As long as you not tell us the name we can't check your story is true. For me are the diffenrences to big (80 k to 300 k).

I'm pretty sure there are some on the forum that have never been anywhere. There are a few in "every" forum who only dream. And only want to talk about their dreams.

Nice try to make me give the name so I prove my credibility. The big difference is due to the fact 300.000 is astronomic for this place. 80.000 is without negotiating and for one night. In 2018 I paid 30 USD. Do not worry. If you go to Kampala you find places similar to mine for the same price. My place is 80- 90% empty.
And finally. It is not just for a hotel guest to post discouts in a travel forum.

Compared to Nairobi Tinder is better in Kampala. In Nairobi the majority looks for a serious relationship. The bad habit of demanding ubermoney in advance is there in both.

I got a hotel for 20 dollars (38 usd on booking.com) by talking to the manager and paying one week in advance.

Another quite good one where I have stayed in 2018 is for 80.000 Shillings. In the www it runs for 300.000.

I won't name the hotels they are in town center. On the street there are many motorbikes and shops. Inside it is remarkable quiet. The one I am staying now is with Dstv. Three channels are working: Aljazeera, football and moviechannel. Both hotels have good restaurants. The rooms are not to small. Misquitonets are there but no mosquitos; rather some ants. So I don't use the net. According to western standards I would give them 2-3 stars. Rather 2.

By posting I wanted just to show what can be possible by negotiating.

I also know some good bars with girls in Mombasa. But I'm not saying the names or where they are, I just want to say that they exist. LOL.

Does anybody know if these quick HIV Tests are available in Kampala, like in Mombasa, where you can buy them at every Pharmacie??

And how about other things like antibiotics or sleeping pills? Are they available in pharmacies without prescription?

I was planning to go to Kampala too. When I was searching where to do my yellow fever vaccination in France the laboratory told me that Ebola virus was back in Kampala and other cities. I checked on the government website if it is right and it seems that it is. For this year I cancelled my trip to Uganda.

As of September 20, there have been approximately 140 Ebola cases in Uganda. The probability of dying on the road in Kampala (Boda Boda) is a thousand times higher.

Nevertheless thanks for your answer. But it doesn't quite match my question. (#2105)
