That law is long time defunct. Ravalomanana introduced it. He wanted to stamp out prostitution. A joke in a country like Madagascar, where every half way decent looking girl is in the business. You can shag your ass off perfectly legal as long as long as it chica is 18 years or older. I know that documentary. Some useless french filmmakers made a documentary about Nosy Be sex trade. Some mostly French were at the wrong time at the wrong place. In the end some money changed hands. As far as I recall nobody went to prison except for a few days. Otherwise the whole male population of Madagascar would languish in jail. BS.

Paradise
Just finished watching a very old French documentary on male tourism in Madagascar. Didn't realise they have a law criminalising p4p if you are a foreigner. A couple of the guys actually got convicted and sent to the nick (because there was a French crew filming the proceedings). Another one got a 5 yr sentence because he had taken some nude pics of a girl without her consent. I doubt these laws often get enforced but it does show you have to thread carefully. Even in paradise.

Yes, but you have to act carefully in Madagascar. Especially at night. There is serious risk of getting robbed at knife point in Antananarivo at night if you walk too long, I had experienced this by myself so its not a joke.

True. Madagascar or any country in Africa is simply not on the map for mongers from the US. Some popular American YouTubers I follow who were based in Thailand and the Philippines moved to countries where there are no government lockdown. Not one of them chose Tanzania. They left for Mexico, DRP and Columbia and one of them for Nicaragua. You mention any African country to them and the comment section goes bizarre about how "They will be robbed at knife point. ". Just take it easy and do it
You first. The seasoned Mada guys are taking a wait and see attitude (as am I). I am planning July 2022. Hopefully the hassles will be minimal, airfares lower and flights more common. If not, well fucked if I know. We would love to hear your experience as one of the first back to Mada after the long, long time away. So you know, just do it!
Note to Amadeuss: stop posting that picture. It is making me think of following Tinte's advice and jumping on the first plane back I can find!

As Neddy pointed out: any embassy is just staffed with guys to attend dinners and not with well educated and responsible staff. Don't expect updated infos from them. Facts you may check out on the websites of the Mada Tourism Ministry http://www.tourisme.gov.mg/ -- but the site is off since while. Go figure.
The country opened borders. It works. Sort of, for about 1000 passengers per week. Although I assume 90% of them are returning Malgache. Quarantine hotels are fully booked.
In December flight prices are high because fully booked. End of January the first run is over and prices return to normal.
The girls are waiting. The earlier you arrive, the better the selection.

The whole thing ist more a kind of commercial Repatriation, bidirektional. The way things go on in Europa, on might get stuck in Mada for a longer time as he liked to.
Current Red list. Just ask the embassy in your home country.
Obstakels are here to overcome, just take it easy and do it.

So where is the famous Red List you wise crack? Until now I haven't found one. So far only hearsay. They might as well close down again as most countries will be on there again. LOL. Its mostly political. Rajoelina was under a lot of pressure to reopen. And to make some money for the basically bankrupt Air Mad, he also had to allow Air France to operate again. Most likely other airlines will be locked out for the time being. 10.000 malgache want to go back to Isle rouge as well as people want to leave the Island.
