Posts: 237Air Mad no longer operational domestically.
Went to air mad office today and the agent told me that they selling only Tsaradia.
Best rates at their website. No such thing as airmad domestically. Now. Price for Dec. Is sky high.

For super cheap hotel, LE Pave, midpoint between haute and bas'ville is good, clean value (and multiple girl friendly).

Arrived last week to Ivato for 30 days trip due to the restriction of visa reported previously. When I got to the immigration I asked for 60 days to test their consistency. Yes I got this time 60 days so maybe I will re-schedule flight back.
Stayed a week in Ivato hotel previously mentioned and non stop sex with mY MILF. Cost is Zero. Then I took the 600 AR white minibus from Ivato to Tana and another taxi from its last stop to my hotel. Same hotel I stay in the last 15 years. 37 K per night.
Bought an electric stove in Ivato for 30 K and a metal Cup to cook my morning coffee. Also bought a pan for 5 k to cook the shrimps for my upcoming beach trips.
Next destination is ile sainte Marie as I saw one ISG guy that has posted some beach modeling photos with a lovely girl so maybe I will get lucky too? Also a few days in Fenoarivo Est in my way back. Last short trip to Sambava to see my GF.
Meanwhile I find Tana is sunny and lovely.

We all have different taste and priorities. If one wants to stay in a posh hotel with a big lobby, sourrounded by group or family travellers -- its his business. If another one likes to stay in a small room with no window but dirt cheap --its also his business.
I did try many hotels in Tana: Sakamanga, Sole, Shanghai, La Varange, Belvedere, NewSelect, Glacier, Les 3 Metis. Name it.
I want to have a clean room, minimum 25 sqm, window or balcony with view, good wifi, firm bed, bathroom in modern design --and most important as fun-traveller: no restriction about whom and how I bring to my room at whatever time of the day or night. No questions asked. In addition at least one of the hot spots at night must be in safe walking distance and for the others, taxis must be easy available.
At the moment the Hotel Tripolista, opp Glacier, is my fav: the new rooms are nicely decorated (choose the room with balcony for 38 EU. The cheap rooms have no window) the elevator goes from ground floor direct to your room floor. Having a gang bang in your room: no one cares. And its located at ground zero of our hobby.
But as said: we all have different fancies.

Why anyone would travel anywhere to stay in a dump of a hotel is beyond my understanding. OK, they either have no money or that's their comfort zone. For combination of comfort quality at moderate value: in bas ville, Central Hotel. In Haute Ville, Tana Hotel. Viewing the other day, the 3 new hotels across the street from LE Glacier, if you can accept a windowless room, you might like it there. The better and quieter rooms in the back get taken first. But, what's the point of being so close to LE Glacier? Better to stay in Haute ville, walk down the steps by day, or 5 minute taxi after nightfall.

Probably Sole is a good bet too. Relais has also bigger and smaller rooms. The disadvantage is maybe that its relatively far from Glacier. Having said that. I never had a problem walking as there is plenty of guards around. Haven't tried to take 2 girls though. Pricewise its the cheapest hotel Downtown. Except a few ST Hotels I surveyed.

It is funny how everyone has a different opinion on the same places. For what it's worth, I stayed at Sole 2 years ago and was underwhelmed to say the least. Small room, shit TV (standard everywhere) Wifi sucked and the outside is blacker than Toby's ass. There are no places to eat and drink nearby and the piece de resistance. The fucking restaurant is vegetarian!
New Select varies a lot. My first stay there was fine. Nice room, good Wifi, staff were friendly and the bed was comfy, not to mention it is 50 metres away from Glacier. I had the first room next to the stairs and did not have any issue with noise from other guests. The next time I was at the end of the hall. The room was smaller (too small) and the Wifi signal was shite. Not bad for 70 K if you get room 101. Having said that I am always open to new / better places and will probably try something different next time.

So all in all, hotel Artistes is a good option, 75 k and safe room. Amazing restaurant always full lunch and dinner. But only 6 rooms easily fully booked.
Glacier hotel pretty old, 65 k but not that good quality I have to say.

Hey Neddy,
I will be in Tana soon for s 2 days stopover and of course I want to be based close to Glacier. I was at hotel Artistes but rooms are small and dark, the New Select better room but is a noisy brothel at night!
Any advise and price range?
Thanks.

Dont forget the tropical thunderstorms called cyclones. They are like the hurricanes in the carribbean. Nosy Be gets rarely hit. It pays to watch the hurricane advisory. I had already a tropical system brewing in November but fizzled out. That said the most rain is received North and East. Driest Southwest like Tulear.

Hi everyone,
Thanks a lot to each of you for reporting such interesting contents.
My question is about the weather in the country.
On multiple website, people agreed to say it's very rainy from 01/12 to 31/03.
Some people said it only rains during the night for this period.
If you guys can relate what is actually the truth about weather, I would appreciate a lot.
I'm planning to go to Nosy Be (following Neddy's experience) during March or after.
Thanks a lot.
