Interesting new airline. Sad to note that the prices are more or less the same as AirMad if not arriving by AirMad. Otherwise AirMad is substantially cheaper.

Positive is that they got flights connecting Toamasina. Sambava - Diego Suarez without hitting back Tana.

I am sure, as Fench-speaker you will enjoy your trip. 18 days is ok.

I read the lasts 20 pages and I found good advice for my first trip to Madagascar.

I have only 18 days so I just go to the vanilla coast from 25 June to 14 July.

Next year I'll be retired and than I will have more time.

Of course I will post a report with some pictures in July.

Writing here from Antsohihy a mid-level town between Nosy Be and Mahajanga on a bad connection, apologies, does anyone know anything about obtaining a long term visa? Would love to live here long term but flying out every 3 months a hassle, especially having to go all the way to Tana to get a good priced flight usually. Right now the thieves cough cough I mean bureau is asking me for 5 million.

Yes that's not easy, at present I am gambian resident. Just shell out 75 euros and your passport and you are done.

Your best bet are the expats living there, they might have good contacts maybe somebody offers the necessary papers. I know that it is VERY BUEROCRATIC. A swiss friend of mine had to furnish 24 passport pictures.

Limit your cash on hand to a 2 or 3 day supply. ATMs can be found in most towns we travel.

Never leave Tana without sufficient Ariary reserves -- even when you will be in a minor town for a couple weeks. Unless you don't mind inevitable inconvenience and bad exchange rate. ATMs in Tulear are off-line a lot, and when they're not, a lot of people are in line. And always bring Euros to Mada; don't bother with dollars. Or with changing a little each day to chase the exchange rate.

So what s the best option? Should I use the exchange service direct in a bank?

It is true you get only 400 000 AR (120 EUR) each time you go to ATM. I do not know how many drawing you can do in a single Bank (it depends also of your bank. Both combined).

It is the reason for which personally, I was addict of Travelers checks. But now quite impossible to buy in our countries and quite impossible to exchange in Mada. I do not understand AMEX policy as it was a free treasury for them and well commissioned!

And these little plastic cards are so easy lost. TC were better.

All Banks take Visa cards.

BNI takes Visa and Master.

I also have cash (hidden in my shoes usually when traveling!) and some in belts.

And (commission included) I observed from my banks that ATM or cash brought the same net exchange.

Money changers have better rates than banks to exchange cash.

But stick to money changer shops because (except when you know the guy) you might be cheated if changing at street changers.

And always count your banknotes (for memory the biggest banknote is 10 000 AR I.E 3 EUR. So even with good belts. To exchange more than 500 EUR transform you into Michelin Bibendum!

Antalaha Sl1.

I arrived in Antalaha after a flight to Sambava as Antalaha airport is presently closed.

I took a " special" taxi, I could not share as no other passenger found to Antalaha when waiting for my luggage. Airmad had told me it cost 60/70 000 AR, but the guy announced 100000 AR, I refused and bargained down 80 000 AR.

In fact another much much cheaper optionis to take the taxi (5000 AR from airport) to taxi Brousse station; then to take the taxi Brousse (another cheap 5000 AR or 10000 AR if the two front seats are provided.

As the road between the two cities is excellent: 80 km is around 90 mn.

In fact I wanted to arrive not too late, as it was Sunday afternoon. And had made the wish to find a girl along the beach promenade.

And so it happened!

I settled again in Hazavola Hotel and by 5 pm I was on the beach promenade.

I eliminated some pros, then I saw a girl with a nice smile who was not wild.

She told me she was bachelor and free for the night! As I had get no lunch, I invited her in a new restaurant: Cap Est managed by a Franco- Malagasy couple, very good.

She told me she was working in one of the vanila factories (daily from 6. 30 to 16.30) to sort vanila beans. 25.

Back to hotel, shower and action.

Unfortunately mammals slightly affected by motherhood.

So I explained my past story to this lady, and she thanked me on infos about her receptionist.

I confirmed her that I always want girls only over 18. She confirmed that it was the rule to respect, as the other high class hotel of Antalaha: Ocean Momo had problems with the police. Accordingly we both fully agreed this policy.

Antalaha Sl2 and Hotels.

As the tricky receptionist exasperated me, I decided to have a look to other hotels to move to.

I decided first to stay at Florida Hotel which has one room with old A/C.

Highly disappointed, as expansive for quality (60000 AR) for old A/C, dirty room, smelly towels, awful bathroom.

Moreover that day it rained.

I decided to hire for nap time a small and thin girl from Andapa of 18, with no carte, I met on the beach Promenade.

In fact she did her best to excite me, as I was pretty tired and exasperated by Hazavola receptionist. I finally joined her hole and came, without having a clear idea if she had enjoyed or not in the darkness of this awful room.

So I decided in my mind I would renew in better circumstances.

I decided to join the most expansive place of the city Ocean Momo.

Room with A/C 111 500 AR.

With less amenities than Hazavola: no minibar, no TV, and no water till 10 am in the morning because of city electricity cut ("Délestage") -as in Hazavola- but there with consequence on water supply! So, plenty of water buckets provided.

However, as in Hazevola good Wifi in pleasant big main hall / restaurant.

Another point is that it is pretty isolated from city center, with a dark lane to join the place. But I would have accepted this constraint, if not so expansive for lack of some basic amenities.

By the way, I do not understand vazahas going to Vitasoa Hotel, as the rooms are very basic and mattresses have reputation confirmed to be hard as wood for 40 000 or 45 000 AR. You have excellent rooms with no A/C in Hazavola or Ocean Momo for 60 000 AR.

I spent three nights there in Ocean Momo.

First night I exercised a new girl (20) with mammals not affected by motherhood, but standard shape. She was not shaved and did not seem to enjoy DATY. She was surprised I used condom, and wished BB, I refused. When I told her moreover that I was no more inducing babies (vasectomy) she seemed disappointed. Maybe the kind of girl wishing baby lottery with vazaha?

She came pretty fast over me, then I continued.

We had 2/ 3 night sessions and she came another time.

I succeeded to retain my load till last session, I decided to offer my liquor.

Not a bad experience, even if not exceptional.

When outside the disco, this older sister came to ask me to pay one more beer and her taxi. (7000 AR).

As no taxi in view, as so seldom by night in Antalaha, we walked in the night to Ocean Momo in the darkness and deserted streets.

As usual, no control at all to go to the bungalow in Ocean Momo.

When the girl was in room, she went to the bathroom, arranged her hair differently, and I finally saw in bright light her face. Now she appeared clearly [CodeWord902]. And she told me she did not want to stay. I fully agreed, but was angry that she had asked to come with me, without any hassle from my part. She did not answer. In the meantime she had looked in detail my room and my belonging. She implored I accompany her to houses, as she was afraid in such deserted place. Angrily I agreed, and walked back with her in the dark lane along the beach, asking her several times with no answer: " but why you said you wanted to go with me, if finally you did not want stay with me, for perfectly agreeable reasons?

When back in my bungalow, I thought that with the rest of the family, especially the sister with bad face, they might invent a kind of blackmail, notwithstanding the fact that I had no relation with the girl I discovered in room clearly [CodeWord902].

I did not want to find the family next day on the beach near Ocean Momo.

Next morning I decided to leave with taxi Brousse to discover Sambava, in line with my commitment with receptionist lady to stay 3 nights. I paid my bill and leaved.
