    Action in Tulear.

I am wring reports from my visit to Tulear and not answering your question (s). However, if you need advice, when you walk from Serena Hotel before you reach Amazone hotel, you will find few night clubs on your right hand side where you can find lots of girls. Just greet and smile and see their reaction. If they are interested, they will reciprocate. Otherwise, from Amazone Hotel you walk along the Boulevard Lyautey in both directions, lots of girls in the evening. Make eye contact with those you like, there will be few who will respond back. If you can converse in French, it will be better to communicate with them. After visiting Toamasina before, I find Tulear as good or better for girls.

So are there any good suggestions for Tulear? Any good advice, please?

Right now I just arrived in Tulear. So far I didn't have time yet to explore. Hotel Serena seems a decent place. But where is the action here? Arriving from a more moderate climate I must admit it is damn hot here. I will postpone exploring until the late afternoon. And will report later. Thanks in advance for anyone with useful information.
Go down toward the beach front, action start around the two last blocks, be careful at night as one girl told me that around bars there could be some risks, but I didn't saw any issues when I was there. Then on right at Hotel Amazone, on the boulevard Lyautey, restaurant L'Etoile de Mer is a good place to eat and watch girls walking on the boulevard.

Girls hang on the boulevard when the night come and long after.

May be there are other places which i don't know.

And try to go to Ifaty, less than 1 hour by cyclopouss, nice small village with wonderful beach and hotels, massage girls on the beach, and some others hanging in the village at night, or bring your own from tulear...

I forgot to put my swiss army knife into my check in luggage on my flight from Tamatave to Tana. It was in my backpack -- wrapped it in between charger and cables. Some nice words with the lady who was checking the pack. And she did wave me through. Being friendly to the staff helps more then any bribe.
    Totally agreed.

The first two nights, I stayed in the Deluxe Room 202 on the second floor. If you book directly with the hotel, the room rate is MGA 95,000 but since I booked through booking.com, I paid around 111,500 MGA per night.

The Deluxe Rooms are quite big. Two towels were provided in the bathroom together with toiletries. There is good water pressure in the rain shower. Hot water is also available.

The bed was comfortable. The AC works well and is not noisy. Internet is quite fast. There are only 6 TV Channels.

Breakfast is served on the same floor as the reception but it is only basic: tea / coffee, juice, eggs, croissant.

The staff are very kind and helpful. There is no issue of bringing a guest but she has to leave the ID at the reception.

On my return journey, I had booked a Double Room which is found on the first floor. Since the room is small and there are frequent movements in the lobby and the reception, I requested a room on the second floor. This time I paid MGA 108,000 only and I was given room 201. Room 202 is better than room 201. In Room 201, there is some inconvenience as water spills over while taking shower. The Hotel should fix a shower curtain to avoid this problem.
Thanks Manfield. Serena is an excellent hotel. I had room 204. However, as Neddy has insisted, prebooking with Booking has its disadvantages. I will report later. My main question remains unanswered yet: where is the action? I explored the avenue with bars along the seaside yesterday evening. Deplorably little action there. I settled for one girl who, somewhat to my surprise, showed up at my door. She turned out not to have an inkling about good sex. I'll explore again today. So are there any good suggestions for Tulear? I extended my prebooked stay here in Tulear because I remember Neddy recommending Tulear as, I believe, "the best place in Madagascar". I now regret my decision. Any good advice, please?

    Tulear Day 2.

I woke up at around 6.30 am. Went to the reception with clothes for laundry. I had breakfast at Serena Hotel, on the same floor as the reception: croissant, poached eggs, juice and tea. Back to room, as I was still feeling tired, slept from 9 am to 12.30 pm. After waking up, lazed on the bed reading newspaper and surfed on the net. I could see from the window, the weather outside was sunny and very hot. The roads were deserted.

Took shower, secured my belongings and walked to restaurant "LE Jardin de Gian Carlo" and had lunch at around 2. 30 pm. Back to Serena Hotel, took a nap. Woke up at 6. 30 pm Showered, secured luggage and walked towards Amazone Hotel. The roads were crowded. Lots of young people. Many enjoying Christmas Party. There was a musical concert in the public garden in front of Amazone Hotel.

I walked around with lots of girls smiling and flirting. I met one girl Noëlla, 20 years old, who was 2 friends. She agreed to come to hotel but didn't have her "carte" with her and it would take her one hour to fetch it. I declined. I also asked her whether she would be willing to accompany me to Mangily, she agreed, so I took her mobile number and told her I would phone her on 26 December in the morning before going to Mangily.

I met another girl, Nathalie. She agreed to come to Serena Hotel. We walked together to the hotel. Left her ID at the reception. We showered together. Had a great time with Nathalie. She was thin, a little tall, dark complexion, long sexy legs, good size boobs and a great ass. We tried different positions. She enjoyed the sex as much as me and we finished with she on top.

Cleaned, showered, gave her MGA 30,000 and saw her till the reception. Nathalie did not have a mobile, so could not share. Back in the room, surfed on the net and slept again at around midnight.

    Tulear Day.

I reached Hotel Serena at around 1. 30 pm I was allocated room 202 on the 2nd floor. It was very hot and very tired after the flight from reunion Island with a stopover at Fort Dauphin. I slept at around 1.45 pm. I woke up at around 3.30 pm.

