Good post and good information, positive and useful, the way things should be. I was also in Uganda and Kenya this past winter from November until April. I spent nearly two months in Mtwapa, mid January through mid March. And yes, hot as Hades all day and all night for me as well! I was told by several people that the weather from June through to September is a little less intense and that I may find those months a little easier to exist in?

Of course, everyone tolerates heat and humidity differently. One person is OK, and the person next to them is under the table dying. So really asking others for opinions on how 'we' might find the weather is of limited value I'm afraid.

Fortunately many weather sites now a days include a lot of detailed annual information which can be useful in trying to decide if seasonal variations will be significant? One of my usual stomping grounds is the North coast of the Dominican Republic. For me the climate from early November through to the end of March is pretty ideal, so I use this a base line when comparing other locations.

I'll try and include a few links for examples. You can plug in any locations you wish and see if the results are useful to you.

Like you, I am considering re-visiting the region from say, mid to late June through early September to see if things are more bearable? However what I am seeing is that while temperatures do moderate a few degree's, it's not really looking significantly cooler.

Again, it largely boils down to one's personal ability to tolerate heat and humidity. I agree, Uganda was better for me temperature wise, but there were things I enjoyed about Mtwapa. And I would also like to visit Zanzibar and Nosy Be.

OK, good luck with your planning. I think options include limiting the amount of time, and the season, one spends in hot area's?

I have been to Uganda and Kenya. Prefer Uganda by far, friendlier and more honest people. Also the climate I like better in Uganda, in daytime I struggle but in mornings and evenings it is OK. Was in Mtwapa in October and it was unbearable in daytime and also too hot in evenings. I want to be able to move around also in daylight, I do not like staying up until 06.00. Felt like a boiled Lobster in Mtwapa, walking 50 m in shirt is already soaking wet.

Now I have been thinking about visiting Madagascar but not decided yet. How do Madagascar compare to Uganda? I know Madagascar has many climate zones but is for example Nosy Be in June as hot as Mtwapa?

You can't book from abroad. Get yourself a Mpesa mobile money account in Kenya. Make a stopover in Nairobi there is plenty to see and to nail. Go and visit the railway museum in Nairobi. There you learn a lot about the history in Kenya. In Africa you have to take relaxed attitude towards travelling. Pole pole.

Thanks, I saw Jambo Jet $130 usd ebb-Nairobe, $30 to mba. But only one flight a day from ebb, 10 pm arrival + 40 minutes till mba flight. I can't book through itinerary on website, so 40 minute layover on 2 separate itineraries. Probably not the best idea.

I would prefer to just skip Nairobi. But if I must stay there I kinda want to take the train to Mombasa. First Class train no cheaper than the flight, just think it would be cool to see some of the country. I can't figure out how to book train tickets from abroad??
