Airbnb have nice options below hundred dollars that are not studio, especially in Kampala and Entebbe. Airbnb is all I use when I am traveling in Africa.

Welcome to Africa. There is no market for self catering apartments. You have the choice for in Africa totally overpriced AirBnB or go for a cheap decent Guesthouse. There are plenty in Kabalagala. Drawback. You can't cook there. I prefer the ones run by Eritreans or Ethiopians. There's only regular furnished rental apartments for long term stay. Expect 500 $ and up for a month. Cheapest option. You rent a bedsitter which goes for 50 to 80 $ a month. Furnish it yourself for a couple of hundred bucks. Drawback. Security non-existent. If older than 5 years. No maintenance. Go figure. No power. No water. Fact is accommodation is totally overpriced in Africa. Expect bad quality for a lot of money. This is not Asia.

If you go to any major pharmacy in Kampala you can get them there, blood test and saliva test. I used both just to be sure I think the oral test cost 2000 UGX and the blood test are cheaper (I can't remember the price).

I imagine he means those rapid HIV tests. In the US there's one called OralQuick or something like that. You swab your cheek then wait 15-20 minutes for your result.

It's accurate (used it before and got an actual blood test, both negative). In Kampala I'm sure you can find them at any pharmacy that carries other imported medicinal supplies. You'll usually find other forms of contraceptives of the international variety eg plan be, trojan / durex condoms etc.

Most of the advise / answers you seek and the questions you have raised have already been answer previously by other members, take your time and read through. I will try and answer the prices query from my perspective. I believe prices are subjective.

My friends and I recently came back from Kampala and t was a blast! Let me share a little.

So a week before I travelled to Kampala, I created a tinder profile and put my best 2 pictures and the quote "On holiday, Dinner, dance, drink and F**k" (I did this so those looking for a boyfriend will stay clear).
