First time poster here. I have read 2, maybe in some threads, 3 years going back from the entire Africa forum, and I am almost finished. However, I have only read the past 16 or 18 months, going back on this thread. Its just really long.

I have too say this is one of the most interesting. And yea I do have this time. Yea, I really want to visit this country. It took maybe 2 months, and I have not read every thread. I still have two or three more countries to read up on in the Africa section. The covid time I have is crazy.

Anyway, Where is this book? Its not on amazon. I could not find it there.

Planning to arrive in madirokeli / nosy be on April. Just last week with the new rules upon corona, almost everything are closed over there (according the girls.).

Any friend who knows the actual situation on the Island? Any update would be very helpful for everybody.

    Thanks in advance.
Discos are closed. No parties. Rising numbers of deaths.

Not all but enough restaurants and hotels are open. Just plan your day that after dinner you go home with your girl, which you met before at the beach, get a nice bottle of DzamaRhum plus Mixer on the balcony and have a party there. Simple fun.

    2.

    Manangareza / Manakara

Next to the train station in Tamatave. Jump on the boat!

First to finde a local " female guide " in Tamatave, fix a deal. Destination Manakara, should bee possible.

It all starts with a dream at one point, looking through the web. What a adventure!

Correct. The RN11 from Antsampanana to Vatomandry can be taken by taxi brousse. But then further south to Mananjary you need a 4 x4. Its all inland. From there however, you can use again taxi brousse to Manakara. It would be an expedition trip.

More easy via Tana, then south till Ranomafana and from there to Manakara, all possible by taxi brousse -- and perhaps return by train to Fianar.

Option is the Canal de Panglanes as organised tour.

There are some interesting looking places on that way south. I guess the Panganales is nowadays only partly open , the northern part . The rest taxi brousse if possibel or walk -LOL .

Be careful not to walk or travel in the dahalo territories, not sure you could come back to tell your story.

Last time- different route. I got in contact with a coal lorry driver for some beer I did on section with that.

Jes Manakara / Fiana. The train. As I did last time, but taxi is also operating on a good rout. Made a stop in Ranomafana for the forest.

Look always for entertaining options. But use your common sense or they chop you up and will grill you!
