    Thomasb again

Then it does match your timetable, and there is at least a chance the child is yours. I presume this is causing you some distress, otherwise why would you post this question/statement.

The question is what do you want to do, and will you be happy with that decision?

I am answering your question as I was in a very similar position and had to make some difficult choices. In short I took the kid home after a DNA test, because the mother was totally incapable of looking after the kid. The mother remains in Uganda. I am not suggesting that you have to make this choice.

Tricky situation. If the baby is 10 months old *now* then she was born in February 2007, and concieved around May 2006. This doesn't match with your stated timetable.

In terms of nationality I presume you weren't married at the time and the baby, if indeed it is your biologicially, has the nationality of the mother (I presume Ugandan), rather than than the father. Depending on the laws in your country the child may or may not have a claim to your nationality, however most Western countries have tightned up the laws on this and the chances are not. Foreign embassies will also often insist on a DNA test to identify any claims.

However, it is also true that women will claim the baby as belonging to various people in order to secure payment. I know one woman who had twins, a boy and girl by her Ugandan boyfriend. The boy died at birth and she claimed the boy was born white, the girl black. A dutchman paid a stipend of 300,000 UGShs every month in the belief that the girl was his (although she looked African rather than mixed race).

The answer is take care. There are very many mixed race children in the ghettoes in Kampala.

DNA tests are possible if you take swabs from the child and yourself and process through a company in Europe. It will cost.

    Questions on venues

There is a new nightclub in town, called Sway, across from the Post Office. Has anyone visited the place?

There are also two places that look like good spots, one is the Tavern (formerly Victoria Tavern) and the other is a bar in the basement of a restaurant directly across Kampala Road from City Square. I have only eaten at the restaurant at lunch time when the bar was deserted but it looked like it had potential. Anybody had any experiences with any of these places recently?

    Very seedy massage parlor

In my search for seedy massage parlors I found myself walking up the steps to a massage attached parlor attached to a Chinese restaurant on Jinja Road across the street from the DFCU Bank. The place has a poster offering "full body and special massage, " whatever that means. After running the gauntlet of a prayer fellowship meeting in the restaurant over lunch time, I found the proprietor. She asked whether "a Ugandan girl" was OK, to which I replied in the affirmative. I was then ushered into a small room separated from the fire-breathing born again Christians by a small partition. My masseuse, who was heavily bleached and not very attractive, then showed up and got me started. As I got undressed I noticed that there was an adjacent "room" separated from the massage room by a curtain--the room had a bed in it. The masseuse started giving me a weak massage while some very energetic preaching rang in my ears. After a fairly short lousy massage, she offered a small extra, which I accepted. Overall, I was happy to get out of there, especially since the fellowship meeting was over by the time I ran the gauntlet again, with only 30, 000 Ushs in damage (20, 000 for the massage plus 10, 000 in tip). Not really recommended, but if you find another masseuse there, you might have better luck, as there are apparently three women working there.

    MP beolw crested towers

I have visited the Chinese mp below crested towers at daytime.

Place is ok. Good showers as mentioned earlier. I had to wait for it to be washed before I could use it.

One hours massage for 20K. The masseuse did a good job. At least for Kampala. She was realtively moderately dressed.

Upon asking, she gave a hj for 20K.

A bit on the steep side. But since the massage was good as well. I will probably be back.

    Article on MPs

There is an article on sex in massage parlors in Kampala in one of this week's Sunday papers. Not a lot of information but interesting, and it points to a Asian MP previously reviewed by me on this board as one of the possible spots.

I also have two updates on places recently visited:

Sparkles in the Garden City Mall--a beauty parlor with massage facilities. The massages cost 25, 000 but extras do not seem to be available, although maybe I just had a masseuse with a bad personality. With the way the rooms look, though, extras should be available. It's worth a vist just to see the massage rooms! They are tiny but full of personality.

Fairway Hotel--a hotel with massages costing 20, 000. Some extras were available; I tipped 10, 000 for a HJ, not sure if more is available. Masseuse was pleasant and facilities were pretty poor.

    In response to CFC Jim

Depending on where you want to stay, the renovated Sheraton is a good option; otherwise, unless you want to go to the very expensive places, the best places are the newer ones a bit outside the city center. There are two new ones on Kololo, the Protea and the Metropole, and also the Imperial Royale, which is central. IMHO, the Grand Imperial is pretty lousy. Downtown is best for easy access to some common mongering spots like Rock Garden; it is fairly safe now in downtown at night but for moving around at night it's best to take a taxi to most places.

The Copper Bar at the Grand Imperial was still closed at the last visit. From Grand Imperial, however, you can easily walk to Rock Garden, which is one of the prime spots.

Uganda vs Ghana long term stay

    Guys,

I need some help. I am considering spending one year in Africa to do a university project. I want to go to Ghana or Uganda, but can't deside which one is the best.

I have been to Ghana several times, but never been to Uganda or East Africa.

I already know that meeting girls in Ghana is very easy, but what about comparing these two countries when it comes to girls and living in general.

