Posts: 297Your right, Shit like that happens all over the world.
Ethiopia, guys that drive the big trucks are always high on, what is called Khat or Kchat. They have to be for all the driving they do. Taxies the same way. I have seen those kind of accidents all the time. Once I seen a guy get hit by a car went flying. Fortunately they guy stopped and took him to the hospital. At the scene, I tried to explain to them that its not the proper way to handle the situation. They did not listen. They guy was in really bad shape and probably died enroute, or at the hospital. But you know what? Its Africa, like its been said so many times before, Expect the unexpected. From my time in Africa, I have learned that everything, EVERYTHING is tribal.
Not sure what was the reason behind the witchcraft thing, but superstition is a real thing, and the more they believe in it (usually the more uneducated types), the more they behave according to it.
The butcher guy, hard to say what happened there. Sounds to me like it was some sort of personal problems the man and the group had. Again hard to tell.
Have to say though, If it bleeds, it leads. People from my area back in the states will not ever go to the west side or the south side. Just too afraid. Too bad for them. Just a little exploring and you might find some interesting places to see and visit. I have been there and I have done that, with no problems. Its also been my experience that a lot of the crime stuff that goes on is gang related. Here, where I am at. Its mostly cartel stuff. I know a guy that was kidnapped (at gun point) robed for everything he had, his bank account was emptied passwords forced to be given up to all his accounts (including social media) and forced to walk home for about 90 minutes. It was his fault though (he is Mexican). He went out alone and was hammered. Then went to the ATM, where it all happened, and was kidnapped in a taxi no less.
I cant count the number of times people have told me that I was crazy for going to those places. I came back from Ethiopia, and I got tired of all the people asking me if I had Ebola. LOL
If your trying to scare me away from Mada, maybe try your luck on the next guy that comes along and wants to visit Mada for the first time. I am not the kind of guy that pops in a country for a few quickies. I like to take my time, and get to know the people. A three month visa is not long enough to understand a culture. You really need to live it for more than a week or two. Its the same everywhere. You see backpacker types that do as much as they can in a day or two and then move on. Same with business people. Here today, gone tomorrow. That kind of travel is not for me. Just my preference I guess.
Those articles however were interesting though. Thanks for the read. I am now into anything Mada. Just sounds like a wonderful place and the more I read and information I absorb, the more it makes me want to go there.
FWIW, Are we not all sex tourist here, or maybe you are one of those guys that want the spoils all to yourself. No insults intended
Peace.

I was thinking of some place out of Nosy be. From what I have read here its a bit of a tourist destination. I like the more (and I am sure others here too), not so touristy places.
Peace.
PS, Is the girl included in the price or is that extra.

I am definitely visiting as soon as they open up. From my understanding Nosybe is cake walk. So your idea might be great for Toliara or Tamatave. A start would be for someone to volunteer to receive and reply to all PM on the subject. Not sure if we can clutter up the main board.

I have a feeling that a bunch of us will be going to Mada, as soon as possible. Wouldn't it be easier for us to rent a Villa, or some type or multi bedroom structure? Even if its for a week, or a month, or in my case to max out my visa. A couple or reasons behind this would be to share the cost, and then it would be cheaper. Another would be to share our experiences with like minded people. And still, yet another, would be to have a home base, where it would be comfortable to stay. I think it would be better to stay in a nice place then a shack on the beach, or maybe not.
I would not be the one to set this in motion, since I have never been to Mada, but some that have been there a few times and know how things work better than me should be able to find something easier, than those that have never been in the country.
Just a passing thought.

For those that are interested in the Italian guy, that was hung and burned, I found the post. Its a lot harder than going back 2 years and looking for it. However the posts start at #1259. Unless you read the entire thread you might not be interested in reading that far back. Sometimes, guys like me, are not interested in reading the whole thread, and just want the current up to date information. Like me it took some searching, but I found it. You can also type these words from the title, into the search engine.

Can make one think about the society one himself lives in and how we work it out in true reality.

It's in French, if you can understand half of it. Very well put.
I wouldn't set back a foot on mada, these people cursed themselves.