I enquired at the reception where I can change Euros into MGA. The lady at the reception indicated one shop a few metres on the same side as the hotel. I changed 1 Euro at MGA 4,000. Not sure whether the bank was open on that time on the eve of Christmas.

I walked to Score Hypermarket to buy some food items in case there were no restaurants open. Back to Serena, I took a nap. I woke up at around 6. 30 pm, showered, secured my luggage and walked towards Amazone Hotel where I met one girl. Started a conversation with the girl sitting on the steps of Amazone hotel as she showed some interest. I asked her what she doing there, to which she replied, she was looking for a boy, understandably not very fluent in French. As I started walking towards L'Etoile de mer restaurant, the girl asked whether she could accompany me, I just told her may be some other time.

So, I had dinner at L'Etoile de mer restaurant, which is a few metres away from Amazone Hotel on the same side. At first I sat outside so that I have a look at Tam Tam Disco but the wind was very strong and as it was Monday, Tam Tam was closed.

After dinner, I came to the crossroads just in front of Amazone Hotel, many girls walking around with some smiling and others flirting. I smiled at one girl and asked her whether she would like to come to my hotel, she agreed. When I asked for her "carte", she said she had forgotten it at home but she can have from one of her friends. I declined.

After walking along Boulevard Lyautey, I came back to the crossroads in front of Amazone Hotel. After a few minutes, I saw one girl who attracted me. I smiled and she responded. I asked the same question and she agreed and had her "carte"also. So, off we went to Serena Hotel, hand in hand.

I went to the reception so that she can leave her ID. The night staff was a man. He didn't say anything.

In the room, she said her name was Lauremsia, 20 years old. She was short, may be 5 feet tall, slim, fair complexion, curly hair, good size boobs and very sexy ass. We showered together during which she gave a BBBJ with lots of cuddling and kisses. I also fingered her there.

After drying ourselves, on the bed we started again with kisses and hugging. She did give a very good BBBJ and we did in many positions, missionary, doggy, she on top. She was a little tight. I asked her whether we can try anal, she accepted. We tried but not successful, she was very tight, mine is big and there was no Vaseline.

We enjoyed for around 90 minutes, then showered. I took her number and asked whether she would like to accompany me to Mangily as I was going there on 26 December. She said she would let me know when I would phone her.

I saw her till the reception and gave her MGA 30,000. She left very happy and I returned to my room, very tired and slept at around 11 pm.

    Some Tulear restaurants review.

    Etoile de Mer restaurant.

It is located on Boulevard Lyautey. If you are coming from Serena Hotel, turn to your right. It is a few metres away from Amazone Hotel. Etoile de Mer restaurant is big place with tables both inside and outside. I went there for dinner on 24 December at around 8 pm. However, there were very few people at the time. I had ordered gratin au crabe (MGA 15,000) and filet poisson plus purée de pomme de terre (MGA 20,000). The portion served was adequate. But a little expensive for Madagascar standard. At first, I sat outside so that I can have a look at Tam Tam disco. I had to move inside the restaurant as the breeze was too strong and also as it was Monday, Tam Tam was closed.

    LE Jardin restaurant.

If you walk from Serena Hotel, just after Central Hotel, there is Lalana Raseta. LE Jardin restaurant is found on this road. People know this restaurant as LE Jardin de Gian Carlo. As I wanted to have sea foods, I had to choose from panier or assiette fruits de mer. I was informed that panier fruits de mer is suitable for a family. So, I chose assiette fruits de mer at MGA 37,000. Well, it is huge platter of sea food such that two or even three people can eat from it. As it was Christmas, the restaurant was crowded. May be it is very popular with local people.

    Corto Maltese restaurant.

It is located on Lalana Raseta just before LE Jardin restaurant de Gian Carlo. The restaurant serves sea food and brochette. However, I had vegetable pasta which quite good. Although it is a nice place, the service is slow.

    Oasis Café.

It is located at the end of a corridor a few metres away from Serena hotel. Nice and cosy place. It serves mainly pizzas and burgers. I had a pizza which was quite good.

    My Tulear reports.

Visited Tulear and Mangily from 24 to 31 December 2018 (3 nights in Tulear and 4 nights in Mangily). Although, there was not much to do in Tulear during the day, Mangily is a nice place to hang around for a few days.

So, let me describe my stay there.

I had a stopover of one day in Reunion Island during both trips Mauritius to Tulear and back as Air Austral does not have connecting flights within a reasonable delay. I caught an Air Austral flight from Mauritius at 6 pm On Sunday 23 December and reached Reunion Island at around 6. 50 pm Stayed overnight in an Airbnb. The flight from Reunion Island to Tulear has a stopover of over one hour at Fort Dauphin. The Tulear airport is very small but the building is new and clean. Although, citizens of Mauritius do not have to pay for the visa, we still have to get a document from the visa counter before the immigration Officer stamps the passport.

There were a few taxis outside the airport building in the parking area. I was quoted MGA 25,000 to drop at the Serena Hotel. One Tuk tuk driver quoted MGA 20,000. Finally, one taxi driver convinced me to pay MGA 13,000. I had no choice as it was really hot standing in the parking area.

It took me around 20 minutes to reach Serena Hotel.

Its not even on Google Maps. So I wonder where you got this ridiculous quote from. Again I am going to reiterate. DO NOT BOOK IN ADVANCE in Africa. Period.

Please forgive confusion here, but per Google, MGA 60,000 is $16.59 and $45 is, well, $45, or almost triple the original amount.

That seems pretty far from $1.50.
