As far I understand you stay in Europe for one month to relax then 3 month in africa then repeat. So europe is your base to get organized.

Actually the only reason I fly back to Europe is because return works out so much cheaper than one way. More like 10 days. My base was my house in Gambia for 2 years. Out of convenience. But it got so bad that I am shifting probably back to East Africa.

No visa 2 months. But I extended it in Tamatave. Not a big problem. 80 k AR. And a mate did it here In Morondava.

You are correct Neddy. He didn't mention Mada specifically. It was implied. And closer to the truth if you fly a lot and include airfares in your monthly costs. As you mentioned I have abandoned Cambodia and in the last 2 years have probably made 50 flights in and around half a dozen countries. I don't even want to tally up what all that cost!

My flight budget is actually quite low. I aim to stay in country for 3 months. 3 international flights a year and maybe 2 or 3 regional or domestic flights. I fly from Europe. If you search carefully and I am time millionaire with sufficient funds and I use only return tickets I pay between 500 and 600 euros return. Why am I in Madagascar now. I paid 574.26 euros return with AF from Europe. If the flight would have been over my budget I would be in Kampala or Nairobi or Addis now. I only roam certain african countries. Not South America. Not SE Asia. why should I pay 50 to 100$ for pussy? NFW. I leave that to the loaded Japanese, Chinese and Westerners. I don't like the commercialized Sex Industry. In Africa its non-commercial. No barfine. No guard to be bribed to sneak in overpriced hookers like in Morocco. The girl gets 100%. And on top of that you get some of the finest GF Sex on the planet. The better and longer you stay in country the cheaper it gets. Stay away from the capitals in general smaller towns are cheaper.

Since myself was born and raised in a "behind the iron curtain" Eastern block country I would like to know the nationality of that old man who lives on $200 per month. He is my soulmate. If an Eastern European goes to Madagascar I'm sure they can live on a small budget by "training" And if he was one of those unlucky political prisoners in a communist country he can get by on less. Just keeping it real Seaster. Reality is there is nothing to do in these places in Mada: between mealtimes and bedding times there is nothing but nothing to do time. As for girls, women are everywhere: there's not a place they can't be found except in prisons and monastic institutions. The only possible attraction is cost factor for no-money guys: and the poor people they can (wow!) take advantage off. But, since it is a pure symbiosis, no need for your fake moral outrage. So you based in Cambodia and left but not permanently to Mada. You have another country you use as a base. Then you travel.

So overall 2 kusd per month as a year average sounds reasonable, For example a certain Asian country plus Mada travel and flights.

Like myself. 1000 usd is plenty plenty. But I am travelling. If you stay put in Mada you get easy by with 400 to 600 usd a month. Here in Morondave you can rent furnished 2 BR Apartments for 150 usd a month. In a month I hv 4 19 year old GFs taking care of me. All the booze I can drink and fresh crabs lobster or whatever I care to fancy. I can eat Cebu steak everyday if I cook myself. All fresh produce is available. Even fresh strawberries ferried in from Antsirabe. I Know expats here they live on 400 usd a month very comfortable.
I stay in cheap lodgings but never seen a flea or rat or caught scabies. There is good cheap lodgings all over Africa for 7 to 15 usd a day. I shop around till I find a place. Obviously I give overpriced tourist haunts a wide birth. The most I ever paid was 3000 ksh a night in Nairobi the least 100 usd thats 3.30 usd a day a month in Mangily. Clean bungalow without running water and off grid.
When I talk about 200 usd a month. The guy I know lives in Mangily. He is not traveling but retired in his 70's. He spent most of his best years in jail for political reasons in the former eastern bloc and receives a minimum pension of 200 usd. Perfectly doable. He rents a small hut for 40 $. The rest is for food and beer. His girlfriend cooks the usual gasy fare Rice. The fisherman sell him the catch of the day. And he owns a Motobike. Considering the minimum wage was raised to 200 k AR by the president he is a rich man getting 800 k a month. While he lives basic consider he's living in paradise looking at the sunset over the Mozambique channel every day.