Any advice would be much appreciated..

    Hotels in K'la

There are many hotels in K'la to choose from. Many new hotels opened up in the last few months.

Here is a brief list of the most important in city centre with orientative prices.

    Sheraton 250-200$
    Kampala Serena Hotel 250$
    Grand Imperial 200$
    Emin Pasha Hotel 300$ - very exclusive I don't think it's GF.
    Fairway Hotel 150$
    Hotel Africana 150$
    Fang Fang Hotel 130$

Prices are just an indication of course to give an idea of the price range. Contact them personally or search the web for their contacts. For what I know Grand Imperial never made too much issues of bringing guests at night as long as you pay for a double room.

    No news about Copper Bar.

K'la is safe but you'll need to use a private taxi. Clubs are not near each other.

    Stay Warm and enjoy K'la!

I will be staying at the Grand Imperial next week, as the Sheraton is fully booked. Is this an ok quality wise hotel (comparitively speaking of course) and GF; or would it be worth moving to the Sheraton once it becomes available. Also, is the Copper bar open again? it seems the majority of bars are within walking distance of each other and I believe the streets are quite safe unlike certain other African countries.
Again apologies for the newbie type questions, but I promise I will post a comprehensive report once I return. Have a look in the Zambia forum if you'd like to read my first report. Hopefully I will have something similiar (pun intended) after the week is up.

Any up to date information would be incredibly appreciated - forewarned is forearmed!

    Model girls and perfect 10s

As I wrote before, model girls are hard to spot and we need a clinical eye since they don’t expose themselves too much, they don’t dance wild at clubs and most of the time they don’t hassle you too much, keep a very low profile and they choose their “friends”.

You can find them everywhere in town and I mean everywhere. From places quoted by Kanyama to the last forgotten phone booth in town. ….but even in the infamous RG you can find, searching well, beauties and perfect 10s.

What is hard to find is a perfect 10 with exceptional attitude and service. Using L/A/S I prefer a 7/10/10 to a 10/9/8 but it’s my opinion anyway.

This girl has been around RG lately and I am sure she was around in the last 6 months every weekend. I’ll protect her identity cause she’s my model sorry folks no clear face!

    Name: My Model
    Age: 19

    Place: Rock Garden
Description: Model type girl with ample and firm breast. An absolute 10. Perfect body.
Services offered: French Kissing, GFE, OWO, 69, COB.
Positive: GFE experience with a superb hot looking girl.
Negative: she’s young and inexperienced sometimes but this could be a positive too. Points of view.

Comments: No comments this time to don’t reveal too many details on her. …we had fun and she’s one of my favourite! I think it’s enough.
Recommended: yes (if you can find her)
Would I See Her Again? yes

    Damage: 40.000 + (10k added as tip)

    Stay Warm,

    Thunder Road

    RLD and Rock Garden

Another minister has recently come up to deny the gazetting of certain areas. Although it seems unlikely to proceed as government plans, certainly the streets of the center are swarming with policemen and soldiers, so some women working in these areas may choose to relocate.

For places with model-like women, I would add (to what Thunder Road has already listed) the Makerere campus, Garden City, and the Mateo's/Nandos/Vasili's complex. You might also try Rouge.

    Uganda sets up red-light district

    Prostitution is illegal in Uganda

Special zones to control the activities of commercial sex workers are being set up in Uganda's capital ahead of the Commonwealth leaders' meeting.

Kampala's mayor told a Ugandan paper it was being done to avoid embarrassing dignitaries attending the international conference which starts next weekend.

Prostitution is illegal in Uganda, but sex workers operate freely in Kampala, especially in the city centre.

Prostitutes have confirmed they have been asked to move to suburb areas.

The Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (Chogm) is being held from 18 November to 25 November in Kampala.

Dignitaries will include the head of The Commonwealth, UK Queen Elizabeth II, and her son Prince Charles.

    English lessons

Commenting on Mayor Ntege Sebaggala's plan, Local Authorities Minister Kahinda Otafiire said the relocation will be temporary.

"Much as they are doing their business illegally, the government will provide them with other operational areas during Chogm," he told Uganda's Monitor newspaper.
A prostitute in the Katwe area of the city confirmed that she and her co-workers have been told to leave the city centre streets.

"It [Chogm] has disorganised us so much because... we are being told to go other places and to bars. And some of us don't like bars, so that's the only problem we have there," she told the BBC.

The BBC's Sarah Grainger in Kampala says commercial sex workers, who usually pick up business outside the Speke Hotel and in the roads around the Crested Crane building in the centre of the city, are being asked to move to other areas like the lively suburbs of Kabalagala and Ntinda.

According to residents in central Kampala, the number of sex workers usually seen along the main city streets has drastically reduced this week.

Kampala's population is expected to swell temporarily as 53 heads of state and around 5,000 delegates descend on the city for the summit.

Prostitutes in the city say they been preparing for an influx of foreign clients.

One told the BBC they had been taking English lessons and have put up their prices for a full night from around $60 (£30) to $100 (£50).
