What did you pay for the flights? I know that when I was looking it was not cheap. I also also considering Nairobi, I'm glad this worked out for you I may also go this route. So you flew into Antananarivo and then a domestic flight to Nosybe? How exactly did you book the nosybe flight, I saw some information here that its is not easy to book an online domestic flight? I know that some people go in person to the airline office there in Antananarivo. But did you do this online? Lastly What currency did you use coming from cebu for the visa USD or EUROS? Sorry for the barrage of questions but your experience would be very similar to mine.

I actually flew business with Emirates. It was USD3,065. There was a 9 hour layover in Dubai and the price included a free night stay in a 4 star hotel about a 15 minute drive from the airport, and a chauffeur driven car for transport (I'm not sure if the free hotel option is available in economy class). By the time I got out of the airport and into the hotel and had a shower, and allowing for time to get back to the airport the next morning I only got about 4 or 5 hours sleep. But it was still better than lounging about at the airport for 9 hours. There was a free buffet breakfast at the hotel in the morning but I skipped it and instead had the free breakfast at the airport in the Emirates lounge.

For the return flight going back to Cebu (Nairobi / Dubai / Cebu), there is only a 4 hour layover at Dubai so not enough time for a night at a hotel.

All the other flights were short flights so I went economy.

I booked and paid for all 4 internal Madagascar domestic flights online before I left Cebu, there was no trouble making the bookings. Try this link;.

Yes I flew into Antananarivo from Nairobi via Kenya Airways, and then a domestic flight to Nosy Be with Madagascar Airlines. I had 4 domestic flights in Madagascar. Antananarivo (Tana) to Nosy Be return and Tana to Toamasina return.

I bought some USD and some Euros in Cebu before I left, but honestly can't remember what currency I used to get my visa when I arrived in Tana.

I flew from Mactan-Cebu to Dubai with Emirates, as I live in Cebu City it's very convenient for me. The outward flight from Mactan-Cebu makes a brief stop in Clark on the way out before heading off to Dubai but the inward flight is non-stop Dubai to Mactan-Cebu.

In Dubai there was a layover / change of plane then a direct flight to Nairobi. I used Nairobi as a hub and flew with Kenya Airways to Mombasa, to Rwanda and to Madagascar. Internal flights in Madagascar were with Madagascar Airlines.

I appreciate the honest report. Some of the men (not all) here on this mada section seem to extremally xenophobic and imo against the spirit of this "english" speaking forum. The amount of posts throwing shade at you for being honest is embarrassing. They should be ashamed of themselves its a mark of an overly paranoid and psychotic person. I hope you continue to post trip reports and continue to create a market for "Americans". I'm glad that you did not censure your post as I am sure you understood the horde of disgruntled Frenchmen would come out of the wood work to post spam admonishing you. Takes courage to be honest now days and is gold if you can find it. I have a much better feel for the temperature in mada and what I will be walking into when I make it there good job for taking the leap, if I do make it there I will also post my honest take on it to return the favor. I didn't see it but did you mention what flight you took from the Philippines? I was considering flying to mada from MNL now that you have done it maybe an insight on the flight itself?

I spent the next 5 or 10 minutes trying to get them to see reason, told the main girl we agreed 20k each and showed her the conversation exchange we had in the google translate app which keeps a history of translation requests. But it was like trying to reason with a plank of wood. They then came down to wanting 60k each!

Good job sticking to your guns this is invaluable information any other insights you have on the nosybe scene is appreciated. How much are the drinks? What is the selection of ladies like at night in the bar area? Great report, keep them coming if you can thanks!

Impressive. A 5000 $ shag. He did a 6 weeks tour of Kenya Rwanda and Madagascar and got laid CIP once. Of course if you know nothing better than Tinder and with zero french. But Americans think they can buy everything with money and play a bit in the internet. Not in Madagascar. Not in Africa. Wrong continent.

Boast?? In what way am I boasting?! Yes I have posted many pic reports from Cebu but not to boast. Every day a lot of other posters post pics of girls, are they all boasting?

I met a girl one night down at the main bar area in Ambatoloaka in Nosy Be, bought her a drink then (using the google translate app) asked prices. I asked her how much she wanted for s/t and she said it was up to me so I offered 20k and she agreed. She made no attempt to try and up the price with a higher counter offer.

I told her I was looking for a threesome and she showed me a pic of her friend. I offered the same price for her friend and she agreed. She actually used the app on my phone to confirm that is was 20k each girl and I told her yes, 20k each.

I arranged a meet them near my hotel last Saturday afternoon. They turned up on time and we went back to my hotel.

After we had finished I went to pay them and as agreed, gave each girl 20k.

At that point I told them the conversation was over, that they had been paid as agreed and that they had to leave but they refused. I told them I was going to get the hotel security and have them escorted out but they just shook their heads and sat down on the bed.

So I went down to see the hotel management and explained what had happened and asked if they could get security to remove them. I was told security only work nights but they said they would get two maintenance men to go up to the room and have a word with them.

I went back to the room and two minutes later the two maintenance men came in and had a few words with the girls. I don't know what the two guys said to the girls but barely a minute later the girls quietly got up and left the room. Then they were escorted out of the hotel, no back chat, no shouting, no loud voices, drama thankfully over!

Some very odd choices on this section of the international "sex" guide (the people who take the time to visit these boards are doing so as allies) this kind of prejudice or racism is this just with the handful of men here or is this really that hostile in Madagascar for "Americans"? Two English speaking mongers I know of JhonTron made a series of videos a few years back and "PASSIVE NOMADS" on youtube don't seem to run into nor mention this raging prejudice and / or racism people here seem to think Americans will run into. JhonTron has been in some pretty rough places but did not make mention any of this hostility in this reports.

Agree with you here. We come here seeking advice or some input. Some folks have been kind enough and I truly appreciate it. But surprised by some of the hostility and downright racist attitude by some folks. If they are not willing to help that's fine, but this kind of behaviour is really uncalled for.

The fact that we come here for knowledge and advice shows that we are at least trying to be considerate.

I appreciate your explanation because it is more what I thought I would expect from mada. I was never under the impression that I would land in mada as an expert, so whatever I learn here is invaluable. Thank you for taking the time to explain.

I think he means culture shock.

Try to date a conservative and religious arab girl as a Westerner, very hard, almost impossible.

I think it comes down on how open minded the society in the country is but the differences are there nevertheless.

Things like: Crime, absence of law and order in many regions, food poisoning, sanitary conditions, confrontation with dramatic poverty, general miss-comfort, power cuts, absence of real health infrastructure, etc.

Many of the ordinary have the dream to get a French or a Belgian guy and move to Europe where People speak French. Swiss manly French part, Germans, and Austrians also accepted. To send money home.

Then the acceptance drops dramatically.

The real Mada mongers only, are basically scared you change the Mada- to the Pattaya-system with your attitude of what they assume you have. So the try hard to piss you off.

Actually they try to piss off everybody, to have the place for them self unchanged as it was. The Madagascar I love by.
