get a feel for what she is like. If you are not comfortable it gives you the opportunity to pull out or go somewhere else. The other option is to go to a cheaper hotel for your fun. This would cost between Tsh30,000 and TSH 70,000 for a reasonable room. Much safer but costs a bit more.

I agree. A freebie I pick somewhere in town (here at Dar like a shop keeper or promotion girl from Mlimani or the like), I might take her with me to my room after having her out for a drink or so. Advantage. She might sleep the whole night with you, giving you a nice morning round as well. I indulge that regularly when am traveling, and I never had problems. A certain level of common sense and knowledge of Kiswahili helps here, though.

Usually all those guest houses sell condoms at the reception. If Harbour View doesn't and you want to bring a girl there, make sure that you buy some at a pharmacy ("Duka la Dawa" in Kiswahili, 1 k), as bars and restaurants do normally not sell such articles.

Yes, I always felt quite safe there, There are always security guys around and there are cameras hanging everywhere.

About unwanted visitors: there is not always somebody at the reception and if they know the girls they might easily pass.

So in case you don't want some visitors I think the best thing will be to tip the receptionist and / or the security guy to not let that person reach your door.

ZimZam is right, but let me add some more practical info. Tanzania is a relatively safe place. You can walk freely during daytime most areas (the heat may make you not wanting to do so though). Apply a common sense, don't show off your phone / money / camera. In crowds there can be pickpockets.

At night avoid empty places, don't walk coco beach at night. Where there are enough people around you should be safe.

But hey, that applies to almost every bigger town in the world.

Don't make yourself be a prisoner.
