    Golfinho,

I don't normally like these "expediters" as I don't like to encourage the behaviour. However, I would definitely use one if I knew there was going to be an issue and they can make it go away. The main problem is I don't know if it is necessary and worse, if these jokers can do anything about it. For all I know I could pay a guy 20 Euro to jump the queue and still find myself going through the same shit as NME (who still hasn't said which country he is from. Maybe they have had some sort of dustup with the Malagasy Government?

Steve: thanks. I have seen that (although unfortunately for a visa inside Canada, not arrival) and as I posted earlier info from the Canadian Govt also saying nothing about curtailing VOA to 30 days or less. I land in under a week so I guess I will see first hand. I'll let you guys know.

Cleara: considering Tana is at an elevation of over 5000 feet and several hundred kilometres inland the chances or your cruise ship docking there are nil.

I think you should be prepared to pay small money (like a 20 euro note or so) to one (or more) of the helper guys who are always there offering to put your passport first in line to get the visa. If you are a cheapskate or just a super moral guy, well too bad. You just have to ask yourself how bad you want to be in Madagascar for the next three months. A dollar or two a day cover charge is really small money when it comes down to it.

I hope that will help. To be 100% sure call the Madagascar embassy in Ottawa.

Why? Do you know anything that I don't know?

I purchased this cruise on December.

"For stays of less than three months, a visa for entry and paid stay is mandatory. It can be delivered upon arrival at the airport. " I found this on the French government website, valid as of today and updated in June. It doesn't look like France is affected. Hopefully Canada as well. What country are you from NME?

  7. #2674

    New visa rules.

This does not bode well. You say "certain countries". Can you point us to a list of these certain countries, website? I am Canadian and was planning on asking for a 3 month on arrival next week. I will be screwed if I need to go through all this paperwork without a clue. My French is very basic.

To keep the story short, how much euro or ariary were you quoted to receive the necessary 'help' to receive your 3-month visa by the next day or so?

From Antananarivo to Tamatave with cortisse.

But how to go from Tamatave to Sainte Marie?

    Nosy Be by airplane.

Any hotel recommendation? For Tamatave, Sainte Marie and Nosy Be. Thanks.
Gasikara company will take you in Minivan and boat to saintie marie early in a morning (if I remember good at 6 am) from tamatave. The office is one minute next to hotel flamboyants. The cost was 80 k for bus+ boat together. At tamatave you can stay at hotel flamboyants is cheap, clean, have wifi, aircon, can bring 1-2 girls at same time no problem!! And its near some action!! At saintie marie you can stay at hotel freddy. Its in town 5 minutes walk from ferry its very small hotel with 5-6 rooms, but have aircon, wifi, hot shower at quiet street, can bring girls without problem and cheap (I forget how much I pay).

That location is a long-standing tana institution: the Malagasy guys drive through at a crawl making selections from the comfort of their cars and SUV's. In good evening weather, have a seat at a table with some beers and make your own selections.

    Tana Visa nightmare.

Arrived a few days ago to IVATO and requested 3 month visa. Surprise. New regulations for certain countries. My country now allowed for only one month visa at airport and latter can be extended.

OK went out for a Taxi. Surprise price is 40 k to 50 k now. But I am MadaExpert I supposed to know everything so I walk 100 m further out of the gate to look for unofficial taxi. Find one driver without a car. Told him I have 35 k. He said ok. Where is your care dude I asked. Its hidden I am not allowed to work here wait one minute. OK.

Day after, I am here for 3 month with 30 days visa OK took a Taxi to "ministère de l'intérieur" visa section to find out that my horror movie was just began. To keep the story short I had to bring so many documents that you need to be fluent in french to make it. For example latter from the bank in Tana, Hotel registration documents (not just receipt), 3 form to fill, 4 photos, writing a document in french explaining why you need to extend the visa, very high level of french required, copies of passport, visa ivato and that's only the beginning. Non of this documents are in English. I was there 5 times seriously. This is new for 2018 for certain countries. Each Taxi is 8 k one way. You need a lawyer skills to get that visa extension and its possible only in Tana. Not Diego and not Tamatave.

Whether August supposed to be cold. Surprise warm and nice. Sun all day.

Girls. One girl came she is a singer doing video music clip 170 cm tall and sexy. Lets see what next as still need to call to all those Afro dating girls. Planing more week in Tana and then to Diego or Anthalaha or where I want. No limitations.
