As it concerns Nov / Dez mada is open. Price wise in Jan / Feb. For most of us too 700 bucks. But ho wants to go then? You?

Price go back to "normal" from Feb 6 according to airfrance website. Around 900 euro return. Thing is, its the only airline allowed to fly to Tana so no competition to drive price lower.

Now, Feb is the rainy season not the best time of the year. They need to allow more entry point and more airlines.

Now that we know NIO 400 doesn't know what he is talking about perhaps we can get some real info.

Its a matter of a definition, For me 4000 euro flight plus quarantine means close.

Sure if you are Jeff Bezos every country in the world is open, even if you sick as a dead dog you will be welcome.

The true definition of "real opening" is countries such as Colombia, Brazil, Mexico and Kenya when you just fly at normal price and that's it.

And what is the new airport like, particularly as regards immigration?

Myself I think it will be next June or so before I take the plunge so will have to live vicariously through posters who go before that. The flight logistics and costs from western Canada remain prohibitive.

I was quick to book one of the first tickets when the opening announcement was made public. Its was about 700. -EU, whereas at the moment ticket prices are 4000. -EU rtn, due to the high numbers of Malgache travelling. Not tourists. You still must go through the old airport. The new one is not open yet. Immigration took time to get tested and then 2 days quarantine. Thats all. Mr Nio shall stop writing if he don't have the facts.

In Mada basically no big change. People make their living. All is open. Curfew at midnight but that's not really a problem. If you speak French and are a gentlemen you will find enough sweet girls to accompany you. I never did sleep alone. But also did I keep away from the cougars in the discos: they are trying to make up for the loss they had. 100.000 is the typical starting offer and some are brave to ask for 100. -Euro -- get lost baby! There are enough girls happy with 30 or 40.000.

Domestic flights are working however less frequent and more expensive then 2 years ago. Taxi brousse are full as usual. The few good hotels in Tana are quite booked due to the 2 day quarantine where all passengers have to stay. In the other cities like Tamatave, Mahjunga, Fianar, Tulear local life goes on as usual.

On departure back to France you must now show a negative test: Antigen or PCR. Whether vaccinated or not.

But as Neddy said: who knows how long it will remain open again? In June 2022 a total different situation can appear.

Don't get too excited. COVID makes a comeback. 470 cases in Analamanga. I expect the flights to France to stop soon. Some say Air France guarantees flights to Paris till Mid January 22. But no problems. If you're newly minted Bitcoin millionaire or if your name is Tom Cruise you can enjoy unlimited pussy there. If you have sufficient funds. You just wait until you get a flight out or charter a private jet and apply to Andry to give you a special landing permit. LOL.

Just finished watching a very old French documentary on male tourism in Madagascar. Didn't realise they have a law criminalising p4p if you are a foreigner. A couple of the guys actually got convicted and sent to the nick (because there was a French crew filming the proceedings). Another one got a 5 yr sentence because he had taken some nude pics of a girl without her consent. I doubt these laws often get enforced but it does show you have to thread carefully. Even in paradise.

That law is long time defunct. Ravalomanana introduced it. He wanted to stamp out prostitution. A joke in a country like Madagascar, where every half way decent looking girl is in the business. You can shag your ass off perfectly legal as long as long as it chica is 18 years or older. I know that documentary. Some useless french filmmakers made a documentary about Nosy Be sex trade. Some mostly French were at the wrong time at the wrong place. In the end some money changed hands. As far as I recall nobody went to prison except for a few days. Otherwise the whole male population of Madagascar would languish in jail. BS.
