Absolutely. There are NO police checkpoint in Tana anymore, neither by day or night. It's a big relief for expats.

If you saty some time in Tana, I prsonnaly don't like Ville Haute as it's noisy by night, dirty, expensive and heavily polluted.

Best neighborhood is Ivandry, far away.

Near LE Glacier, try Faravohitra or Ambandy.

It seems the police checkpoints are back in business. That's why I never bother with Taxi Be. I went in there twice. But I managed to sneak past la Police. And if the weather is bad and later on they're gone. I usually call it an early night. There is sweet girls everywhere. No need to hang out until 2 o'clock in the morning. And right besides Manson there is accommodation. Upstairs at no comment bar. I have been checked by La Police a couple of times but never paid anything.

But I'll land on isle rouge in 5 days.

I have my passport this time but he wants vaccine certificate so basically they will make up anything for the bribe. I prepared by hiding all my money and only leave 10 in the wallet, he wants 100 k and show him the ten but he says we go bank and get 100 k, I don't carry cards. So he says I will have Euros at my hotel and he will keep my passport while we go to my hotel and get 50 euro and shows me a 50 euro note he said was from someone else. I tell him to just take the 10 I have on me, he takes that and goes.

Getting taxis between bars at night I see the odd street walker about or sometimes in a group, not my thing though.

I've been controlled 100 times in Mada and never paid once. Don't encourage corruption. If you have certified copy no need to pay. You paid each of them because they ask? Are you serious? So if they are 10 you pay 10 times? Pure BS. Be smarter than these thieves and show them no fear. If you had passport the 2nd time why are you still negotiating? Tell him to f. K off and threaten him to report him to Bianco. There is no need for vaccination proof in Mada. Everybody knows that.

Even now report all of them to Bianco.

I have been paying 50 k for the night for girls from bars and brought one girl round during the day from Badoo for 30 k.

LE relais normand basic rooms are now 75 k so I've moved to select hotel, much better location next to galcier and much better rooms with balcony at 82 k. The doors open by card I prefer a key so I can lock it from the inside. Both hotels always want to keep the girls ID.

Arrived tana airport, 37 dollar 30 day visa, passed baggage and security is an ATM that works with mastercard and no fees. Paid 50 k for 30 day sim plan and 500 for the sim from Telma shop at the airport. 60 k taxi to hotel LE relais norm and, haven't paid yet but think its 62,500 for the basic room, room has seen better days but does the job, everything works.

5 k taxi to LE glacier 9.30 pm, a few alright girls but first night I need to go to a few spots to see a wide sample so I know the range of quality if that makes sense. So head manson after 11 pm, 7 k taxi I like it in here nice bar, more girls and better quality, you can't walk around without getting approached constantly, take some numbers before moving onto taxi be, 10 k taxi, spot the girl I liked in glacier earlier, a small girl with one of the more prominent asses I saw that night, so chat to her, agree 50 k in the morning, 10 k taxi back. She was all good did everything I wanted, had no change so gave her 60 k in the morning.

Good first night, I did make notes that taxis were 5 k but these guys wouldn't budge from 10. Still very cheap taxis but just checking?

Also now I'm out here badoo seems to work fine, plenty of matches to go through.

Unless you are blind or have never mongered before there is plenty on the ground. This is one of the best things about the country in my opinion. Girls are easy and will say "Bon soir" or "Ca Va" to you on the street and if you smile or reply then they will latch onto your arm or follow you. Food is not good. So far the best food is supposed to be Baobao Kafe which only opens at 7 pm. Good breakfast or lunch can be had at Tsy Manin. Batu Moch is (relatively) good but it's 24 k-28 k for 'LE petit dejeuner'. For cheap eats I recommend Chez Mama across the street from the Casino because she has Rice and Beef with free filtered water for just 9 k and some other meals. Taxi Be is definitely the place for girls but the last 3 occasions I said 'Trente Mil' (30 k), every girl said OK but in the room they always gave me grief and took a long while (griefing me constantly) to kick out while they complained even after giving another 5 k for "Taxi money". They kept babbling about how it's not normal and it's 50 k. 2 of them refused BJ outright. Is it high season or crazy season? Staying at the Robinson and its fine. Fan and mosquitoes but cheap at 60 k. For better the Ambatoloaka Hotel has a sign in front that says 25 euro, 20 euro, and 60 k. Also the Beluga Hotel is 25 Euro on the beach not far from Robinson.

Is anyone else getting this much trouble from the girls?

Chez Pat restaurant has good food and pizza from their wood-fired oven. Right at the beach when you go past Baobab round the corner, 40 meters at the right hand side towards the end of the beach. Zéburger opposite LE Billard has decent snacks and meals. Next to the Casino "Loock Ness". Also good. Right oppsosite another restauarant (plat du jour / daily special 16000 AR, large Sandwiches / Baguettes 10000 AR). Karibo and Indian restaurant, all located at the parking. Yummy. Opposite Ody Hotel you will find "La Palazetto" restaurant. 15 meters from there towards the parking Boutique artisanale "Chez Louisette". Walk inside and you find Guillaume. He offers three different meals a day 17000 AR. Very good, like in the Provence Bakes bread every day! Open from 7/8 am to 3/4 pm. Closed on mondays. Concerning the girls I prefer daytime short time action. 20 to 30 K depending on the girl. Take a walk on the beach after the siesta around 4 or 4:30 pm. You will see a couple of girls walking around looking for vahasas they can offer their massage service. Be careful at night. Make sure your personal belongings are locked away, when you enter your room with a girl. There were a couple of thefts recently. I pay 40 K longtime plus tip 5 K. Sometimes they don't stick to the amount agreed upon beforehand and ask for more. If she is reluctant to leave or gets aggressive, my advice would be to not touch or push her. Call the guard. He will tell her to leave.

You should definitely not pay more than 40 k for the night. It s possible to pay less but as a newbie it seems you are not able to do that yet.

Neddy has a good point. They know you are a tourist and will try to extract extra from you. Stick to your guns and pay what you say. Perhaps get some phone numbers and have them over during the day. Once they know you are a steady income source you may get them calling you, and for the amount you want to pay. Don't forget NB is the most expensive place in the country and the girls know you have lots of cash, even if you don't flash it around. As for no BJ, never had it happen yet, knock on wood!
